Hi all

I'm British born, living in the UK

I am not sure if this has been covered anywhere before, I did a search on Nairaland to no avail smiley

I travel a lot to Nigeria to see my husband, and we are living in separate countries due to the stringent UK immigration laws on spouse visas.

I have been to Nigeria 3 times in the last 12 months and each time I have had to get a visit visa which is in the region of £300 each time before flight tickets and antimalarial drugs.

If not for this I would be able to fly more often to see my hubby.

I came across this site after intrusive research and i think i have finally found the answer, I just need to know if i can apply for this CERPAC (Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card)-Exempted Persons (Diplomats, Government Officials (GO’s), Niger-wives, Non Governmental Organization (NGO’s) are to be issued CERPAC Gratis.

the web link is http://www.immigration.gov.ng/index.php?id=7

NIGER-WIVES

Formal letter of request from Nigerian husband accepting Immigration Responsibility
Formal letter of request from the wife
Photocopies of the first five (5) pages of husband’s Nigeria Standard passport
Photocopy of marriage Certificate
Duly completed form IMM22 in triplicate copies with three (3) recent passport photographs
Applicant’s National Passport

There is nothing that mentions if I need to be living in Nigeria to qualify for this, I would greatly appreciate any input from those who have or know of someone who has applied for this before.

Kind Regards

@op: i suggest you speak to your husband about this. he can easily seek clarification by visiting the immigrations office here in nigeria. best of luck.

A Niger-wife is a foreign or alien woman married to a man who is a Nigerian citizen. The term is actually the shortened form of Nigerian wife and is the official term used by the Nigerian Immigration Service for a non-Nigerian woman married to a Nigerian. There exists an association of foreign wives married to Nigerians called “Niger-wives Association”; they started meeting in Lagos in 1979 and called themselves Niger-wives which in turn has become the official term used by the Nigerian Immigration Service.

I have asked hubby to find out, and I've emailed the Nigerian High Commission here in the UK, would be amazing if I could then I can see hubby more then 6 monthly.

What ever I find out I will definitely share on here, for others to see as this is interesting, and i know many people are against mixed relationships/marriage but I personally would never allow others opinions to cloud my mind over my husband and I.

thank you and God bless

Subject: NIGER WIFE VISA

Hi

Please could you advise how I go about applying for the Niger wife visa, my husband is Nigerian and resides in Lagos.

I am trying to apply as his wife for the indefinite re-entry into Nigeria so that I can visit him more often than I can at the moment with the high visa fees as a visitor, it is preventing us having a right to family life.

Thank you

Karen

So I am seeing positive results from my investigation smiley

I am now awaiting for further clarification from the Nigerian High Commission, this could help so many non Nigerian spouses to be able to travel to Nigeria without having to keep paying visitor visa fees... God bless us all smiley

I will be replying as I am sure the Niger Wife fees are exempt smiley

I am sure they will, most of those email addresses came back with error though despite them being on the main Immigration website and under the contact us page on ministry of interior affairs.

I will email them the same response every week until they get so bored that they have to respond haha smiley

NIGERIAN’S SPOUSE VISA Apply for a Nigerian’s Spouse Visa if you can provide a marriage certificate. If you are not legally married please apply for a Visitor’s Visa.

Good day Sir/Madam

I was wondering if you could kindly assist me.

I am a British citizen, living in the UK, I am married to a Nigerian National who is still resident in Lagos.

I have traveled to Lagos on my own now 3 times in the last 12 months and we got married in Ikoyi in March 2015'

I have been researching day and night to find out about Visa’s into Nigeria as at the moment I have been paying around £300 for each visitor’s visa, which of course when added to the cost of flights, travel insurance and antimalarial medication, is quite a lot before I can depart for Lagos and I would love to be able to see my husband more often than I have been.

I would like to know if I can apply for the Niger wife (CERPAC) visa that I have come to discover its existence.

Thank you in advance

Karen

I got a niger wife visa very easily in owerri. I went to immigration. It was free and I got a temporary resident permit with it also. I think they last for the life of your passport. I need to get a new passport so will have to get visa and when i go back to nigeria get it put on my new passport.

Did you get it after entering on a visitor visa?
If you got it in Owerri then I should be able to get this in Lagos, do you think?

FYI..For expired visas I would imagine you can just travel with both passports smiley
