Hopes of the current drop in power being resolved very soon by the Federal Government were shot down on Friday after the presidency blamed Nigerians for being behind the decrease in electricity supply.

According to presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, Nigerians are the ones that vandalized electricity installations in different parts of the country after the supply reached a 16-year-high of over 5000 megawatts.

Speaking live on a radio show monitored by Greennews.ng in Lagos on Friday morning, Adesina wondered how the government could do its job when miscreants in places like Bayelsa choose to vandalize gas and electricity installations.

“Do you remember that some time ago, the supply of power reached over 5000 megawatts. That was even more than how much had been generated in 16 years but then some people went to destroy government installations thereby dropping power to so low as it is now.

“Who do we blame for that? When the power ministry announced that we had about 5000 megawatts about three weeks ago, it also promised that by December, another 2000 megawatts to be added to it. That will give 7000 megawatts.

“That generated a lot of hopes. But those hopes were dampened when few days after you was announced, they begin to blow installations and you lose 3000 megawatts, and December, like you said, you want to go to 7000. But when they continue with this sabotage, how will it get there?” he queried.

On the issue of the present economic hardships Nigerians are facing, Adesina said patience was the key word, noting that people are just complaining without understanding the processes involved. He noted that with the new administration having spent just about nine months in office taking over in May, 2015, Nigerians would have to wait for another nine months before they can tackle the presidency on the state of the economy.

“It will take 18 months to retool this economy. The president has said that, it is just that Nigerians don’t listen,” he said.

Since the inception of APC government, it has been one blame game or the other.

Mostly it was GEJ

Then, OBJ, IBB

Later God

Now it 's 200 million Nigerians!!

Soon, they will start mentioning our individual names according to region and apportioning blame

E.G: Ajebuter is responsible for break in transmission on NTA

Olajumoke: na you cause bread shortage and hike in prices of baking ingredients

Baba Kudi eleran is responsible for hunger in the country

Mallam Bature should be blamed for his failure to polish our shoes

Mazi Eze takes the blame for hike in shipment fees

Firefire is to blame for Aisha burnt jollof rice and fried chicken

Barcanista takes the blame for dwindling fortune of EFCC

Ngenekunu is responsible for fall in naira

Get the drift?!

Nigerians: Brace yourselves for a bumpy ride till 2019.

As for me, it's comedy time grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Government is elected to solve problems not look for scapegoats. Instead of always looking for whom to blame at every failure why don't this government work? I'm beginning to lose respect for the Adesina I reverd so much on Friday Daily Sun.

Mr Adesina, power vandalization didn't start with this administration, it has been an age long problem since our democratic inception.

It is true that it is being done by Nigerians but PMB was elected to stop this anomaly, blaming Nigerians isn't taking responsibility; government should a matter of fact find those behind these and bring them to book.

This is the only way to curtail vandalism and not trading blames as is the case now.
