Ujulabelle:

Do u think Emir of Kano is more powerful than Sultan of Sokoto or Gwandu? I think u don't have full cognisance of English language because if u do, u will understand d meaning of "custodian". Obi of Onitsha might be influential but he isn't d custodian of Igbo culture. Onitsha isn't Igbo according to history. They migrated to Igboland. How then will a stranger who ccame from Delta area be a custodian of a culture that had existed b4 he came? Even Onitsha ppl can testify to dat bcs dey still claim they are not Igbo. Don't derogate Igbo heritage. Hence, I will unmask ur venomous derogary remark. Igbo may not hv kings b4 colonialism doesn't mean they don't h strong political n administrative system. Shalom
THIS IS TRUE.

My advice to Anambrians in general is that they should take time and learn Igbo history from all parts of Igboland so as not to create unnecessary crisis in Igboland with blasphemous assertions borne out of ignorance.

Igbos are not from one source and don't even practice a particular tradition and that is our strength. The attempt by a small part to impose their own belief on others will only create disunity as we have on this thread. An average Onitsha man cannot understand Igbo spoken in all parts of Abia and Ebonyi States. There is no Ozo title in those parts but the ethnicity remains unquestionably one Igbo.

Shove your gibberish into your a.ss. Why should an Onitsha man bother himself learning how other Igbos speak in those states you mentioned, when his own version of Igbo is the most sought after and other Igbos particularly from outside the state want to speak Onitsha(Anambra) Igbo because of how it flows? Even the original Igbo bible was written in Onitsha(Anambra) Igbo. Go and find out..

Like as I said earlier we are not interested in your village chiefs and elders. We are talking about the most influential and powerful king in Igboland.

We are talking about the king that people from within and outside pays homage for either political reasons or otherwise.

Typical hinterland igbo behaviour.Every time "ndigbo enwero eze, ndigbo enwero eze".Do you think Onitshans wanted to identify as igbo in the first place?precolonially, igbos without kings were at the bottom of the social hierarchy among tribes in the south, all they were good for was farmwork and thats why they were mostly sold as slaves by the Ijaw and Efiks.Onitshans got their social exposure from the great Benin Empire, which was majestic and very prestigious centuries back and hence with that kind of pride, they were condescending towards igbos-who could not properly organize themselves socially.Onitshan,Aniomas,Aros also grew wealthy from coastal trade in the past and had started wearing clothes when you bush igbo people were still running around naked with your änyi enwero eze" trope. The Akwa-Ocha cloth has been worn for centuries. Not that clownish Isi Agu atture!
Till date, the Enu Onitsha man wiil prefer his daughter not to marry from interior igboland but rather from Onitsha westwards(Anioma,Benin,Nigerdelta,Yoruba or even Igala)
Igbos and unnecessary pride......ordinary respect a grand King is hard, and you expect to produce the President of Nigeria? When you cant organize yourselves socially.Jokers
Vulture alert! Umu Igbo take note. He is not from Onitsha.

The Obi of Onitsha, though well-reknowned,is not the foremost King in Igboland nor is he the custodian of Igbo culture.
He's deserving of respect and accolade, but you went overboard with that.

If he's not then who is, your dad? Please he's the most respected king in Igbo land

This nuisance stop disturbing us here with your silly argument. He has made his point and I and so many others believed him. Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe is the foremost king in Igbo-land. He is the most revered as he has received visitor who came to pay homage from and outside the country. He is equally very powerful as his words can ignite the people as the foremost king in Igbo-land. If you can't accept that reality then go and kill yourself. Simple! cool

Your argument is silly go to bed , learn to know the difference between custodian and being famous

Lmao.....A true Onicha man mentality.
I tried to be a different person and be nice to these cowards who were chased away from Bini all the way to my father's land and we being our reasonable and peaceful people accepted your weak forefathers and blessed you with our beautiful culture.....Ofala,Igba Odu,Nze na Ozo. Nigga,Onicha man got western education first because of their location and used it to steal peoples land....When Akum Nweze Odogwu,Igwe Umuoji was still alive Ofala Okagbue can't break kola in his presence. You talk about trade but your people are not known traders nor blacksmiths....Just peasant farmers. Nothing special about you and your people....Flavour nabania ffucked your Igwes daughter and gave her baby and dumped her and he'll didn't let lose....An Onicha chic once wanted to be my second wife but I am not interested in polygamy. You need to shut d ffuck up and hide your face....A common Bini a.ss licker like you shouldn't speak when I speak, eediot! You borrowed everything you have today from land to culture to education and I bet your Igwe Achebe knows how to be humble before Anambrarians. I have never met an Onicha man who will disrespect me.....Look at this weak a.ss punk!!
Why did you fall for that impostor? I'm disappointed in you. At least read a comment twice and ponder before replying nwanna.

Dunce shut up. We are not saying because Obi of Onitsha is the most influential and most powerful KING in Igboland that by that stand he is ruling the whole Igboland. We are saying that he is the foremost KING in Igboland. All other kings with the exception of Eze Nri and Igwe Orizu of Nnewi are all inconsequential village rulers.
[/s]
You're an obtuse bastard! There's no "foremost king'' in Igboland. Your Obi can be the champion of your locality but not in all Igboland. Just shut your stinky mouth, fool!

So many people here don't know how powerful EZE NRI is.
Just because he is not a political king doesn't mean you should play or compare with that title anyhow.
EZE NRI doesn't make much noise, but I guess our prominent men and even other kings fear and respect him.
The EZE NRI by custom and other sacred rules guiding him is not suppose to exhibit flamboyant and public shows like other Igbo kings.
EZE NRI holds the ofor Igbo, and you know what that means...
God bless Igboland.
Shalom.

Everyone hold your peace!

It is a fact that most of these people claiming to have "most influential kings" are not proper Igbos in real sense.

Onitshas are hybrid Igbos whose ancestry is traceable to Benin; a fact that have never been disputed or refuted. They are even more comfortable identifying with Benins than Igbos. For the avoidance of doubt why is he called Agbogidi? What does that mean in Igbo?

As for Nri stock, facts kiss are beginning to emerge that they have Igala ancestory. They have been smart to deceive the authentic Igbos with their concocted history of ERI and GAD.

I strongly believe that "Igbo enweghi Eze". I make bold to say that most of you making claims of superiority of your king over others ARE NOT NDIGBO. You either ORU (hybreed) or MBIARA-ABIA (migrants).
There's nothing like hybrid Igbos so take note. No group of people are entirely pure breed. There must be a mix some where. Even my home town became mixed during the civil war. Name your town and after a thorough research I'll tell you how mixed you are. Igbo bu ofu.

Igwe of Orlu - is there any Igbo that doesn't know about the Igwe of Orlu?
The most famous Igwe of Orlu was a Senator that represented Orlu senatorial district in the first republic.

Until he died a few years ago, traditional rulers from different parts of Nigeria, including the Emir of Kano, came to Orlu nearly every year he celebrated his years on the throne.
His son that was about to take over his stool unfortunately died a Supreme Court judge.

A very relatively young son of the judge - a medical practioner - is the Igwe of Orlu today.
He doesn't get much into politics, perhaps that's why the likes of chino/OdenigboAroli the politician may not have heard about him.

Meanwhile, it's colourful the celebration of Obi of O'sha.
Help me tell them biko. They think First class Kings are only found in Anambra.
