Dear VO
After my interview in May. my case was put on AP and there was no any status update since. on Friday last week i saw a status update. Does the update have any meaningful message. please help me to understand the change in dates on my case.

You really need to provide more information if I am going to be able to help you... The status was updated to what?
If you have questions about a specific case, you need to contact the Consulate via the email you were provided.

Hello VO,

If one has a pending immigrant visa, waiting for priority date to be current to get interview date and then before they get interview date, they apply for a b1/b2 visitors visa and are denied for instance, will it slow down or affect the pending immigrant petition/visa?
Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by jxlan: 7:53pm On Aug 16, 2016
Thank you fro the reply. I attended the interview in May on the 6th. but after the dates remained the same for the past 100 days until on 12.08.2016 the dates only changed but the AP remained. so do the dates imply anything. when i wrote to the embassy they continue saying am still undergoing AP. so do dates have any meaningful translation.

Hello VO,
is traditional marriage recognised by US immigration law for F2A petition? Or must one go through registry/court wedding. Thanks

No, this doesn't affect the immigrant visa in any way (unless you became ineligible under misrepresentation).

Administrative processing doesn't end on a fixed date - it ends when we have the necessary information. Often, it goes quicker. Sometimes it goes longer.

Traditional marriage is recognized - you may have to provide USCIS with documentation, which you can obtain through a Customary Court.

Everyone will need to have a form filled out - in this case, since it is your biological child, you may also consider an IR2 petition as it will help the child get their citizenship immediately...

Thanks so much. What is IR2 and when can i fill it out, right now or when they get to US. Can you please shed more light on it and possibly a link to look it up. Also does it mean my child will not get her citizenship coming to US with K2 visa?, Am a bit confused here please help me out.

Good afternoon sir... I want to thank you specially for your contributions to this forum. It was very instrumental. Glory be to God,on Thursday 18,August, my cr1 visa was approved. I simply answered all asked questions truthfully as you had adviced on this forum. On Friday,19,August, the CEAC status shows "ISSUED - visa has been printed".
Dear Vo,I'd like to know if the passport with visa will be ready for pickup this week or is it MANDATORY that it's going to be picked up in 10 business days.? Thanks

Let me start by thanking the VO for taking time to respond to all inquiries despite his/her busy schedules.Having said that, pls I need your candid advice as I'm at a cross road now. What is the success rate for immigrant application under F4 category. Let me introduce myself a little.I am a public servant here in Nigeria in my late 30s and my twin sister is a U.S Citizen (formerly a LR) and she intends filing for me and my kids under F4 immigrants application. My fear is the long time it takes to get immigrant visa under this category (which means I won't be able to apply to go to US throughout the waiting period as my request would be turned down based on my pending application). I was denied a US Visa last year and I'm thinking of reapplying for a b1/b2 visa soon (If I get a b1/b2, I will only go for visiting anyway). Would you advise I continue applying for the B1/B2 untill I get a visa or my twin should start the process of petitioning under F4 category and go through the option of the long wait (I heard the waiting period could be more than 10 yrs).Going through the F4 immigrants petition could be worth it if the sucess rate is high because I won't mind relocating in the long run with my family if the opportunity presents itself. My question is ''is the long waiting period worth it at the end of the day i.e is it a surer way of getting a US Visa or I should keep trying the B1/B2 Category?
Pleas help a confused sister.
Thanks

The link has been shared several times on this post - I recommend you read through it in its entirety to learn more about the immigration process.

No, you can pick it up later if you have to, 10 business days is just what we advise in the average time it will take us to process, print, and deliver the passport with visa to the DHL location.

The "success rate" for any immigrant visa, provided there is no fraud, is 100%.
If you want to immigrate to the US, then this is the route to take, B1/B2 visas are simply tourist visas for short stays.

Hello and good morning.
My question goes like this; My girl just finished her masters program in the US and has obtained her temporary work permit. We're planning to get married now but I want to know if it's possible to join her after the wedding considering that she's just on a temporary visa, and how long the process would take. Thank you

There are certain visa classes that allow spouses to travel - you need to look into the specific visa class that she has.

Good day,

I got a mail for my representative to send my accademic records, residential addresses since age 16, some documents from my father who is an American citizen plus my birth certificate and those of my children.

Does this mean I would be scheduled for interview soon?

This sounds like the documents are being requested by USCIS - this is a separate agency which handles cases before they are ready. When an interview is near, you will be contacted by the U.S. Consulate in Lagos.

Hi VO,

Does the issuance and use of an IV invalidate an unexpired NIV?

Or to be more specific, can a new LPR make a quick trip outside the US and return before the physical GC arrives?
