Hi there.

I got this small Ford Focus 2000 (hatchback) abt three months ago. It works fine but has issues when I use it for like four hours non-stop or when I put on the ac full blast while going around (which could be less than an hour).

What it does is, it slows down when I accelerate and jacks. This happens especially when I am climbing a hill but is normal on descent.

We have changed the air flow meter, the plugs, done full servicing, cleaned the fuel pump but it persists.

Now, I'm told I need to change the fuel pump which could be 18k (original tokunbo) or I could use a Toyota Camry lite fuel pump for 3k.

I need help. I am tired of experimenting with my money. Does anyone have a solution that is sure?

to me i think is an electrical fault..
scan it.. it may do u good.

Change the fuel pump as suggested. You can get a new pump for under 10K. Works just fine. I use a Ford Focus too.

Seriously? And u've had no issue since then? Cause honestly, I love this car. I really want it to work well.

Ten Months now. No problems since I changed the fuel pump.

I once "served" in a Ford workshop here in Nigeria. Most of fuel pump issues we had were replaced with Toyota pumps. So I will advice you go with the camry pump.

Mind you, it was a Ford authorized garage I'm talking about o.

Sir, you have just answered my prayers. A lot of offline counsel I got were to get the Toyota pump but with this your experienced advice, i'm going to get it replaced by the weekend.

It was a Chinese made pump for Ford. Bought brand new for 6K by my mechanic (so may have added his own). Was skeptical too when I saw it.

if your check engine is on run a scan on her.if you are sure that your fuel pump is bad,replace fuel pump and fuel filter if dia is one.scan for weak sensors and pressure test for fuel system.

I did the scan and it showed nothing sir. That's why I had to resort to this manual approach.

check your fuel filter(under car) nd pump.Pressure test will do good
