For admin login, use the on- screen keyboard to enter the password or get an external keyboard and use it to type in the password. Plug in the USB keyboard before you turn on the computer and then use it to type in your password. If you try those options, and you still can't login, then you must have forgotten your password. You can chat or call me on 08164685979 to clear it. Remember you will have to convince me the system is yours for me to help you clear it.

As for the battery icon , what you should be looking at is if the percentage of the battery is increasing when a charger is plugged in. If that is true, no problem with your system.

Good morning Prof.
My laptop hangs at will whenever it's in use & the only option for me whenever this happens is a hard Restart by pressing on the Power Button. This shuts the system down and I press it again for starting up the system and it starts working normally.

Hanging is probably caused by the overheating of VGA. Overheating of VGA is probably due to faulty fan or a fan that is not blowing properly. Faulty fan is a common problem of Elitebook 8460P.
So basically you need the services of a board engineer who will help you remove the dust from the fan or change it if necessary. If you are in Lagos, I can help you fix it.

The problem of " plugged in not charging" of your Dell N5040 is something that can be fixed.
From your statement, it seems you have tried different engineers, but the problem persists.
Have you tried testing with another charger?
Have you tried another battery?

if yes , I can help you fix it if you are in Lagos. Call or whstsapp me on 08164685979

It probably due to overheating of the VGA. Restarting is also due to a faulty fan or a fan not functioning well.

What kind of application do you run before it restarts?
Do you notice the temperature of the underneath casing of your system when it restarts.
You need to see a board engineer to help service your laptop.

First you need to try another battery and another charger on that system. If the problem persists, then a board engineer is worth visiting.

when you say blank , do you mean the laptop is not displaying any written letters or just a white screen?

If that is the case, then you have a screen problem/ signal cable/ board problem on your hands.

On the other hand , if you can see the brand logo of your laptop ( e.g HP, Toshiba, Samsung, Dell) when you switch on the laptop, but not booting to the logon page, then that is a different problem entirely.
Get back to me on which one you are experiencing

if it is boot device not found, then your hard drive is most likely the culprit. On rare occasions, the problem may also be as a result of a faulty motherboard.
First get your hard drive out and replace it again. Your hard drive may have shifted from its position as a result of moving it here and there. So just remove the hard drive and replace it again. Remember to remove your battery and charger from the system before doing this.
if that doesn't solve it, try the following.

You can diagnose the problem by getting a working hard drive from a friend and testing it on your system.
If it works, your hard drive is bad. if it doesn't , then your mother needs examination.

My Dell Latitude E6420 fingerprint reader stopped reading fingerprints, and has locked me out of my laptop as I had enabled BIOS authentication on it. Is there a way to flash and reset the BIOS?

PS: Dell sent a supposed reset password that's not working.

There are two basic methods of resolving this issue. The software method involving entering a master password to clear the bios. The second method involves replacing your bios with a new one.
If you are in Lagos and need someone to help you with this, call or whatsapp me on 08164685979 provided you can convince me it is not a stolen ware.

I'm not in Lagos and if it was a stolen ware, Dell wouldn't have sent technicians twice to my house for repairs (before my complete care, next business day on site repairs, extended battery life warranties expired), and I'm not sure my details would've been attached to the service tag code on Dell's database. No sir, it's not stolen.

OK...Reach me on my mobile and let's try the password method. I must emphasize this is under probability. The surest method in clearing a BIOS password is replacing the chip.

Since you just formatted and reloaded your system, I guess the WiFi needs to be driven for it to work.

If you know how to use driver pack, this should be a piece of cake . Just get driver pack and use it to drive the WiFi. if you are in Lagos, you can contact me to help you.
