We are a non-pacifist nation. We don't pick sides, we have no allies. We maintain cordial diplomatic relations with virtually all countries on earth. So, that they will never come.

you really believe that??..the more stronger nigeria gets(this is what most nigerians want, including you),the more enemies we will have....its human-nature..

envy, loose pride, anger, frustration, disappointment will play their part........nobody thought china will ever leave their boundaries..

but their they are driving america out of the china-seas....

I loved the part where the COAS said "they should clear their doubts". Army amphibious guys are heavily armed.

Those Chinese bulletproof would soon make a come back.

This exercise is imperative, criminal elements have to be flushed out of those creeks before things get out of hands.

Did you see the part were 2 average guys in boxers shorts were siphoning product out of vandalized pipe one bucket load at a time ?
It's such a dangerous task, one mistake that leads to a spark and they are all toast.

Companies like BAE land systems SA(Now Denel vehicle systems) and other SA companies sold many vehicles to the coalition forces in Iraqi and Afghanistan.

I'm not really certain about the West African requirement. Only a handful vehicles have been acquired so far. With Nigeria to be specific I think it is a doctrine issue.

I don't deny that. However as the war progressed the Americans started being supplied by Maxxpro, Caiman and Navistar. The British maintained supply from BAE, while the Australians, Dutch, Germans got supplies from Bushmaster/Dingo.

What i'm trying to say is, despite the diversity of supplies, companies like BAE Land Systems and DCD still remained profitable. The "gold-rush" for MRAPs is still there, however many countries are now getting local supplies or supplies from close by.

An MRAP is an APC. Countries in the entire region face a significant Islamist threat, and they are willing to purchase, but at a cost of $500,000 a unit, you won't see a lot of buyers. Hence i specifically mentioned costs need to be lower and in line with the African armoured vehicle requirements.

Yeah i did. Although that's an old footage. For the Navy and Army amphibious units to be successful, the Joint Task Force which i'm sure's mandate would soon be expanded would need to have at-least 1000 Inshore Patrol Crafts.

Of what benefit is it having these MRAPS & scorpions down south?
These are probably more useful in fighting up north or the middle belt undecided

SCORPION TANKS;
Scorpion light tanks are the only large gun carrier you can deploy in the Niger Delta . They are aluminium turret and Hull. They have 70mm gun and you can put ten of them on a barge and ship them anywhere. You cannot send them to the north, IEDs will tear them to pieces.

Let us understand our country properly before commenting. Three-quarters of the Niger Delta is now accessible by road. You can drive to Nembe and most large communities in Delta State. The NA & NN have probably 400 gunboats already. There is need for large caliber guns and artillery the kind that was used to level Camp 5 during Yaradua 's administration.

There is a valid point you are making for A29s and choppers however there are required complimentary components on the ground that must be large caliber guns with long range and other things like that .

Let us leave military logistics for the professionals. The training is now M.Sc course in war colleges and the processes and protocols of decomposing a strategy to its logistic requirements are well developed.

The Battle At Mammy Yoko Hotel, Freetown On 26th May 1997The Battle At Mammy Yoko Hotel, Freetown On 26th May 1997

Nigeria has played a dominant role in ensuring the stability of the West African sub-region and its troops have shown exceptional valour in taming some of the most savage conflicts including the Sierra Leone Civil War. An outstanding show of bravery and iron-like tenacity took place at the luxurious Mammy Yoko Hotel in the Sierra Leone capital of Freetown.
Six years after the brutal start of the war in 1991 between the government and bloodthirsty rebel army, the Revolutionary United Front (RUF), a military coup by Sierra Leone Army (SLA) officers overthrew then President Tejan Kabbah and brought Major Johnny Koroma to power. Astonishingly this new regime invited the RUF to help it capture Freetown from forces loyal to Kabbah. The RUF had since the beginning of the war engaged in mutilation, mass rape, looting and unspeakable evil that elevated the horror of war to a new level. The RUF accepted the invitation and helped the regime, known as the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) capture Freetown. With this done, a wave of death, mutilation, torture and rape swept the capital.
The international community including Nigeria was outraged at the coup and carnage and opposed the new regime. Suddenly, Nigerian troops who had been stationed in that country for years as part of the ECOMOG force as allies of the Sierra Leone soldiers found that their allies had become overnight enemies. Fewer than 700 grossly outnumbered Nigerian soldiers were suddenly pinned down in a hostile capital crawling with thousands of soldiers and deadly rebels who had been on the receiving end of Nigerian bullets for some time. Out of the modest number of troops, 50 men were posted to secure the luxurious and International Mammy Yoko Hotel which was safe haven for more than 1000 foreigners unable to leave the country including West Africans, Lebanese and international journalists. Unfortunately for the lightly armed men at the hotel, a Nigerian warship stationed offshore started shelling the Sierra Leone Army headquarters. This angered the SLA troops and their RUF allies who in their thousands angrily attempted to storm the hotel, and laid siege with rocket launchers, assault rifles, heavy machine guns and other heavy weapons including a few strikes by an attack helicopter piloted by a Ukranian mercenary.
The Nigerian troops spread themselves out over strategic areas of the huge building (especially the roof) and frustrated the vastly superior rebel force for several hours, killing many RUF rebels and SLA fighters. This group of Nigerian fighters not only secured the hotel, it also committed a sizeable part of the enemy forces in the intense firefight and bought time for the larger Nigerian force to secure the airport and enable Nigerian Air-force jets take control of the airspace as well as ground forces that eventually recaptured Freetown.

Nigerian soldiers are among the finest fighters in the world and on a good day they can really kick butt! Enough respect to the Nigerian Armed Forces. Keeping the peace everywhere they are called to.

who else noticed that the paint scheme on this group of MRAP and the scorpion light tank is different from the ones in the NE AOR.

this one livery are jungle camouflage to blend into the thick mangrove swamps down south.

light tanks are preferred in swamps over MBT which will get bugged down.

You're just making inflammatory comments that are not based on any facts whatsoever.

An MRAP is an APC, why shouldn't the army deploy when you have miscreants all over the place bombing pipelines. Who has Nigeria's current recession helped?

The Army is well aware of the assets it needs to deploy. You're in no position to make ridiculous claims.

That camo is our new desert camo. All the soldiers deployed in the N.E have uniforms in that blend of Camo. It blends perfectly in that environment than here.

Tracked IFVs, vehicles such as the BMD-4M are the absolute best for that terrain.
