I was surprised receiving an e-mail this morning from this bank
that my ATM card will be disabled if I don't have BVN. Below was what I received:

"Dear Valued Customer,

Please note that your ATM Debit card will be disabled soon from performing transactions,Pending your registration for the new ATM card bank verification number(BVN) as directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria,Please note that this registration is Mandatory.
Simply copy and paste the link below in your browser and fill in the registration form to reactivate your ATM card immediately"


I wonder what having this BVN number is turning into. Is it a must I have it nor make use of it?

End time thing I think.... What do you as well think of this BVN or no BVN issues?

This is a scam please don't fill any form online for BVN. No account will be closed for not having BVN but rather it would be limited. Scammed are trying to steal your card details beware!!

This should not be forced on us. If it's really to protect our bank accounts. Anyone could decide to have it or not to.

Looks like a scam message. Fill in Reg to Reactivate ur ATM? Follow link? I'm nt sure bt I dnt think banks do dose kinda registrations online

pls dont obey the message its a pure scam neither BVN nor ATM activation can be done online

@legalwealth, I sincerely hope u did not reply this message,filled the form or even sent ur bank details, because if you did I will be very very disappointed in you. Because you of all ppl should know that NO BANK will send a mail to you asking you to send ur card details or bank details and it has been said for almost 8months that the BVN can only be done in person not online due to the biometric data capturing process involved. You should know better than this that this mail sent to you is from fraudsters and scammers .

Whats the meaning of BVN? Why don't they leave us to make transactions in peace?

I didn't even click on the link but I thrashed it immediately but going back to the e-mail now
shows what you've just said.

Anyways!I think our banking system will still get to that stage(Scammers can fore-see future of the BVN issue)
if this issue of BVN is not addressed on time although I'm not saying we Nigerians shouldn't register for it but
it shouldn't be made a priority one provides the number before one can transact in the banking hall/system.

Trust me! I didn't do that but just thrashed it immediately I extracted what I wanted to.

I just got it reviewed from my e-mail thrashed can which I've as well taken its screenshot
for Nigerians to see to be aware of the new e-mail format used by scammers for fraud.

They should never click on any of such link in the e-mail let alone submitting their data.

You are correct but it's becoming too much as I'm sure that some Nigerians must have been frustrated with this issue

I think its a security measure and even if its dauntin and exhaustin, we hav no choice... If scammers/fraudsters weren't dis much we wud all enjoy a less stressful world, nigeria as we knw it right nw is nt d most secure place so we do wats necessary to keep our money in d ryt place. Even me sef I'm frustrated

But the nigerian government and the cbn has been telling ppl to do this BVN for almost 8months now!!!!! The problem with nigerians is that they like to take everything for granted and they don't want to do the right thing at the right time. Now I am sure banks will be flooded with ppl wanting to beat the deadline ,but 2months ago I am sure those banks will be begging ppl to do the bvn and customers won't mind them. nigerians should stop blaming others and the system for their own shortcomings or failure and always endeavour to do the right thing at the right time .

You are definitely right although I was among first set of Nigerian to do the BVN registration as I see no bad thing
in registering because it is for security purpose but it shouldn't get to a stage of telling us that we can't transact if
we don't provide our BVN number.

if they don't stipulate a punishment or consequence for not doing the bvn ,nigerians won't do it . And this is the system all over the world, registration for things have an opening day and closing date . And in this case ,the accounts won't even be blocked permanently just till the account holder do the right thing which is to follow cbn directive .

That is a scam! You can't process your BVN online because the bank will need to capture your biometrics.

Why are these people so concerned about this BVN, is this really not another way of doing......their Business as usual things?
