I beg to disagree. The pope can request that plane anytime he wants. It is reserved for him. In essence, the state itself has bought a jet for the pope.

Now compare that with a pastor preaching a sermon in one city on saturday night, and another sermon in another time zone the next morning. Obviously driving is not feasible. Neither can you carry all your staff for 4-5 hour wait at the airport every weekend, assuming you can even find a flight when you want. Have you ever flown a 12 hour flight before? What evangelist is going to try a world missions trip lasting a 3 months flying every two to three days. Even Reinhard Bonnke, on moving to the US, needed a private jet. God so kind, he found a preacher that gave it to him for free!

Are there carnal christians and pastors that lust after jets because it is a status symbol? Yeah. But there are also carnal christians, like you, who think all there is to a plane is the status symbol. The plane is a tool. Its very effective for Ceos, vps , presidents because they can get from point a to point b quickly. . And it is a very effective tool for moving significant ministry resources from point a to point b at a moments notice

Thank u for enlightening their dark mind. Private jet is a big deal to some pple. i love what u wrote.

The Pope's US visit was a triumph in upholding Christ teachings. If anything, one thing it does teaches us is that you don't need a private jet, nor a limousine nor even the most expensive carrier to ride in to do God's work.

It teaches us humility in the face of plenty, humbleness in the face of pride, and godliness to silence the greedy and the new generation pastors we have been condoning.

Creflor Dollar needed a $65,000 jet to do God's work ( his congregation are currently donating the money ). Adeboye, Oyedepo et al also need this amount of money to do God's work. Pope rode in a $20k mini series car. He specifically demanded this because " as a man of God you cannot live confortably and ride the most expensive cars whilst the children of God are suffering".

Over to the gullible Nigerian pastors defenders.

20000x200=#4000000. Dats stil too much koz sme ppl dnt hv food to eat in their houses. I tink he should sell d car nd giv d money includin all his assets to the poor den trek bck to Rome koz Jesus christ nvr used a car.if e does that, then i wil see reasons to agree wif u. For now u re talkin shiit....

Let JESUS whom we imitate be an example for us to follow.....u been in another city within a minute is nt an excuse for a jet..........rember u cn deceive pple to give u dia money bt u cnt deceive GOD and GOD is nt deceived.............if u re for Christ let humility and meekness be the definition of ur life............rember the word of God in JOHN ""DO NOT LOVE THE WORLD......."

It's not too late; they shd sell it and donate it back to the chruch. It's God's money before it's too late.

I have always said this and do not even need POPE to maintain this stand.

The Pope is wrong. How can we respect him as a man of God if he travels amongst the common people? How can we glorify one who does not glorify himself? He is a messenger of God!! He should reflect God's power accordingly. We do not exalt those on our own level. A true pastor must SHOW he is above us in every way.

The Vatican has billions and BILLIONS in precious metals and stones but this pope does not display any of this for us to admire. If we cannot SEE and admire a man's power and wealth how can we follow him and give unto his glory?

This pope is a disgrace to Christianity. A man of God cannot be humble. He must be mighty as God is mighty.Fly your private jet, Papa Oyedepo! Wear your Rolex, Papa Adeboye. the pope is richer than all the nigerian pastors put together. He is the president of the Dominican republic. dnt compare them pls.

mind you, who employed you to judge God's anointed?
they were solely employed by God , and answerable to Him alone......(ask miriam, the sis of moses).
the pope is not the president of the Dominican republic.

You are also confusing the vatican wealth with the pope's wealth, the pope is not rich, he is given a stiped every month by the church.

It is like confusing Nigerias wealth with that of its president.

The OP is trying to make a point but he fails to put certain things into consideration eg. The Vatican city where the Pope reign as an indirect ruler is treated partially as a separate country and the Catholic Church have the largest congregation in the whole world;

My point: millions of dollars accrue to the church on monthly basis from tithes, offerings from members, donations from members, governments & organisations & rent/ payments from firms operating in the Vatican city etc. I believe that the Vatican have several planes but the pope trends to fly as he so wish in other to show the world that various reforms are going on in the Vatican.

Now taking about men of God outside the catholic church, my believe is that some of them fly private jets for good reasons while several do it just to show class.

use common sense here, forget the tight schedule you have brought up.
we are in the technology age, messages can be streamed so flying at the expense of the congregation is not necessary

even with the jet, it is still possible that he wont be able to to deliver 50 teaching in different parts of the world in a day.
so what is your point?

there are many in burundi, somalia, iraq, afganistan
No!
US, UK, France needs to hear the word first?

I hope you are joking. Cos I'm really trying hard not to say anything offensive to you in response to your post. You could just have easily said you see nothing wrong in the lifestyle of Nigerian pastors and ended your statement there. That would ve been a lot more preferable. Instead of all the ******** stuff you ended up typing. smiley The Bible & the lifestyle of Jesus teaches love, HUMILITY and sacrifice. Sacrifice for the poor, sacrifice for the needy and those around us. Not pride, EXALTATION, and greed / covetousness. If one is wealthy/rich as a true Christian, fine. That's just a sweet bonus. But it should NEVER be viewed as your main calling card to prove you are a Christian. Our true hope & fight & desire is for the rewards in the next life, not on the 'bonuses' we may hope to get in this.

True talk. He should have rode on a donkey or even trek so that we will know he is humble.

They said Jesus rode on a donkey but they forgot someone owned the donkey and if our pastors acted the way Jesus got the donkey, they will still complain.

Its good that the pastors don't respond/reply to the bashing

You're the ignorant one. This pope calls himself a poor pope, a pope for the poor. He does not believe that to preach God's word you have to be rich. And people have taken note. He's the most respected religious leader on earth. He says something and people listen. He advised the leader of the US Congress to resign and the man did the very next day. Let's stop deceiving ourselves.
