Meanwhile , I still insist that Fayose neither appointed an " illiterate English language " man to head an English language department nor did he appoint " a slowpoke " to head a local government . Fayose only appointed an intelligent and wise man to head a local government - although the man is not literate in the use of English language ( according to you ). Let me assume that you do not know French which automatically makes you an illiterate in the language , does that now justify a French national to conclude that you are an illiterate ( slowpoke ) and therefore unqualified to lead yourself or an organization somewhere ?

In summary , there's is a difference between an illiterate in a particular language and a slowpoke . Don't tell me that a skilled carpenter is uneducated either , unless you are so useless to know that there are two ways to acquire knowledge , that is formal and informal methods . The fact that you learned something through a formal way which automatically gives you privilege to master above average the queen's language doesn't "practically" makes you better educated person than the other person that acquired his own knowledge through informal way albeit through his native language which possibly makes him deficient in queen's language .

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State Friday appointed a 72-year old Carpenter and illiterate, Mr Olatunde Afolayan as the caretaker chairman of Moba Local Government.

Fayose, also sworn in members of the State Independent Electoral Commission, headed by a retired Chief Judge of the State, Justice Kayode Bamisile , to be able to conduct local government elections before the end of the year.

After administering the oaths on the appointees, Fayose told President Muhammadu Buhari to remove Mrs Amina Zakari as the Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, while also urging him to be  equitable  in appointing the National Electoral Commissioners.

Afolayan, who was sworn-in as caretaker chairman of Moba local Government , was inaugurated alongside Mrs Omolara Bayode Ayeni and Mr Owolabi Ajewole, who were to superintend over Ikole and Ijero Councils respectively, following resignation of those that had earlier appointed by the governor.

Its not about the 72years old man being illiterate in English that is crux of the matter, the old man is also an illiterate in carrying out official duties, he does not even know the simple rules in office administration. According to you, the said man may be good in his indigenous language, but even if u present a simple account brief to him in yoruba language which he understands, how can he tell if the local government he takes care of has been short-changed, owing to the fact that he does not even know basic accounting. Let's call a spade a spade, according to the report on Premium times the old man was quoted as saying he hasn't entered a classroom for a day in his life, how do you expect such person to carry out administrative duties?
