Implementing the law properly should not be termed as salary reduction. My salary was not reduced in any way because I have been paying my full tax previously. People should pay their taxes accordingly and stop complaining and misinforming the public.

Buhari should slash his salary as well and that of those thieves in the Senate and house of representatives. Their lucrative bonuses should be slashed as well.

Until then, Buhari is a COW!

I honestly dnt understand for the lazy minds who can not reason on their own apart from what they see in the headline.

When did Tax, pension deductions become a slash in salary ?

I would only support that the change be communicated ahead of time and implemented probably during February Payroll..

Buhari should stop oppressing the poor, tax the rich for christ sake. A very good opportunity to slash not just salaries but also allowances of those old men sitting in the house of reps and assembly. Tax those who own more than 2 cars, big mansions etc not trying to kill the already dead masses. You haven't done anything for them but yet you keep trying to milk life outta them

Please talking nonsense. Civil servants do not pay their taxes directly. The govt deducts their taxes at source.

At source means that their taxes are removed and so also pension, loans, etc by the accounts dept before they are paid.

Many companies do that also.

Stop displaying you ignorance.

Buhari and harsh policies!

One day people will reject this nonsense

Hard policies?
Please, Educate us.

A country where her citizens do not pay tax will NEVER grow. Everybody wants to leave Nigeria to the USA, yet very few knows that you get to pay between 40-50% of your monthly salary as tax (both sate and federal tax)

I know a guy who earns $6,000 monthly in the US, he pays 45% of this as tax, pays $1,200 as rent, around $350 as utilities bill, aound $320 as insurance, buys petrol and feed himself. How much does he have left?

The UK pays similar tax and that's why these countries are growing massively.

If Nigeria wants to grow, we have to start taking taxes seriously!

The Personal Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2011 is an act of law and that is what we have been using since 2011. If the president feels it should be changed, it can only be done through the national assembly. This is a democracy so you people should begin to act like we are in a democracy and stop defending all these blatant regard for due process.

Re: FG Slashes Civil Servants' Salaries Weeks Before Christmas Pix by HAH: 8:45am On Dec 02, 2016
This report is misleading, it shows as if all FG workers salaries were slashed, while the truth is deduction being made as most FG staff were not being done to them and this was implemented now. Every worker in government or organised private sector must see the deduction in the memo above, the question why was VON not being deducted hitherto

You are getting some facts wrong. As a medical doctor my call duty allowance is not taxable by law, but the government has been been doing it. There was a 43k reduction in my salary this month, add to the the previous deductions prior to November, my tax per month runs into close to or above 100k .
So by touching my call duty they are not implementing the law properly.
