This happened January last year (2015), but I want to share my experience because of the lessons therein.

It is a Mazda pickup I use for my Job (I have an engineering company), so it comes in handy when moving materials to site.

Before the day of the accident, about 2 weeks before then to be precise, one of my workers took the vehicle out and had an accident with it that damaged the front axle of the vehicle.

Mechanics around the area were unable to replace it immediate so I decided to take it to lagos for repairs.

Unfortunately I had a contract in osogbo I was yet to complete.

Instead of taking my other vehicle (a Lexus which was not going to be suitable for site work), I took the pickup despite it's wobbly front tires.

Long story short, I was getting used to driving this vehicle despite it's poor state.

So on this day I was driving at 120km/h and the vehicle didn't feel wobbly. So I kept the high speed. All of a sudden there was this large pothole ahead. I could not brake sharply so I tried to maneuver to the shallow portion of the pothole.

Next thing I knew, the vehicle was spinning out of control.
Next the vehicle somersaulted!

Now you would wonder why I am posting this in the religion section

People say we atheists would run back to God at the point of death.
Blatant delusion. I am absolutely not afraid of death. INFACT, I am prepared to die young. Don't care about living old.

I came out of the wreckage with the vehicle upside down and people were praising God. I was smiling to myself. They kept saying it was God that saved me blah blah blah.

Note: this was my second major accident as an atheist and in both, I never thought about God, heaven or hell.

I travel a lot and I see people praying everywhere living in fear of death. Even on airplanes, you see people praying. Shouting Jesus every time the plane Vibrates (turbulence or air pockets).

It makes me wonder what freedom religion especially christianity and islam has given people.

You travel by road it is even worse. I was once in a bus where 3 different people asked us to close our eyes for prayers as if the first prayer was not enough.

You see people coming to give testimony in church as if people who die are not religious too. Even people going on evangelism die in accidents.

So who is really free? The Atheist or Theist? After all, it is said that you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free

The devil is really tormenting and terrorising Christians.

I wonder Why the blood of Jesus no de finish...

Same Christians claim the blood of Jesus protects them yet they sprinkle it endlessly like it is not really working. I am confident that almost every car that had accident in Nigeria must have received its own share of prayer and blood sprinkling before the trip, yet accidents happen everyday on our roads.

I think Christians know there prayers don't work.... if not, why pray endlessly like God is deaf.

They pray when they wake up in the morning and cover the whole day with the blood of Jesus
Yet they pray at every meal (recall the day have already been covered)
They pray before the journey
They still shout Jesus when ever the car shakes
Endless meaningless mumbling called prayer, yet no assurance. God needs to b reminded at every minute of his promise..
These guys no de tire? They are the ones with the most fear about everything, yet a single bomb by boko haram will destroy them all in their own house of God.

Lol... this joke is getting beyond control.

If you wear a red shade, all things would always appear red.Religious people always attribute a narrow death escape as a miracle and God's undeserved mercy. You had an accident because:
1.You chose to ignore the continuous warning signs promulgated by your vehicle. Here action gave birth to reaction.
2. Bad road network. And critical deficiency of proper transportational system like road signs, traffic signals, double way routes etc. Here Cause and effect were on show.
3.Carelessness,eg drinking moments before taking to the wheels, lack of focus, external distractions, wrong judgment, or unforseen occurrences, for instance oncoming driver's recklessness.

The reason you are still alive is as a result minimal damage to your body thats all,and some folks are always in a jiffy to attribute your NDE survival to God.Why didn't God saved you from crash by averting the extenuating circumstances preceding the accident like touching the government to always provide and maintain a standard road network.

If He's capable of bringing you out alive from that wreck, wouldn't it have been reasonable for Him to have prevented it from happening in the first place and, afterwards, tell you that ' Hey there! , you don't believe in me but I just saved your a33'.
He's busy saving you at the same time that his lovely, dutiful, obedient and chosen children are being abused/blown in pieces somewhere else. I know they'll come out of the woodworks and try to rationalize that and even tell us that our ways are different from His. I can't think of anything as disgusting and dehumanizing as that.

One of my many unanswered questions on my journey to atheism was the need to pray every now and then if God is truly all-knowing.

I remember back then I used to pray for the entire year, covered everyday with the blood of Jesus from January to December. I refused to pray after then till the end of the year.

My pastors would walk up to me, "hey, why are you not joining us prayer"?
And i'll say, "sir, I've prayed against every evil for the rest of the year, i'm thinking of blessing my whole life so I wouldn't need to pray anymore". You can only imagine the shock in pastor's face. smiley

I later thought to myself, if God is all-knowing, good and merciful, there is really no need to pray. He should just provide for me, protect me.

It wasn't long before I started seeing the absurdity in praying everywhere I go.
The foolishness in believing some higher power has special love for me, even though millions of innocent children have died of starvation, diseases, and sicknesses.

Damn! I was so stupid.

Christian will pray their balls out. Repeating the same thing over and over again as if the said God is deaf or sleeping. Some attend deliverance services weekly for years.

I still maintain that the day anyone begin to think he/she becomes less religious.

Oga HardMirror, you need to fortify yourself. Things don't happen for nothing.

Follow the logic and see where it leads you: 2 accidents since becoming an atheist means that god is very angry with you and has just given you two warnings to turn back to him.

Now that would would be a mistake. The best thing to do is to seek the wisdom of Satan.
With Satan's wisdom, you'll know when to repair your vehicles.
With Satan's wisdom, you will not be foolish not be driving at high speed on bad roads with an unroadworthy car.

I will reply u well, op.
Go ahead and thankgod u were saved from death. God is so merciful that if u know him u will say that thanking him over and over is not enough. As a Christian and as a pastor I have seen much and have known much. Nothing on earth can alter my conviction about GOD. See please do understand that the spiritual realm works parallel to the physical realm. While the physical is control by man, the spiritual is control by GOD and demons. The activities in the spirit realm are as real as the physical. Today I see the devil using atheist to lure people to hell by making them think GOD is not in existence and God is not what he say he is. If u look at life u will understand the mystery of life. Why do we have to come into this world through birth and why do we have to live this world through death. Birth was d plan of god for every life to come into the world to fulfil a purpose, death was not d mode of exist for man, sin came into the world and alters the plan of GOD for mankind. Jesus came to restore and to redeem us to god that after this life we will stay in the new Jerusalem and the new earth and heaven. If you want to conclusively conclude that GOD has not played a major role in keeping u till date, wait till when you close ur eyes in death and open it in eternity reality will dawn on u that eternity only has 2 choice heaven and hell and u don't make that choice there u make it here. My friend please I beg u by God's mercy do not live a life of deception from the devil. Do not be swallowd in this lies of the devil.
In 2014 April 14 I will never forget this for the rest of my life Nyanya bomb blast I was in that park by 6.30 am, prior to that GOD had already woke me up to pray fervently so I did, while I finished praying I was silent and god asked me to read psalms 91, I did, he asked me to cover myself with the blood I did, he spoke to me expressly that today he will show me his mercy I did not understand till I escaped death violent death by bomb blast. I got to park that morning saw many buses, but a man came and stopped me from entering one of d buses that was blasted by d bomb, asked me to enter anoda, after which d driver drove out like someone was chasing him. Few minutes into our journey while we left the park like 3minutes we heard a blast and it shook our bus on the road just to turn back we saw smoke from the same park we left. I saw some of this people that were killed we laughed and smile not knowing it was d last time for them. I love him GOD and I have seen him in divers manners in deliverance, in provision, in protection. ur opinion about him does not change him. Please retrace ur step back to GOD. Bless you.

Anyway, I was also a Christian back those days but I am not the type that shouts JESUS! anytime accident was about to happen. Instead I just remain calm. However, I discovered later that you can actually be saved from accident without shouting any name or by Shouting YEEPA! or Oro O!!!
I just discovered that all names work together for good. When I was on a bike one day and the bike was about to crash, I shouted Argh! and the Argh! saved me from having accident. Then I sat down to compile the names of Jesus Christ(Zeusus Krish) which has been saving us from accidents all the while. Here are the longlist(all tested and trusted) :

1. Oro o!
2. Ori iya mi o!
3. Mo gbe o!
4. Paga!
5. Laakuli!
6. Argh!
7. Jeeesus
8. Jeeeesu
9. Sometimes by mistake(Esu!)
10. Lastly Zeus's Krish!

To my amazement all of them saved me from accident. Now on a more serious note, before I was called into the ministry of DOMINO REVERAD the father of Jehovah, who wants all humanity to use their brains, I used to have dreams many times in which I used the name of Jesus to conquer whatever I saw in it, but since the day I accepted Eartum into my life, all my dream has changed and I don't use Jesus name again to conquer anything. In fact, the last dream I had in which I was still trying to use Jesus name, I ended up saying No! I will rather use my name. Shockingly the monster in my dream still fled at the mention of the name of my name. Then since then I have understood that it's our thoughts that has been generating dreams for us. Our brain has a way of giving us what we believe in as the truth.

Lastly I'll leave all Christians with this message from Knoliud the Knowledge of Reverad the father of Jehovah.

Decorum 21: 1-31

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

1. Now after about a year did Knoliud visit the lands which were around Niger. And he said, O you dwellers of these land, blessed are you. For in you shall rise an Otem, who shall defeat the lies of Faulkin.
2. Rejoice, O meanders of Niger. Rejoice! For the Lord has chosen this place to make the truth known to the world. For Otem shall be born to defeat the greatest lies that has ever congealed. He shall be born in the land where Niger shall meet with Chadda.
3. Niger, most blessed of all rivers. And all the lands you flow through, they shall benefit greatly from your profit. Eartum, the god of truth has brought upon you a son. Celebrate for your sorrows shall come to an end.
4. When the beliefs of Nymphidis and Largas shall come into your midst to divide you, then shall Otem rise. And the beliefs shall be made low for the truth to stand. The truth shall trample them under like a mortar crushes the yams.
5. Now arise, prepare to publish the truth of the universe to all the world. For Otem has risen and all the prophets of Yeshua shall bow. They shall hear and they shall be cold in their hearts, for the time to scatter their powers has come. And they shall try their hypnotic power on the people again, but it shall not work, because all their sheep are fully at alert.
6. Now shall the people of the lands around Niger say, it is time to see if the priests of Nymphidis are true indeed. It is time to test the name of Faulkin to see if it is real or not. And they shall see the visions of Faulkin but they shall believe it no more.
7. Then shall they say, we have seen enough visions for more than a century, now it is time to see the manifestations. Then shall they gather the real lame people in the streets and the real blind people on the road and the amputees and the epileptics.
8. And they shall say, let us go to the sanctuary of Krish and to the synagogue of Jehoshua. Let us also visit the campground of Enorach and of Wilhelm. Let us forget not to visit the tabernacle of Daoud and the place of Suleman the homo who prophesies doom. Let us go to the gathering of Lazarus and the place of the black Daniel which is false.
9. And the people shall say, if these sick we bring to their sanctuaries are not cured of their diseases and healed of their lameness and blindness, then shall we depart from the camps of these prophets of Yahweh forever. And we shall hate them with everlasting hatred if they did not confess to us, saying, the people we put on the chairs as the lame in our displays are only paid to act according to our directives; And the people who declared that they had healing had only been paid to do so. And the people who fell down, rolling on the floor with loud voices had been hypnotised by us.
10. And the shame of the people who called themselves holy and are not shall be so grave. And all the lies of Eusebius, the father of liars shall be exposed and made known in all lands.
11. For truly I tell you, Eusebius is he who shall compile all the lies of Faulkin and shall bind it with a spell, saying, whoever shall rise to put my religion to shame, let him be suppressed. Shall he not confront the Otems with his swords to make them almost believe his threats?
12. But I say, no, it shall not take long before the Otems shall know who he really was. Eusebius, the friend of a murderer and a murderer himself also.
13. And the words given to Otem shall overcome the falsehood of both Jehoshua and Eusebius. And the falsehood of Murhamid shall bow also, because the prophecy of Daniel shall gain ground. For Daniel had said, the dominion of Domino shall be an everlasting dominion.
14. And the name of Reverad shall be reverenced forever. And the counting of times shall remain to be Anno Domini, which is the name of our God who reigns in his Anystenx and no one knew it.
15. Now when they of the lands around Niger heard this, they said, when shall these things happen? And he said, you shall have sold your gods out before this shall be done.
16. Give ears, o people of Niger. Give ears O children of the blessed land flowing with liquid power, when you have known the truth, burn off the books of Nymphidis in your possessions, for they are the cause of all your hypnotisms and poverty and limitations.
17. Are they not also the causes of your nightmares, which things you see and run into their sanctuaries for prayers. And you thought you have been delivered?
18. Again, I say to Niger and the offsprings of it, arise and set up a legacy for yourself. For after Egypt shall be your land among the wise countries of the lands of Murmoh. Then when they shall meditate, doing a strong meditation, they shall get answers to many of their problems in a few years, which they did not get from the first day of the birth of their parents till the days Otem began to establish the kingdom of Reverad.
19. Let him who has brain in his skull ponder upon this. It is the truth that sets free, not the lies of Faulkin which puts one in bondage.
20. Let the people of this land dig for treasures beneath their land. For the treasures beneath shall sustain the homos above. Truly, river Niger is the possession of Eartum and he shall bless it with great blessings. And many shall come from the east and from the west and from the north and from the south of all nations, saying, where is the beginning of this river? And where does it end.
21. And they shall learn from the writings of Mungus, who shall be the first of all homos to find the beginning and the end of it. Then shall they come and say, we have heard of this river and we have come to see it.
22. And they shall take of the waters of the river called Niger to take to their lands. And the spirit of Eartum shall be with them to help them whenever they had done much meditations. And it shall be that anyone who takes up the waters of Niger shall be blessed with a better brain.
23. Is the pool of Siloam in the land of Nymphidis not also a great pool for the cure of the people? Yes, it was the pool of the sons of God which they made the day they all agreed to be united.
24. And I declare upon Niger also that which I had declared unto the pool of Siloam, saying, let there be peace in you. And you shall flow forever like I had also declared upon the Nile in Egypt, saying, O Nile, blessed of Knoliud, no urim shall work upon you to dry you up. And you shall flow forever until Reverad shall make changes to nature as he wished.
25. Now O waters of Niger, let your ripples be a blessing to all who made their abode about you; to the east and the west and the south and the north.
26. Now in the world to come, when the oils in this land shall lose its value, and the people shall be thrown into great depth, then shall Niger arise to help them. And in your lands shall many come to see its waves and its ripples and shall make an everlasting study of it.
27. I, Knoliud, the knowledge of Reverad had spoken all these and no homo shall reverse it.
28. Now Aluna, the daughter of god which dwelt on the mountain called Gondwana said, my Lord, when shall all these things come to being? And Knoliud said, it shall be long, because they which shall be the oils for this land are yet living.
29. If there is no falling away and decay, there can never be oils. But I say, even a great land shall be formed, which shall be called Gondwana. And the name of your mountain shall they borrow to name the land.
30. And I tell you, O Aluna, even you shall have left this planet for the moon before it shall be fulfilled. And you shall control the moon until Sol shall be angry at you. Then shall you be gone to be with the moons of the gasland.
31. Then Aluna said, nothing shall make me forsake my people forever. And Knoliud laughed saying, when your people shall forsake you to worship Nymphidis and Largas, you shall also forsake them. This is the knowledge of Knoliud.

Lol... this joke is getting beyond control.

At the bolded, it seems like you read the DOCTRINE OF THE UFOS because Knoliud the Knowledge of Jehovah's father has said this millions of years back:

Deorum 20: 23-29

23. Now I tell you this; in the world to come, a young homo who searched for the truth thought to find out if the name of Jehoshua was anything more potent than any other name. And he called on the name of Jehoshua at any little opportunity-when the chariot of iron shook, when he almost stumbled, when he was ill, when he needed a vision. This he did for the space of a month, recording all results.
24. Then he took up his own name for another month and did the same with it. Now what did he observe? Was the name of Jehoshua more superior in bringing result? I tell you, No. For indeed the name of the homo seemed to have done a better work than even that of Jehoshua who asked that all homo should pray in his own name alone.
25. But I tell you, whatever the result of such, they are all coincidence.
26. Pray in no name at all, but rather do meditations and seek answers to all questions in your brain? I tell you the truth, the future and the past are in your brains. And some shall write about the past, adding much lies to it as commanded by the one who sent them.
27. Also, some shall write about the past and call it the future things to happen, because they knew that things happen in cycles.
28. Now certainly I say this; even all the things which Jasheb saw and which had been fulfilled shall be pronounced again to be the events of the future, both in this world and in the world to come.
29. But I tell you, this is the work of the spirit of fear. For he shall pronounce none of the good things that had already happened, but only the fearful things which had happened, of which Nymphidis and Largas destroyed almost the whole earth.

please am writing this to the young minds and teenagers who visit religion section. do not for any sake or wat ever u read here doubt the existance or believe in God... ask your self this questions if truely God does not exist why are atheist so eager to prove it at all cost? why wouldnt they leave the christains to wallow in their ignorance untill they realise that they were chasing after the winds. if you live ur life serving God and later died and realise that there was nting like God, hell or heaven have u lost in anyway? what then will happend when u are fully convinced that he does nt exist and after death u realised that he truly exist? i plead with u the young ones to stick with ur believe in God. atheist themselve ve nt make the world better with their use of logic and common sense.if they ve why are there still sufferings, pains sickness despite their breakthrough in science. even if it is nt god that created this world u will agree with me that this world did nt jst come on its own?

[/b]

That is the irony of theism. Religious people are afraid to die but at the same time want to go to heaven. Atheists and irreligious people have overcome the fear of death. I remember when i had an accident about 15 years ago and i was unconscious, my greatest fear was fear of serious injury and physical pains, not the fear of death itself.

I think atheism free's oneself from all the fears indoctinated in us from birth.

Who is really free...

Food for thought I guess.

Personally I would say freedom comes to those who choose to have it. Though the statement seem to beg the question but again it depends on the kind of freedom we are talking about.

From your post, I'd presume you refer to a freedom that cannot be influenced by a third party. A freedom that every man, woman or child is born with...a freedom to choose whom or what to be afraid of.

That kind of freedom has very little or nothing to do with whom one choose to worship or not worship. The freedom is not a sacred preserve of any one group. It is a freedom that the individual must decide to have or not have.

The fact that some Christians or Religious individuals decide to live every passing day in fear, does not necessarily mean that every Christian lives that way. I'd say if one calls himself a Christian but lives in fear then that individual is not a good Christian.

In same way, an Atheist or irreligious individual who lives in fear, cannot be said to be that good an Atheist or irreligious.

So if you see someone who you think lives his or her life in fear just because he or she calls on the name of Jesus at every turn, don't think that Religion or Christianity made the individual that way. The individual chose to act that way and should be responsible for the act.

Makes me wonder though how you know for sure that some religious exclamations are consciously done out of fear. Anyways...another food for thought I guess.

Hardmirror, do you know that if you had died in that accident that day, some of those people urging you to thank God will be giving testimonies in church the next Sunday?

They would say something like, "just this week I witnessed a fatal accident. I just want to thank God for his protection over my life..."

Now what caused that accident?
What is satan or you were trying to be a dare devil. As an atheist tell that story to a christain and you will start to hear how God loves you and want you to repent of your sinfull ways even though you did nothing wrong except believe in him or into the fire you go

Trying to hold religion to a principle is like trying to catch an eel with bare hands. There is always a slip through.

They say God heals, bring a deformed person, next they'll tell u God is not a magician.

They say God is Love and his love is more than that of a mother to a child. Yet same God allows children starve to death while it is claimed he is the one blessing a pastor with more G-wagons, range rovers, Mercedes SLS and the likes. They will tell you God knows best.

At the end it is just like trying to fetch water with a basket.

People die in accidents, even some FUTA students going for a church program perished about a week ago. Which should we believe? Does God protect His own or not?

Do magicians heal? God has always been the one in the business of healing people. But he has his principles . Faith is essential both on the side of the minister and recipient . There is God part , there's ministers part and there's God part of the responsibility . God shows you how to deal with a case if you ask him. I have ministered to some people without result and when I ask God he revealed what to do. A lady was brought to me who got paralyzed . I prayed and prayed ,I rebuked the devil ,I commanded her to walk ,brought her out of the car ,propped her on her feet to walk . It was rather excruciating pain. We carried her to my Offuce and . God laid in my heart about arrow of darkness. And I commanded the wicked arrow to come out of the leg. She suddenly got up and walked and ran. I might have missed solution to some cases without being patient enough but the truth is . There's solution . The problem is not God.

Everyone have his responsibility. It's not God you hold responsible.

I still haven't seen a sound response from a grounded Christian here or in the other thread you made. Still waiting...

But Zeus is not jealous and vindictive so he'll probably just let it slide. But Yahweh?

Pascal's wager requires a downside to not believing. No other religion provides this downside like abrahamic religions. So Pascal's wager still holds.
