Wonder wat happened to this thread sha....lemme update some of my works since last post...
love the Brainzbox Aeroplane. well done.
Am curious... want to know if you used the composite nodes on the images before the final render. ?

And that Green bot, looks like subway suf game character.
well-done.

I don't like using PDFs for xter tuts.....videos sounds nicer.
I will always recommend Tony wards series.

Making a lists of the best Renders I have ever used:
1. Solid Angles Arnold
Excellent particularly if you are using it with HDRs (image based) but render times are way too slow. Good for big machines. Used by Industrial Light and Magic, MPC and Frame store.
No plugin for Blender....Standalone can be got from apptodownload.com.

2. Octane
Nodal shading is excellent. Got d plugin for blender recently. One fault, getting it to render volumes is a pain in d arse.

3. Modo`s Internal Renderer
Everything from the Foundry is phenomenally fine but expensive. MODIS physically based render can get u a 87% near physical rendering in one minute at full 720p ...hello cycles do u hear that!

4. Lightwave Renderer
For a fast rendering with acceptable results. Pick LWs renderer. Theirs is no rocket science. Simple put on lights and click f9

No Doubt this might not add value to existing Pros and Gurus here...but if you are ever a Newbie, let me give you my layman's understanding of blender tracking process.

Principles of tracking
Tracking is a process of gathering information from previously filmed footage. It has
become one of the key visual effects techniques of the present.
Tracking does not produce finished shots but numerical information that can be used to match virtual camera and animated objects and characters with live-action camera.

Tracking markers are usually used to help the camera tracking process.

Before starting the tracking process, it is good to preview the shot in real time. Making notes of good tracking targets and when they go out of frame or are occluded, this can save time and trouble in the actual tracking process. Any parallax in the scene will disqualify otherwise attracting tracking targets.

In 3D camera tracking suitable points from the image are chosen as feature points either manually or automatically.

The position of the feature points in the image plane is measured and combined with the focal length of the camera. 3D tracking algorithms analyses the footage frame by frame and estimates camera parameters from the paths of the chosen feature points.

Automatic feature point detection chooses points that are bright, dark, edges or corners in the image.

The Blender core tracking system has a corner detector - the computation of the area of points inside a circular region N( x , y) that have a brightness similar to the one of the central point (x , y) . The area is computed thus

See first image

The parameter t controls the sensitivity to noise which means it defines the similarity between the brightness values. The value of η(x,y) is compared to a fixed threshold equal to ηmax/2 where ηmax is the maximum value that η() can take.
That maximum value is

See Image Two

Computational simplicity makes this kind of algorithms based on brightness comparisons preferable solution for corner detection.

To track these points the software needs to estimate their motion in the image plane between two consecutive frames by detecting the changing values of these points. This is done by searching for the highest correlation of image intensity surrounding the points from a rectangular search window. Bad correspondences are detected and excluded from the camera parameter estimation.

After loading a sequence to the software, Then the tracking process starts and Blender's system analyses feature points ( and trackers) from the image using corner detection algorithms. With automatic feature point detection it was possible to use a large amount of feature points. If the feature points had been chosen manually, there would have been a significantly smaller number of tracked feature points resulting in a less accurate tracking data.

The green lines are good correspondences . If there are red red crosses, they are the bad correspondences.

Bad correspondences occur due to misalignment or moving of objects in the scene

After the initial tracking is completed and the camera parameters estimated, the tracking system allows user to refine the solution by editing feature point tracks and All the parameters and feature points can be saved for future use.

After the final estimation the camera parameters and the 3d points generated as a 3D scene can be exported for the chosen format using a little python script

In most cases the generated points were exported back into Blender's Default layout.

From the gathered data a virtual camera is created with the correct focal point and all the movement of the original camera used for acquiring the live-action footage.
Also, all the feature points that were tracked are represented in the created 3D scene as a point cloud relative to the camera. Although the feature points are not in the correct position in the 3D scene, they can be used to determine the correct position and movement for the 3D models.

It is important to confirm that the 3D scene is in the correct aspect ratio before any animation is done. Easiest way to confirm this is to import the live-action footage as an image sequence to the scene and set it as a background image.

After this you can easily see if the point cloud matches the background image from the virtual cameras perspective. When the point cloud matches the background image the 3D model can be imported to the scene. Using the point cloud as a reference, the model can be placed at the correct distance from the virtual camera.

Ok Done......Too much Talk. Just my Layman's understanding of it.

See some sample.

This thread is full of Talents.

We are currently looking out for talents to join the first 3D print Marketplace in Africa.

We are building a marketplace where you can earn from your designs.

Experts in blender, rhinoceros, TinkerCAD and other design software are invited to join this initiative.

I have spoken with several 3D designers on nairaland about a marketplace where you can earn a living with your skills. The idea has been well recieved. I will like to collate suggestions and ideas from designers. Our vision is to have this as a marketplace, the biggest in Africa. We are coming up with plans and guidelines for this marketplace. We what it to he community driven. An opensource initiative. 3D modelling and 3D printing is the future of manufacturing and technology. We believe you can succeed. We will drive you to succeed. Get back to me. support@afera3d.com or hop over to facebook.com/afera3d.com. Lets create the future together!

Went back to my Snake. I'll christen her Pandora Nneka.
Want to use her to learn Serpentine movements.
Rigged with Blender and rendered in Octane.

Will like anyone (those that still manage to peep in here....on this dying thread) to critique.

Working on the tongue.

Hello guys...
A barely two weeks old blender noob here smiley
I intend to build a 3rd person game as my final year project, to do this, I realized I'd have to build some of the game assets myself....& that's how I found blender...!

The last few days have been really exciting as I've been learning the basics of blender, using BornCG's tutorials:

https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLda3VoSoc_TR7X7wfblBGiRz-bvhKpGkS

I've only seen 17 out of a total of 40 videos, it'll be great if the blender bosses (Shimish, kazuna et al) in the house can check out the playlist & comment on the outline... I guess I'd like to know if I'm learning blender in the most effective way smiley

Anyway, after watching those videos, I attempted putting some of the concepts to use... below is my very first attempt at 3D modeling & animation... Please comment, criticize, encourage, advice... etc

You're good . The lightning (I had never believed in photo real lightning) concept is sci-fish. You get this sense something will turn on and say "Scanning, All protocols engaged. You are having un-authorise access. Warning (4x)"

Channeling Wall-E.....hahaha

JUST MAKE THE INTERNET UR BEST FRIEND IN CG.

And try to choose a specific field of CG to delve into, unless you feel like being a generalist. Its always hard the first few months but over time things get into your bloodstream. And try to always seek out like minds in your neighborhood. DO CG TO BEAT THE WEST AT THEIR GAME AND NOT TO BETHE FIRST OR THE BEST IN NIGERIA.
