Tinubu Is A Poor Student Of History For Supporting The North- Aribisala by BuariCopyPaste: 12:14pm On Oct 24, 2016
An iconoclastic Pastor, Femi Aribisala has described a National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu as an experienced politician who has a bad knowledge of history.

He made the remark while reacting to the allegationl of conspiracy against Tinubu by some Northern politicians within the APC.

Tinubu, a former Lagos State Governor has come under attack after he demanded the resignation of APC’s National Chairman, John Oyegun over the party’s decision to overrule its Appeal Committee which recommended the cancellation of the Ondo governorship primary election.

Recall that a key leader of the defunct National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, had recently asserted that Tinubu’s alliance with the North was responsible for his travail in the party.

Corroborating Adebanjo’s stance, Aribisala, a social commentator and public analyst, in an interview with the Punch berated Tinubu for opting to continually form alliance with the North which has never had “any progressive pretensions.”

According to Aribisala, “Tinubu is an experienced politician, but a bad student of history.

“In 2011, he formed an alliance with Abubakar Atiku and the People Democratic Movement, who represents a more progressive part of the North, but could not prevail against the colossus of the PDP.

“Therefore, in 2015, he entered into an alliance with Buhari and the core North, which has never even had any progressive pretensions. There is nothing progressive about President Buhari.

“Everything about the president’s politics was smoke and mirrors. He commanded the support of a significant number of the Northern poor, in spite of the fact that there is absolutely nothing in his CV about advancing the interests of the poor.

“He is a conservative politician opposed to any restructuring of Nigeria’s polity through a national conference. His only claim to popular appeal is a questionable belief that he is anti-corruption.

“It was only a matter of time before uneasy bed-fellows of the APC came to logger-heads. Once the election was won, the APC started falling apart. The PDP wing of the party conducted a coup and hijacked the National Assembly. Now the organs of the party have been wrenched from Tinubu’s Action Congress of Nigeria. ”

Aribisala condemned the anti-graft war of the Buhari-led administration, stressing that there is is nothing real about the ongoing graft.

He said, “There is actually no real war against corruption going on today. There is not even a fight against corruption, how much more a war. What we have is a government attempt to decimate the opposition and create a de facto one-party state under the guise of fighting against corruption.

“The PDP was not the only party in power before 2015. Parties of the APC coalition were also in power at the state level. So why is it that only the PDP is being prosecuted?

“You cannot fight corruption with corruption. That is what the government has been doing. You cannot fight corruption by abrogating the rule of law. We have heard so much hyperbole about this fight against corruption, but with very little actual results. It has all been just one big propaganda exercise. The fight against corruption has become a poor and pathetic make-shift substitute for effective public policy.

“As we get closer and closer to 2019, the fighting will become more vicious and more incendiary. I don’t expect the APC to survive.”

This is to appeal to every southerners that our future is in our hands. A united south is what we need now to stand against northern oppression and divide and rule tactics. We must ensure we work together to restore power to the south by 2019. The north obviously has a grand plan of retaining power for so long and this is obvious in the way Tinubu is been put in check so as to limit his influence in the party decisions and made irrelevant in the scheme of things. We never expected such treatment from the north after all we did to support Buhari in the last election. Oyegun is obviously been used to fight a proxy war with Tinubu by the born to rule caliphate up north who will do anything to render his power bloc handicap so as to ensure their grip on power. We need the support our SS/SE brothers to make this happen. Lets us unite and forget all grievances. A united south can wrestle power away from the north with the support of Christian minorities in the middle belt and the north. GEJ was a bad president contrary to our thoughts in 2011 when we supported him massively with our votes. He failed woefully and corruption thrived to the highest heavens during his tenure. Contrary to the believe of our SS/SE brothers, yoruba's did not vote Jonathan out because of hatred or betrayal. He simply under-performed and did nothing for the SW region and even boasted that Igbo's are the backbone of his presidency forgetting that the SW supported him massively in 2011. Buhari appeared to be the messiah but so far, the hardship in the land is so unbearable and there is no end in sight to the present predicaments facing us as a nation. Buhari has no economic blueprint and his style of governance is archiac and filled with bad policies like banning forex for importation of consumer goods and releasing the same scarce forex for Islamic religious pilgrimage. It's a bad situation we are in and we need to co-operate to undo this mistake in 2019. Every one is facing hardship and bearing the brunt of inflation and recession irrespective of our tribes and regions. This is why we need the support of our SS/SE brothers in 2019 to vote buhari out. Let's form an alliance and forget past mis-deeds. We are better united in the south than been ruled by a primitive caliphate who believed they are born to rule without positive results....

Take your campaign to abyss. So the criteria for unity is when Tinubu is flopped by his slave masters? Out of your incurable disdain for the Igbos, you still reserves some effronteries to compare the performance of His Excellency. Chief, Dr. Goodluck Ebere Jonathan to that of the Tyrant Buhari? The fact that even in the circle of oppression by your slave masters, you still figure out points to discredit Jonathan is a certified truth that your above campaign is deceptive with the aim of using the Igbos to gain some political balance for your Region. But you should have known better that the Igbos from the on set where never dumb and dunce like you and your Cos and we can never offer you any assistance in cleaning up your "self imposed mess". It's your shiitt, so deal with it and leave us outa it.

I think it is highly instructive for you to stick to the topic of discussion.

It is very hypocritical for you to make this about the Igbo nation.

Aribasala pointed out the obvious reasons why Tinubu is going thru his present travails and all you could do is to make it about the Igbo?

No wonder people are skeptical about this "southern unity" . You have to come off your high horse.

Tinubu is a bad student of history bla bla bla...

Did Tinubu thumbprint the votes APC accrued from the southwest in the last general election.

All this Tinubu nonsense is nauseating, did anyone force those who voted in Jonathan at the 2011 polls.

We all know APC are bunch of shitheads, northerners are backstabbing assholes bla bla bla...

PDP lost the presidential election because of their bad precedents...

The question I'll continue to ask people and PDP supporters is:

Can you guys swear that PDP was the best thing to ever happen to Nigeria as a country, because I don't understand this endless ululation.

Ha ha ha.

So it's time for the South to unite against Northern power grab, huh ?

It wasn't so before the elections, so what has changed ?

First of all, stop the lie that southwest voted out GEJ because of mismanagement. In the history of leadership in Nigeria, kindly name one or two leaders who have managed the economy better, encouraged a more United Nigeria while fighting insurgent terrorists, grew the economy and expanded the middle class, invested more in education, agriculture and infrastructure than Goodluck Jonathan .

Be honest and confess that the majority of southwest voted out Jonathan for two main reasons.
1. Tribalism.
Given a dog bad name in order to hang it.
You gave GEJ a bad name as pretext to hate him for being a South Easterner.
We are smart enough to read between the lines.

2. Tinubu Factor:
The majority of Southwesterners were duped by the propaganda machinery of their political General Overseer, Tinubu.
Tinubu fronted himself as one who knew what was best for the Southwest, and the people followed, hook , line and sinker, just like the pied Piper.

Well, predictably, today the chickens have come home to roost.

OBJ and GEJ did an excellent job of demystifying the political hegemony of the North.
With the help of Tinubu and his Southwest brothers and sisters, the North struck back, and is moving full speed to consolidate its power, and not ready to relinquish it in the foreseeable near future.

If a good southern coalition is formed against Buhari in 2019, there might not be an election at all.
Mark my words.

Buhari is emasculating Tinubu and his political blocks, hounding PDP henchmen, hounding and intimidating members of the judiciary , all because he wants to create a one-party state that would ensure that only him and feudal oligarchs keep power in perpetuity.

In as much there is an urgent need for all the South and Middle belt to unite, it is nearly impossible with soooo much distrust and tribalism created and foisted on the rest of us by stomach infrastructure, contract and porridge politicians.

I mean can the rest of the south ever align/trust the yorubas....history says otherwise

You don't need to trust a man to trust their self interest. They benefit from same policy of decentralization of federal government powers and fiscal federalism. It's only northern states like Kano that don't like idea. Their elder statesman proves this.

Agreed, he has learned now..

He wants to unlearn by aligning with Peter Obi, another failed politician from East in 2019 shocked

See the recession his decision to support APC has caused the country.Very shameful

He is best as regional leader because of his lack of knowledge and depth of other geo-politics in the country. Nonsense.

“Everything about the president’s politics was smoke and mirrors. He commanded the support of a significant number of the Northern poor, in spite of the fact that there is absolutely nothing in his CV about advancing the interests of the poor. shocked shocked shocked

Buhari sef embarassed

God bless SW /SS and SE

Has your Lion of Bourdillon suddenly lost his fangs & claws he can no longer attack his prey, hold and devour them, he now wants a rally round? What a disappointment!

I find it very insulting when you people think you can turn around to ask for a combined force with the Igbos to fight for your benefit.
You people can go to blazes! United South my a55.

(Even the call for a united 'SW/SS and SE' is mischievous. So SS now comes before SE? )

So he should isolate himself from the North and perhaps the South as well?
What kind of politics do we practice here?
