Please can somebody advise me; Honda Odyssey 2002 Model. I changed the ATF with Honda DW I which I bought in Enugu and I was on speed after two weeks and the gear missed and later picked up and continued. Some minutes later it stop picking gear. I used D3 and D1 to get to my destination. Although it stopped a lot of times. I got home and I packed it in the morning, I started the car moved it and it moved but later refuse to enter gear. So what I noticed is that once you start the car the gear will work, but immediately the gear heats up, the gear will not work again. I was adviced to change the ATF again with Dextron III (because we suspected that the Honda DW I was a fake ATF) which I did and still the same problem. please what is the problem and what do I do. I need urgent advice.

How competent is the repair mechanic? Any referral? Any warranty? Ask him to describe how that transmission works. Tell him another mechanic told you it is the planetary gear that broke. If he agrees or disagrees, he is not competent. Hondas don't have planetary gears! If this is established, go look for a replacement transmission, it will be cheaper, given your car's age.

Pls where can I get original atf z1 and atf dw1 in port harcourt. I drive an accord 2008. I changed the gbox oil recently to oando dexron iii as recommended by my mechanic. I can see a mistake. Is there a reliable source in port Harcourt I can buy from? Pls treat as urgent.

please I have a 2003 e.o.d Honda accord v4 that would jerk and its engine would go off while am trying to accelerate up a hilly road. I changed the fuel pump and the jerking and quenching stopped but it now drags when ever I try to accelerate and would not go pass 80km/h even after stepping on the gas completely, and would not select gears well. I am thinking of changing the atf. Please what else can I do to it? I have changed plugs,engine seat(back side) and engine oil . I just got this car, naija used. Expecting your reply Sir.

My boss, abeg the gear shifter (lever) of my '99 model Honda accord (baby boy) got stuck on park, even after depressing d brake pedal, it jst refused to move. I then forced it into reverse, I can now change normally between R, D and N bt has refused to return to park(P). pls wat could be d problem and what is the likely solutions. will b very grateful for ur advice

@kashif - I checked my gear oil(Audi 80) and discovered it was low. Went for a top-up @ filling station with Mobil atf dextron 2 but now after each drive, gear oil re-gouge out from the gear leaving a mass of oil on the floor. Also the engine jerks on acceleration and when I brake in traffic, the selector does not return to low immediately.

Did you scan the car before replacing transmission? If yes, any code? If no, do that first. You are likely facing electrical or cooling problem.

I have a corrola 95 very sound engine and flies .my tranny started messing up last Sunday.

Hello Car gurus in the house. I recently bought a 1999 honda accord European model. While bringing the car from Lagos to the east, I noticed that when I slowed and braked to a stop due to bad portions on the road, I feel the gear downshifting from probably gear two to one in the form of a slight jack. If i want to move also, If i do not accelerate gently, the car will vibrate but if I accelerate gently it moves normally. The gear shifts normally and fully in driving. Should I be worried or is the normal way way the gear system works. Pls note that no check light is on and the gear system is both Auto and manual combine. Thanks

Is not only ATF that can cause the Gear Problems, it could wiring system that had been tempered with by rat, so you need to conduct proper physical inspection with the aid of reading the wiring diagram in All-data to ascertain it or sometime the Car owner may not be mindful about liquid around Shift area, which can drop and cause damage to some circuit or bridging it. Sometime the Strainer filter may be block with dirt, you need to remove it and wash it with liquid (Kerosene), and you must fix the gearbox that day, not overnight.

Problem is centered around the p0325 (knock sensor code) I don't have details about your vehicle but I'm very sure that's your culprit.

The other codes are important too and should be taken care of.

All through the thread the OP and other supporting gurus did not even make mention of the mercedes transmission and even when asked they only confirmed they could fix it but no answers giving to the people that asked bout the V boot and the A160,not even the recommended oil was said,and all that came talked mostly on Honda and Toyotas.now curious
Is it that the benz hardly have transmission issues compared with other brands discussed
Or they don't have answers to those that asked bout them
Or in every 1000 car users in Nigeria u see only 5benz?

Please Doc. What's your professional advise on the steps to take secondly if is possible can you recommend any one within Bayelsa that can fix this issue for me please??

Did all these start after the oil change? What did the expert say is wrong? A couple of issues will cause hard engagement, ranging from worn clutches to leaking accumulators to atf.
