Boeing777pilot:

They are both awesome aircraft manufacturers but Boeing is the best.

It's the 737 that's the most successful commercial aircraft ever.

As for aircraft pilots decide to fly, its dependent on a variety of factors some within their control others are not.

They've also made some iconic helicopters as well, like the Chinook and the Apache!!!

Boeing 737 has a pod shaped engine which isn't properly round, its almost flat at one side of each engine, the rear landing gears have 2 tyres per side 4 total at the rear and a total of 6 landing gears.
The landing gears at the rear do not disappear fully into the underbelly of the aircraft but remains as a black circular colour under the aircraft.

The Boeing 747 has the legendary 'hump' towards its forward end of the fuselage which qualifies it as a double decker aircraft.
Its got 16 main landing gears for the rear, 4 tyres per landing gear and two landing gear placed at offset to each sides led and right. In total its got 18 tyres.
Plus it's got 4 engines. : wink

The Boeing 777 has a perfectly circular fuselage when cut into two Ron top to bottom and viewed thru, its got the biggest engine diameter ( two engines in total) of any modern boeing (that i know of) and its got 6 tyres per main landing gear and 12 tyres at the rear/main landing gears and a total of 14 tyres for all landing gears.

Compare the engine size with the man leaning on it smiley

what is the maximum amount of hours a commercial plane can stay up in the sky in terms of safety

More questions to come, I wan be like one guy wey dey always ask different kind of questions on ds thread

The 777 can stay in the air for 12hrs 30mins without refueling. And the 747-8 can stay in the air for 15 hours non-stop.

Or the difference between Toyota Camry from Toyota Corola wink

B737 is the Corola in that group, rugged and reliable grin

I'm so in need of a flight simulator which I can use single engine like Cessna or sling 2 in. Three days ago I started circuits and it wasn't so good. I just came home and tried to remember the checks, if I had a simulator I would've practiced. I flew this morning it was very good actually but I need more practice (landing is still poor)
try FSX

How do pilots while away their time on board a very long flight because i guess you can fly a plane for 10 hours + without getting tired or bored.

Good afternoon everyone. Looking for an aviation school to learn to become a Pilot ,Aeronautical engineer? Check out KEILIR AVIATION ACADEMY , located in ICELAND. I'm a Nigerian and I'll be travelling this August to study. It's really an amazing school. Course duration (2years)

Hi bro, how much is the estimated cost of the training? also, cost of living, accommodation, visas, etc. Thanks

LR - Long Range
ER - Extended Range

LR has longer range, that's why I'm going to miss it.

It means shorter flights for me now.

The B777-200LR actually holds the world record for longest non stop flight. It can stay up to 19hours airborne.

B777-300ER around 12 hours cry
Le boss,
I believe the 777-300ER can do more than 12 hours. Last year, I was on a flight from Orlando to Dubai on Emirates 777-300ER and the flight lasted for 15 hours and 40 minutes. double check though

I nailed my landing yesterday it felt good... I went ahead to land without flaps..

Without flap? What aircraft is that?

I know you can land with just flap 1 or 2 in a C172 or C152 but not without one bro

Did your instructor advice you to do that? Is it allowed? smiley

yes sir, even in 2014 i flew dubai to new-york on the airbus a380-800, it was approximately 16 hours long.

to see even longer flights, click the link below;

@boeing777pilot, why is it that abuja - dubai is 6 hours long, but dubai - abuja is 7 hours?
secondly, is the earth's rotation factored into flight plans?

Lol. For you as a pilot, the ans is in d question
because i guess you can fly a plane for 10 hours + without getting tired or bored., bt we enthusiasts can't comprehend.
I have been curious about this for long and will love to know. I have not flown on a "bird" before so please try to help out with how you answer the question.
Also, I want to believe that the cockpit can be secured from inside to prevent terrorism / hijacking...how do you confirmed the identity of the airhostess before opening up? Are there cameras in the cockpit to see who is knocking from outside cockpit? Are pilots allow to eat and chat when the airplane is cruising safely at a steady altitude during the 10hr trip?
Most of the questions are for fixed wings

Yes that's correct but for operational reasons it's usually restricted to under 12 hours or thereabouts, the 300-ER was probably used to service that route since the 200-lr was available.

I believe it is due to the rotation of the Earth from west to east. Planes flying in that direction experience less headwinds because they are "flying with" the Earth.
The planes flying in an east - west direction experience greater headwinds, that's why the east - west routes are usually longer than the west - east route.

About the boredom, we have to keep on monitoring our instruments as well as sending reports at intervals, we are only allowed to read aviation related stuff in the cockpit. Well, for long flights the crew handles it in turns so depending on the Duration, a pilot may not stay for more than eight hours at the controls.

Yes we are allowed to eat in the cockpit and unless your captain is a sadist, you guys would Have to talk.

I'm not at liberty to discuss how we verify the identity of the person knocking before we open the cockpit grin and yes it is secured.
