I am also a graduate of BFN with 4.46, I have never worked in the bank before and I don't pray to work with any commercial bank.

Discover your talent, build it, market it, it will surprise you the money will come.

Instead of sitting at home why not go and teach? I think teaching work isn't difficult to get though much stress with little pay but it's better than staying at home and developing a headache and keeping your brain idle.

We r in the same shoe bro,graduate from school wt a good grade in Geophysics wt certification in HSSE level 1 to 3 also did project management,upon all no job,I have to pick up my life from there and get a teaching job,combined wt home lesson,thou my total take home at the end of each month is almost 30k,upon the 30k am almost done wt my Msc degrees. I dont think 'poor' is the best choice of word here, OP's CGPA is good, however its just not good enough to be appended with the class of degree.

Meanwhile, OP remain hopeful, prayerful and persistent in all. If your passion is banking/finance, pursue it no matter what!

Poor in this case doesn't mean lack of money, it means not too good. In the context of that 3.7, 3.8 it is poor. I was aware your were referring to his performance and I quite agree with your judgement, I guess thats the typical "Nigerian graduate" problem; having a sense of achievement when we graduate and being rest when its a 2.1, heightened by how older folks would "hail" us like its a big deal these days. I believe the right mind set is 'believing you are not good enough so that you equip yourself with practical skills your industry requires.

Don't sit around for handouts...just find any legit thing no matter how small and start from there.

Exactly! We are on the same page now. There should be a mind shift in young people today, the way some people attach importance to unimportant things is a problem, and before you know it, they begin to feel a sense of entitlement for no reason!

I look at my cert devoid of CGPA and the area I majored in and I tell myself it should be in my head as a defense and not on paper for a show. It's well sha, we are all work in progress. We'll get there soon.

Oga, I will clap because you made 3.7 CGPA. You better look beyond your grade and get yourself engaged in any job for now(sales jobs, teaching, factory worker etc) irrespective of the pay otherwise, you wil remain jobless with your 3.7 CGPA Ego. After my NYSC in June, 2012, I engaged myself in different DIRTY jobs for two and half years before I got a job in the Bank where I am now.

So, my man, please throw your grade aside, enter street and work.

What am I saying? Much respect will be given to someone who finished with a CGPA of 3.7 in a double honour course like Engineering than someone who finished with similar grade in education courses.
OP shouldn't have gone to such extent as attaching CGPA to his post. The truth is, what you have in your head can fend for your needs but your class of degree or CGPA can't. Nigerian education system is so broken in such a way that what you learned or achieved in a university ends within the four wall of a university. There are so many people with much better CGPA than OP yet unemployed. the product of a broken education system, when channelled into an already broken Nigerian Labour system will consequently yield no result. So OP forget your class of degree and wake up to reality.

Dear Damilaresimon25, information is everything. You're on NL, new jobs are posted here everyday. Have you checked the etisalat thread? They are still calling candidates. Putting up a thread to solicit beg for a job is unbecoming of a 2:1 graduate. Though I might not know what you're going through at the moment, but I know you have access to the internet.


amicable09, 3.7CGPA is not a poor grade, it's quite surprising to see you say this and defend it with relativity. It's fine to advise but be careful how you give that advice because you don't know the state of the OP. Him putting up his grade is not totally wrong, and it doesn't in anyway says he's better than others but merely stating his qualifications and what he has to offer.


Others who have gone ahead to bash the op, let's try to apply wisdom in our dealings with others. Op is merely looking for a job, his approach may be wrong but again, we don't know his present circumstances.
