I agree with nihilist

Those players who are not good enough to make the team of the foreign country should not be invited

Some of them after seeing they have no hope to make English team they all remember that their grandfather was born to Nigerian parents.

As a start anyone not playing first division football regularly should not be invited for Eagles. I would rather they gather a bunch of home based and expose them even if we lose

I remember in the early 90's those type of players(Rueben Agboola) started returning because they cant get a shirt in their new country. Some of these players have very little ties to Nigeria aside the I was born and left at 2yrs old

Those Foreign players would just give money to Larry Echiejile(Izamoje) and he would start shouting about them everyday till NFA calls them. Those days before France 98 na so he dey promote one Francis Okaroh from MLS later in the 2000 he started with Peter Ijeh

Those days Efan Ekoku, John Salako Chris Armstrong etc started romancing Nigeria after we qualified for the world cup when they knew that was their only way of playing at the world cup at the end of the day I think Nduka Ugbade(Who played U-17, U-21) was dropped and that useless two left legged Efan Ekoku was taken

BTW is Anthony Ujah invited to Eagles?

Johann Cruyff is dead. Rip.

The guy is described as one of the best that ever did it. Did any of you lot watch him play? Afrodoc2 Raumdeuter Ibime

I started watching soccer the year he retired so I never watched him while he played. However as a childhood Ajax and Oranje fan I have watched hours and hours of tape. He and Di Stefano are probably the 2 most under rated of the all time greats.
He was voted European player of the century by the International Federation of football history and statistics

You can't hate on Ruben Agboola. That ninja performed for SE.

Emenalo got into the squad at the expense of Ugbade.
Ugbade was meant to to go as back up to Iroha but was dropped at the last moment by Westerhoff for Emenalo who had little international experience with that team but was tight with the mafia.

There is difference in positions which is why I only mentioned defenders.

For a start I cant stomach British style midfielders like Dixon Etuhu who no fit trap ball playing for SE when I know most Naija trained boys can play that position more comfortably.

On the flip side, our local leagues do not train defenders well which is why you see them defending like brainless cretins. I would rather take a European trained defender at Championship level than an NPL defender who mostly defend with their brain in their anuus. All those boys I mentioned are better than our current defenders by far. Oboabona is the only one who can keep his shirt if you bring those boys in.

You are right. But I think Emenalo was even clubless before US94 or no one knew where he played. He just came from nowhere.

I don't remember any game he played for Nigeria before or after the World cup

1) Emenalo was clubless living in Yankee before USA 94, Stephen Keshi lived in Yankee during the offseason with his family

2) Keshi was The Big Boss and head of the mafia.

3) Ugbade was struggling a bit with niggling injuries and not expected to play anyway cos of Iroha's unbelievable form. So that spot was just to fill quota.

So people connected the dots and the belief is that Keshi sidelined Nduka who was an introvert in order to make the dreams of his Yankee based friend come true.

Ibime if we look am well the British trained defenders have been some of the worst in Eagles. Some of them cant even control the ball.

Think of Abbey George, Danny Shittu, and the worst Nigerian footballer of all time Efe Sodje. God punish Onigbinde for allowing that useless maga wear Nigerian Jersey

The Nigerian trained can be very rash in tackle and lack ability to build play from back because of our local football training in Nigeria where its only wicked and mean people who play defence and their aim is to break legs

The criteria for being a defender in Nigeria from youth: You are big, You are dark, you are wicked, you have no skill to play other position, But you are so wicked they must always select you else you would beat everyone up. You can boot the ball very far away

I remember in secondary school one guy like that in defence he even had tribal marks and would tell you say he know say he cant make a career out of football because of tribal marks but he would ensure you dont have a football career as well. In every game he would break at least 2 legs you would see people crying and limping home. (Ahh Ibrahim... E no go better for you ooo). I just learnt to avoid him and stay in offside position where he would forget me. After I score from that offside position na to run away from the field because he would still come and beat you for scoring

Agboola was popular partly because of his complexion but also because he was a better technical player and better going forward than the other players. Then we were basically playing centre backs at full back position

Look at the alternatives. Egwueke and co? Spits.

The 3 players I mentioned are quality and just a matter of time before they are playing in the Prem.

Nigerias best defenders (Oboabona and Omeruo) are no higher than Championship level. Omeruo could not break into Middlesbrough team last year.

Compare and contrast with Odubajo (Championship best 11), Dominic Iorfa (Championship best 11 and wanted by many Prem clubs) and Jordan Obita (wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool before his injury).

You can see that these players are better than our first team defenders and all young players who are heading for the Prem, not like Sodje and Abbey who spent the bulk of their careers in League1 and League2.

Also if you are old enough you will know Dominic Iorfa is not some foreigner because his father played for Super Eagles. He is as much Nigerian as Alex Iwobi whose uncle is JayJay Okocha.

Also Danny Shittu was Naijas best defender when he played for Eagles. Its all about what alternatives there are and Danny was better than the alternatives. While Joseph Yobo used to dance Azonto when anyone ran at him from 2008 onward, Shittu was the one keeping it solid.

Wow I didn't know Dominic Iorfa's dad played for SE...

But I know Dominic fairly well from TV and FM2016. I think he was born and raised in the UK. He is definitely not 'Nigerian' and if he was good enough he would probably be playing for England

I understand your point though...and your position is very sound. It's just annoying that these short1 players only remember us when they want to use idea to get international cap.

As I'm typing this, I'm just seeing Shola Bag of Beans Ameobi in my minds eye and I feel like puking

The father name sef na Dominic Iorfa he played for Nigeria. I remember him for being a speedy player who runs faster than the ball most times

Honestly I can stand Shola Ameobi at least he played for Newcastle, that useless bandana wearing Sodje is the worst thing that happened to football

The two sodje's can never be as bad as Bag of Beans.

It was when I watched Nigeria live vs Scotland at Craven Cottage that I understood first hand how useless Ameobi was.

The guy is as tall as a Nepa Pole but did not win a single header. He would hold up the ball and then throw away the pass.

The absolute worst thing for me was how the fool kept walking into offside positions. He wasn't running at all, but the Scottish defenders had him so far offside sometimes...you will be wondering if the fool no get eye. And obviously he's too slow to recover. I think he had one shot all game. Clear chance volleyed straight at the keeper

That guy is the worst foreign born to pull on the shirt without question

You apparently didnt watch Sodje I mean Efe sodje the Bandana wearing one. I am sure any random person can play better even Female footballer.

Sodje has no sense in his. If you notice his playing career were often in lower division. He played for over 10 clubs and none of those clubs has ever played Premier league in the past 20yrs. Its like useless recognize woeful Sodje and his clubs are a match made in heaven. He is currently 43 and still playing for macclesfield town

Sodje would just get the ball wait a few seconds and baloon the ball. I would be like what were you thinking? Not even Furo iyemeni, Jero Shakpore, Chikelue Iloanusi, Isaac Semitoje have been that useless

Ameobi used to play for Newcastle I watched many of his matches and he was average. Sodje is a curse.

But Sodje was loved by Nigerians and actually played relatively well, though still sheet. Cos I remember how people used to say his jazz was inside that do-rag.

Ameobi had like 50 goals in like 14 seasons at St James Park. That's how absolutely useless that bag of Beans was, especially when you consider that those seasons encompass a period in the championship

I think his brother is currently maintaining the Ameobi legacy of being Tall, Useless and on the fringes of the Newcastle team.

I heard he wants to play for England. grin which is very good
His delusion should keep him from inflicting himself on us.

I cant stress it enough, Bag of Beans is thr most useless feckless cluelesss foreign born to ever pull on the shirt.

I may get slagged for this, but I believe is best suited to a team that plays possession football; hence the EPL wasn't really his strong suit.

Same thing applies to the SE, Siasia (or the permanent new coach) would need to adopt the tiki-taka style for Mikel to thrive.

No doubt it is between Akwuegbu and Furo and I will give it Furo
Akwuegbu was a bit better than what he produced for us. Poor form and confidence crisis killed him.
Furo "the enemy" was a different matter. He should never have been a pro footballer would have been better served being a militant with his physique and looks.

I'd rather local players than foreign trash.

I was just saying to my guys how Super Eagles never get the quality foreign players.

Players like Alli, Ross Barkley, Ikechi Anya or even Femi Ibe.

Instead with get the turds of the foreign born battalion - The Aptly named Danny SHITtu, Abbey George and the entire Sodje dynasty. AMEOBI. Even Carl Ikeme that can't see regular shirt at Wolverhampton is our undisputed number 1.

I'd rather NPL players who are full Naija Jare..rather than the crap ones who knew they could never make England using us as a last chance for caps.
The loss of Alli, Barkley, Ibe and Anya is the fault of the NFF. They (NFF) were slacking on the job till it became too late.
But I'll commend them on their timely discovery of Iwobi, who may not be ready for the SE, but could play a part at the Olympics.
With Oliseh out of the way, Enyeama may return to the Eagles.

He played those matches for Newcastle United, was able to make the team and come off the bench. Efe played his matches for Stevenage Borough, Macclesfield Town,Bury and Gillingham and even in those comic relief teams there were times he had to come off the bench.
Amoebi had a poor career but it still outshines Efe's.
The clubs Efe played for have never been in the EPL and they won't be in next 30yrs
