Yes!
Okay then, but I am yet to see the sense in this stance, in that, this will mean that a part of god dies, when a person dies, just how do you reconcile this concept of god with death?

I said God is the energy that flows through us. Energy cannot be destroyed (law of physics). It can only change its form.

Seriously bro.. you wont understand. You feel pity for those people when you meet them cos they will not believe you if you tell them otherwise. The pschology of Religion is damn to powerful on her slave subjects. Mind you some of us in the op's shoe have to play along because, we are in a religious society. My story is so similar to that of the op.. i must commend you for writing this out, i think.. i will do mine also but not on naitraland because many are still blinded. They dnt even want to see. And personally, i hate bothering myself because of some ingrate.. i let ur experience define your decision. Till date many of my spiritual protege still refer to me as pastor, some call me bishop.. any way i dnt care.. all i know is AM A FREE MAN... There is no slavery as worse than mental/psychological one... I really pity a whole lot of theists.

My bro,

You are talking about "game of numbers", I am talking about creation and the creator. Who created the universe, why and when?

That's my quest. But you want it to be "infinite pantheons" that we should be talking about here when i want us to talk about deep mystery of the universe. Such seems not to be your fort.

If it's okay to assume they can have such a staggering population wherever they are,

what makes you think it is impossible for them to be one? If you have rights to guess the numbers, what denied me of mine?

Is it that you just isolated a flaw or "weak ability to a rational thinking" or something in my worldview just because I chose to believe something different from yours?

I want to know why you must be right and why I must be wrong. So in this probability, it's either you are right or I'm right.

I want to believe there are better explanations to how you come about your number of the population figure for the gods than "custom answer for monotheists".

What is the premises for your figures?

No where did he say it is impossible to be one . he is simply asking you why you believe the creator is 1 and not 1 million creators.

On point. HardMirror, your story can be different. You can make a come back and be better & bigger. And I am not a fanatic. I haven't even done quarter of the exploits you did as a christian. I am simply a believer (not a new one anyway) who has personal proofs that God is real.

Babe I understand u want him back to the faith earnestly, but if the guy meet those conditions of (Hebrew 6:4-6). The Bible says it is IMPOSSIBLE to come back to the faith. We can't be holier than the bible.

The gods people make always behave like them. Zora hurton

Johnnydon22 , dont you ever wonder how come the jews and moses always saw angels with swords and never with ak47 . they always so angels riding horses and never cars. They always so god sitting upon a throne wearing a crown . this is obviously 2 much of a coincidence , the angels and god had attributes of the iron age era they were invented.

Swords . crowns . robes . which the jews already were using.

Angels using trumpets . trumpets used the same humans who invented them. Not piano but trumpets.

Iron chariots was a big deal to the isrealites and also coincidentally to god who could do nothing about them.

God sending horses to take elijah to heaven but not a ferrari or porsche.

God thinking stars were tiny objects just like the people who invented him.

Lol...grin You forgot to add same tiny stars falling to earth in Revelation or so, which is actually impossible because the size of one red dwarf star is way bigger than the earth as in multiple tiny earths should do the falling and not the other way round. tongue

The most embarrasing is that both yahweh and allah thought the moon produced its own light.

So not only do gods behave like the people who made them but gods also have the same amount of knowledge the people who made them have - urahara. grin

to be candid, atheists are seen more or less like an outcast. they are scorned, intimidated, discriminated against and condemned by the excessively religious society of nigeria.

I lost my last regular paid job early this year just a couple of weeks it became public knowledge at my work place that I'm an atheist. in fact a female colleague seriously crushing on me then was devastated upon knowing about my religion perspectives. this girl fell ill, she eventually withrew from me

I never knew there are Nigerian female atheist, cos I've always wondered how possible is it for me to come across one within the shores of this country.

I think it's best for free thinkers to keep their religion perspective secret in other not to deny themself lots of good will and opportunities except you from a very influential and well to do background

Alright, the answer to the question is to question the answer.

It's reversible reaction:
If they can be one billion gods, it can also be just one creator.

Why the special toga to whatever number butters your muffins?

I am for knowledge, not politics of religion. I rather be wrong than assume.

I don't gamble with numbers plucked from assumptions without basis outside my feelings.

Seems the guy just want to Stir dust, till now he hasn't told us the events that led to this.
This issue of the existence of God has been of great concern to mankind, with individuals taking whatever side they are comfortable with, the thread is becoming boring since we already know some people are atheist not as if the op is enlightening us.
We are more interested in his life's experience maybe we can relate with that

I can certainly see where being conflicted on the matter can lead to suffering (ie being "on the fence", struggling with your identity, the discomfort of going against social norms, & questioning the meaning of life in absense of the dogma that once provided a meaning - albeit a sh*t one). I was once there as well, and I think every person who transitions from religious to atheist goes through that phase.

But my life personally has improved a lot since I abandoned religion completely - as in got off the fence and delved into enriching my life in other ways. It has to do with perception and of course what you put in the place of what religion once gave you. The perception that life is meaningless because there is no deity, for example, can very well be replaced with the perception that life is incredibly precious simply because of the rarity and complexity of human existence.

I find myself in literal awe sometimes when I think of the trillions of tiny cells in my body, working like factories to keep me alive without any control on my part. I marvel when I learn new scientific facts about how my body & other biological systems work, & it makes me truly astounded by nature & it's possibilities. It also makes me passionate about helping others understand. Learning about the cosmos is equally, if not moreso awe-inspiring.

I'm also an avid reader of books on human psychology, including those involving the mastery of our minds through understanding our thoughts and emotions. I practice secular mindfulness meditation, a westernized, scientifically supported adaptation of Buddhist meditation, and it's given me a life-changing perspective on my mental space, and deep inner peace I never previously thought possible; certainly one I never experienced with Christianity. What I've learned has also tremendously helped me develop and nurture more fulfilling relationships. Sometimes with some of the books I read, I find myself wondering, "Imagine if books like these were passed out to the masses instead of the bible or Qu'ran? How much more peaceful, understanding, and wise the world would be."

Anyway, I don't want to bore you with the details of my life & interests lol. My point is, there are plenty of ways to restore (& exceed) the personal fulfillment that religion & god beliefs once brought, especially now that we have so much access to valuable information. Exploring those ways can be a very exciting journey when one enters the endeavor with an open mind and overcomes that initially painful & confusing transition out of belief. I sincerely believe that you, and others who are in your position, can get there.
wow! Clearly you've got a deep understanding of 'this thing of ours' lol,we are very much alike judging from all you wrote but as you said I havnt yet gone over the fence,Still lingering and searching, maybe one day I'll be free, but till then, still my heart wanders.

People have eyes but cannot see
What events are you still waiting for?
Perhaps you have a predetermined end to my story? Like maybe somebody died and I got angry with god? Or what?

More and more people are already realizing the lies of christianity. Many people are still going to church just for the fun of it, but arre already atheists, many pastors have already discovered that the bible aint the word of god so the just keep up the act for the gains in it.
People don't need special specific events to realize the lies.
If you can't read and understand my posts then I really feel sorry for you. How will you understand more complex things?

I am not an atheist, but i have reservations about religion and what it teaches. I was talking to a Christian friend about a month ago, she kept going on and on about how Christianity is the only way to heaven.

So, i asked her, from the genesis, "why are you a Christian"?
She gave a lot of indirect answers. I helped her out, i told her she is initially a Christian because her parents are. I then asked her what Christianity said about non-believers and heaven. She said, Christianity is the passport to heaven.

So, i asked her, what did you do to/for God that i didn't do?
Why am i condemned to hell fire because of something i am innocent of?

Why did God let me choose parents who are practising the "wrong" religion?

What did i do to God?

Would God watch me burn for eternity over something he helped me do(we are to believe God chooses who our parents are)?

If truly God is all loving, why didnt he lead us all on the right path?

Why do i have to be Muslim and destined for hell fire?

She only just continued preaching, so, i just told her to continue with the meal. She didnt have an answer.

This is not an attack on Christianity!!! It is an attack on religion. it only came this way because of the way it happened.

I'd be glad if anybody, be it a Muslim or Christian, shed more light on this.

It is just funny how people who are educated fail to question religion. Ignore whatever you have been taught , look at religion from a neutral perspective, you will understand a lot of things.
