NFS rivals... It has smooth gameplay but it's the most s+up!d NFS I've ever played...

Anyways... I understand you... If a gameplay is bad, you won't even play the game long enough to know if the story might be good or not... I get it... That was why my response was gameplay and strory

Why did you not like Rivals? Also far as I know it was critically acclaimed and I personally liked it 'cos it had some the flavour of Most Wanted (2005).

I have played Bioshock: Infinite to the end and yes the storyline was great but the thing is if the gameplay sucked I won't have bothered finishing it. I still haven't finished Dishonoured and Thief because some how the gameplay in those games rubbed me the wrong way. I finished Shadow Of Mordor very quickly because the gameplay is awesome not because of the story.

My point is games are only truly interesting when you can get into the flow of the gameplay no matter if there is a story or not. Gameplay is the true test of whether a game will be rated as go or not.

Can you point out one game that had solid gameplay but lacklustre story that was rated as bad?
Ah! Yes. Thief was one boring game. Both storyline and gameplay-wise. I think i actually recall slepping off once when i was playing it sef

It's the experience that counts and they both work together. No game is enjoyable with poor gaming experience. For instance, if you have a lot of stuttering or frame rates dip low, say below 20-25 FPS and jumps back up. The game play has to be fluid.

Improve your experience by turning down image quality settings, minimise background tasks. Open you taskbar and see what you have running, get your start up menu and see what launches on start up, do you need all enabled? Give your PC more resources to game when the need arises and improve your gaming experience(disclaimer: mileage may differ due to hardware variations)

Lol... Critically acclaimed by who...? You haven't discussed with a lot of gamers about rivals, have you?
I actually have talked with hundreds of thousands of gamers about it and only like 20% thought it was okay... And around 10% thought it was good...

No story just driving around racing with random racers... Buy techs and just bully any racer on the street... And they have shockwave now...? Lol... I thought only blur did... I think" rivals" was just "blur" and "burnout" ripoff...
You know what game rivals remind me of...? Asphalt on android... They give you number of tasks you complete them and you use the points to buy a car and/or upgrade... That's lame... I hated "the run" but when I played rivals" I realized "the run" isn't the worst one... I guess ghost games are just bad at it...

Best nfs were, hot pursuit 2010 and most wanted 2005... Then maybe shift 2, I haven't played reboot so I dont now about that...

Most of the complaints about NFS Rivals was centred on technical aspects not on gameplay. And as far as I have played NFS games the stories are not anywhere near gripping, they were mostly just filler, to tell you why you are racing, nothing special at all. It has always centred around the adrenaline pumping racing, cop chases and the occasionally inspiring soundtracks.

PS: Critically acclaimed by website reviews. Functional word is critic not user.

I agree nfs stories are just to tell you why you are racing... That's what I'm talking about... I wanna race with a reasonable focus... I don't want it to be like TLOU... I just wanna have "A" goal... Get...?
Rivals missions are annoyingly repetitive... Bronze a race, silver a race, side slam a racer, wreck a cop... wtf... I'd play Mario kart if I wanna do that sh!t...

And let me advice you... IGN, Metacritic, CSM, Gamespot etc... Are just group of insignificant "enthusiasts" who think it's okay to make decisions for the public, their reviews don't mean "SH!T"... Talk to gamers personally if you want honest opinions about games... Get...

It's a problem with open world games, it is easy to get lost or caught up in all the many many things to do that you begin to felt disjointed even though there is a main goal. And there was a main goal in Rivals but you don't even remember because just as we've established story is just filler.

I know website reviewers are not wholly subjective and in some cases even paid shills but I just wanted to establish that it was acclaimed by critics not users. Good thing with user reviews is you get the benefit of thousands of viewpoints even if they are biased.

My all time favourite was NFSU2 Underground...now that's a classic. I enjoyed Pro Street and Most wanted and Carbon.. then thoroughly enjoyed Hot Pursuit..that had the best on-line multiplayer imo. Skipped the Run, Shift and Rivals as I demoed and didn't find anything new...may try shift again.

NFS 2015 is a waste of time...cops are lame as funk, online play (as game online works when connected) is really poor...no body races..picture to grainy, handling...meh!...for anyone who played NFSU2 underground, NFS2015 was meant to reboot it but failed woefully. A first time to NFS2015 will think it's da bom'... disgressing...a well executed reboot is DOOM!

It's the sense of speed and the challenge from other racers be it single or multiplayer. It is a battle with super cars as your weapons.

I enjoy racing simulators (Project Cars/Assetto Corsa) and Pro Street was a close match to being one at the time. I've got a thing for braking zones, turn-in points, adjusting car balance and all that much more fun with a G29 grin

I don't mind simulators, what was galling was expecting arcade racing I guess.

There are no mobile games with anything even close to a decent story line... They are all pass-time kinda games...

Mobile games? What do u mean by that? Cause the last time I checked, the psp was a mobile game console, and it had a lot of games with a decent story line. Metal gear peace walker a solid example.

To me, it is the immersion that matters. If the game is consistent and doesn't pull me out of the experience, then I will love it. Graphics help to increase immersion and so does gameplay and storyline. I game on a powerful gaming PC, and I would still drop some graphics settings to let the game run smoothly. That's why I haven't played Assassin's creed unity. That game is beautiful and buggy. But I can play an old game like devil may cry 3 and still be entranced by the gameplay. Story is like bonus to a great immersive game.

Haha... No no no, common bruh, Hack and slash...? God of war doesn't come close to DMC... MGR maybe but not GOW... Gow isn't even a flat out hack and slash... It's more of an adventure/gore/fighting kinda game... I don't know, I just don't get the feeling that I'm using my creative ability to combine combos with a "sword" I mean in dmc I can stay for like 10 secs in the air whooping demons' asses, you can't do that in GOW... I think the new gow shows more of what the core of the game should and always has been about...

There's something I've noticed among gamers these days. Most of them focus on nothing besides graphics, they're always going after the games with the best graphics while ignoring other aspects of gaming.

Graphics are not everything in gaming, in the early days of the Arcades and the Atari graphics were horrible but games played these games and enjoyed them. While it's true that graphics enhance the gaming experience they should not be the main focus.

A good game should have excellent gameplay and a fascinating storyline. If these two criteria are met graphics may not be an issue. Minecraft for example is one of the most played games in the world but it doesn't have much in terms of graphics.

I think gamers should enjoy video games for what they are and not because of sweet looking graphics which can get boring after a while.
That is true but graphics make game more interesting and fun

Fallout 4 has the worst graphics among it's peers last year but, it became the GOTY...
I think the word you were looking for is "more appealing..." I don't think graphics increase the level of fun you get in games...

I guessed I'd touch a nerve with that statement lool, the combos in DMC are almost infinite....you've got a point about GoW though but not sure I'm feeling the new 3rd person view rather than the same what eagle-eye view. It's leaning toward Ryse:SOR.
DMC isn't an intensive game either so it's easy hit a smooth gameplay, heck I was running that game on an Intel Q6600 quad and an AMD Turks 6670 1GB.
