Ogah arrived in Umuahia, the state capital, yesterday through the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport in Owerri, the Imo State capital. He went into a meeting with Directorate of State Service (DSS) top officials at their office in the Abia State capital. At about 7.55pm, Ogah and his entourage drove out of the DSS office in a long convoy. It was not clear where they were headed as he declined to speak to reporters. The police stepped up security around the Abia Government House in Umuahia, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the news, which filtered into the state around noon, caused anxiety among residents of Umuahia. At the city centre, popularly called Isi-gate, some traders, tricycle riders and passersby expressed happiness over the development. However, the situation was different at the Government House, where political office holders were seen moving hurriedly out of their offices. Workers simply watched. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who was on his way to deliver an inaugural lecture at the Abia State University, Uturu when the news filtered in, cancelled the event and made a quick return to Aba. Ikpeazu had operated from the Government House Liaison Office in Aba since he assumed office on May 29, 2015. You will never know the value of anything until you lose it. Jonathan was incompetent as a President, but he gave democracy a chance to thrive in Nigeria. We are now back to barracks democracy. Military men in agbada who have abrogated the constitution in their minds. We are back to the Obasnjo days of impunity. Since ancient times, betrayal has always been there. A classic example is judas who betrayed Jesus. I am indifferent to this case because it is politics and under the game, the smartest wins. There is already an appeal and stay of execution in this matter. Even a year one Law student knows that the stay of execution stops the people from taking further action till the court rules otherwise. Why is nobody surprised at the speed which this whole thing is moving? This is Nigeria. Nothing works like this unless some people are pulling the strings somewhere. Grapevine has info that Okezie is being removed because he is not doing enough to stamp out the Biafra movement in the state. Aba & Onitsha is almost the headquarters for IPOB. The FG has bastardized INEC. Many states don't have RECs. Their legal dept has become a shadow of itself. In Rivers state, they sabotaged their own case.
