He didn't fight to prove anything. He only fought for South south oil. cool

You all were and still are pawns to the actualisation of the idea.

At the time Ojukwu fought, there was no 'South-South'. There was only Eastern Nigeria. Igbo land where Ojukwu comes from has more than enough Oil anyway.

I've watched this video a number of times and the hypocrisy is mind blowing. I give props to Major Taffy Williams, my father fought alongside him on the Biafran side and he was a great motivator. It should be noted that mercenaries were used on both sides of the war, infact, Nigeria used far mor mercenaries than Biafra.

As Ojukwu rightly said in the interview "war is the price of freedom". Every war has one side that is fighting for freedom and another side that is fighting to take freedom away. When it comes to the Nigerian/Biafran war, every Nigerian knows which side was fighting freedom and which side was fighting to take that freedom away.

I'm happy that people like Gowon, Obasunjo, Buhari, IBB who all fought against Biafra and went on to be presidents are all still alive today. I'm happy that they all alive to see the faliure that same Nigeria has become.

Ojukwu has been vindicated, the Nigeria he fought againt turned out to be a monumental disaster, proving that Ojukwu was right to try and get him people out.

Well said but want to add to ur words if you would allow me that rare privilege. The generals you mentioned apart from OBJ, it would also be great if each of them could write memoirs on the war from their point if view. Not something similar to the scandalous lies written and rewritten by OBJ but a clearer account of the war. Our generation needs to read and re-read these accounts not to fuel the fire of Biafra but to understand it so that a deja vu won't perpetrate in our time and so that we can cleverly secure peace for our children.

The earlier Nigerian youths wake up to the reality of the fact that this geographical contraption called Nigeria is a failed state the better for them a country with huge resources both human and natural cannot fix roads operate a quality research driven educational system cannot even creat jobs for its teeming youths and university graduates it has all become survival of the fittest for over 10million unemploymed youths. different form of crimes ranging from yahoo yahoo advanced fee fraud gun running robbery kidnapping ritual has becoke the predominant occupation of our youths may God punish the British for their evil arrangements called Nigeria Lagos before 1914 was a thriving and independent crown colony and southern protectorate was a rich independent colony and likewise Northern protectorate. amongst the comity of nations we have become objects of mockery our international passports has become synonymous with criminality nobody will respect u anywhere in the world rather once u are around the level of suspicion on u is high. foreign policy is zero the life of a Nigerian out there is not worth one dollar. you can imagine there will be the first to be killed on a slightest provocation anywhere in the world. How did we get here. Nigerian youths sit back and think its neither getting better. I suggest true fedralism rather than faning embers of tribalism and hate

How exactly is the fact that Biafra hired many foreign mercenaries who helped train most of our civilians into soldiers and did fought in the combat along us new info?

What exactly is wrong with Afonjas.

Why do they want to die on top Biafran matter?

Why did the igbos co-opt unwilling tribe into their eldorado Biafra? If they were seceeding, why annexed the mid-west? It was an unforgiving error on part of Ojukwu and other Biafran leaders.

It's your hipocrisy that is mind blowing. Have you forgotten that you are also talking about the same Nigeria Ojukwu later denounced Biafra to serve?

Ojukwu has never denounced Biafra, on the contrary, there are YouTube videos where Ojukwu said he was honoured and proud to have led Biafra. The only thing Ojukwu did was to give 'one Nigeria' a chance, and he lived long enough to see it fail. At almost 80, nobody expects Ojukwu to start fighting again.

True...but the only real way to do it..is to actually teach it as part of history courses....

I fail to understand why that part is totally skipped in all the social studies and bla bla bla we did growing up.....

Listening to newspapers analysis this morning on Metro fm, come how Igbos were calling telling PMB that Biafra will be whether he liked it or not. Expecting a ban, anyway.

Grandstanding, if Ojukwu was right as you have proclaimed please always note he failed woefully at freeing his people also. He as not been vindicated for leaving his people in what you term a disaster. I do not see vindication on his path all I see is a weakling educated in the best military schools of Europe and with a race as determined as the Igbo he could not outsmart the aboki led army that does nothing but chew goro n sips kunu. What more can be termed a failure ?!

Ojukwu deserve to be brought back to life and flogged a million times for wasting igbos lives on a course he could not guarantee victory. War my friend is not the olympics where you win by just participating. Now I ask you are the igbos better off in nigeria or outside of it after the Biafran war ? The answer which stares you in the face should tell who the failure his btw the country Nigeria and Ojukwu.

Biafrans want to go cos according to them we re "evil, drug pushers, kidnappers, baby factory", still they wont let us go. Why?

Even in the fight against Boko Haram, Mercenaries at some point fought on the side of Nigeria. Boko Haram use mercenaries. Some call them military contractors, while some call them paid guns. It's a big business.

U noticed that too. I agree again with you. Am glad that we do have educated and sane thinkers on nairaland. Not those buffoons that follow people everywhere screaming Biafra without understanding what our parents past through during that time. My Uncle who fought in that war, God rest his soul said before passing on and I quote "It is easy to go about clamouring for Biafra and a repeat of a lost course without knowing how one lived, how one had to scrounge like a rat to survive. I dont wish such a repeat on my children or relatives".
