Mini-SS is neato too... just doesnt seem that the roll out is happening. I know that we are replacing the MAG's with SS-77's as they wear out... but I have yet to see any one with Mini-SS's in the regular battalions.

So we had/have that capability to track day/night and in any weather condition. Again you don't fire PGMs at a column of Boko-Haram convoy, what is required is a salvo of rockets or an aircraft's 30mm gun.


You probably have been sleeping all through out your time here in Nairaland.com (2012 - Present), because if you weren't you'll know that we've had the capabilities to track targets both day and night even before the Chibok girls.

We use to see videos of large Boko-Haram convoys moving in the open which could've been torn apart by two J-17's armed with targeting pods and Precision Munitions.

After the Chibok kidnappings the Airforce could've dispatched air craft with night vision capabilities to track the girls and made it easier to find them.

The CH-3As are based at the Tactical Air Command in Markurdi (Central Nigeria), from where they conduct ISTAR operations all over the North-East hundreds of Kilometers away.


The CH-3A, Gulma and Yahbon Flash 20 are all BVLOS operated.


Where does the Reaper land and take off from...... The sea?


The Nigerian Air Force has released over 30 combat videos from operations in the N.E, have you even watched any at all?

If you have very poor training and doctrine the weapons you have become useless. But I would expect Nigeria to do better than the Turks.

Plus posting random urban pictures out of context doesn't mean anything, because we've all seen that least 80% of the engagements with Boko-haram happened in open and rural areas where it would've been much easier to deliver precision munitions.

The Turks are not poorly trained, they have a rich modern military history, I believe you've heard of the battle of "Gilapoli".


let me try to rephrase Turkey has 240 F-16 Block 52+ fighter jets in service. They have the PGMs, I'm asking you why does Southern-Turkey despite all the PGMs look like Aleppo. You claimed PGMs are the "all and be all"?

The P in PGM means Precision, you use PGM in urban areas so you can reduce civilian casualties and increase the probability of hitting the enemy, you don't use PGMs in wide open spaces when you can simply obliterate the enemy to submission with an array of cost effective rockets and unguided bombs.

Its a remarkable SAW, almost no recoil.

One would think they would sell like condoms in a brothrel. But for some reason they are pretty rare, maybe Singapors limited manufacturing capacity has something to do with it.

Suffice as to say, if the SANDF were to drop the R4 +50 round mag in favor of it, I would be thrilled.

The problem is the 100 round drum. Causes stoppages. That's why the Singapore army runs it with mags. The original R-4 50 round mag was meant for the planned heavy barrel R-4 that was never adopted. We didn't have that many problems with the 50 rounders as long as you download them to 40-45. They might just be getting old now. Mags don't last forever. The 35 round mag also had to be downloaded to 30 for it to function properly.

Personally, i don't like the 5.56 saw concept and you can see the countries involved in Afghanistan/Iraq now having buyer's regret. If your squad can't handle the weight, you have a fitness problem not a caliber one. Mujahideen hump 7.62 PKM over mountain ranges all day long on a loaf of flatbread.
