Hi Everyone,

I have been following this thread for a while now and it has been quite enlightening. I applied for B1/B2 for my son who is going for medical treatment. The interview was today and he was granted the visa. I am delighted. grin

$800 is expensive...but then, because of its proximity to the conference venue you may want to just stay there for convenience...(if you add the cost of transportation etc, it might turn out to be cheaper)... I will be staying at the same hotel where my conference (also in Philadelphia, also on market street and also next week...hehehe) is taking place- and it is just over $1600 for 7 nights- but then, I am not the one paying smiley smiley

That would be Marriott Downtown Philadelphia... It's a cool place to stay if you're not paying the bills. tongue

I think the best approach is to answer the question below truthfully.

Have you ever sought to obtain or assist others to obtain a visa, entry into the United States, or any other United States immigration benefit by fraud or willful misrepresentation or other unlawful? YES

Then do the explanation.

Abi wetin u talk LadyG?

How then will poster explain that in the first application he/she graduated from XYZ University with Bsc Chemistry and now it is XYZ Polytechnics HND Banking? Or How does He/She explain that in the first application, Father's name was Mr. Buhari and Now it is Mr. Osibanjo?

Though it is a known fact that VOs' always ask if applicants have ever travelled out of their home country and since you have not, the onus is on you to demonstrate to the VO why you are visiting the US and you shall return back to your home country at the end of your visit without violating the visa rules. Invitation letter is inconsequential in US visa application. It is not a requirement, but be ready to answer questions on this subject, why your friend is inviting you, his/her status in the US, how they got to the US, occupation and what have you!!!

The most prudent thing would be for your girlfriend to visit you in Nigeria, otherwise use a hotel reservation and leave her out of your application. If you choose to visit her, it's a red flag and to be brutally honest, you'll probably be refused. There is 99% chances of your visa getting refused because interviewing officer will see you as an intending immigrant who wants to go and marry a US citizen.

You might want to wait for the input of the iron lady (LadyG)

you may want to read part 1 of this thread to see how visa interview transcripts are posted. One of the reasons for detailed transcripts is to enable aspiring applicants gain one or two cues.

Hey ma'am. Congrats, but this is not a transcript.

A transcript should be detailed, we're not interested in your name and work place. At least occupation, designation, monthly wages, duties and responsibilities should be included. No one will code you by so doing.

cheesy kai! I will add this title to ma letter head o! Five star! Iron Lady! Thanku! Thanku! I remain ya humble servant. Lolz
For Hommikr I agree that a single guy visiting a single lady may raise red flags. But he should provide a short profile of himself. What does he do? Howw much does he earn? Etc. All those factors may weigh heavier than the mere fact that he's single.BUT with no travel history? For now, IMO the scale is not in his favour at all at all

What I wrote earlier was all I was asked. He didn't ask me any of the questions you stated. Nothing about monthly wage etc. The VO simply wanted to know where hubby works and was satisfied once I mentioned the name of the company.

I have read Part 1. My interview was rather short. The VO didn't ask any of the usual questions. he was only interested in the following
1. If I already had a visa
2. Where I was going to stay
3. Who is paying for the trip
4. What my hubby does.

Dasall!

@FPL I agree with u o I think... Na learn we de learn everyday. @iryan Look at it this way, Mr/z Bamjazzy riddled his previous application with lies and misrepresentations. His actions fall under both fraud and misrepresentation(whether willfull or not)
Have you ever sought to obtain or assist others to obtain a visa, entry into the United States, or any other United States immigration benefit by fraud or willful misrepresentation or other unlawful...
The key to success is honesty and owning up to your gbese. I bet nobody ever answers yes to that question. In fact this is just the apprioprate time to admit to that clause.
Moreso his forms (both past and present) will speak for itself as to the intended fraud so its better he admits it ist. Best case scenario- he gets the visa . Worst case he's denied but its on record he came clean and I bet u, the next time dem go give am
