I'm sure we are all familiar with the story of the strongest man ever in the bible. Mr Samson.

Let me tell u reasons I feel this story never happened and I really wonder what the writer was thinking of.

Samson was a man given ultimate power by Yaweh but fell in the hands of Delilah to the philistines. The story of his fall is the most absurd story ever!

Delilah tried to get the deepest secret samson ever had, the secrets of his power...and the story went like this:

1st attempt: After much pressure, Samson gave Delilah a wrong answer "If they bind me with seven green withes that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man."

And behold the very next day, Samson was bound with seven green withes..

People tell me, even the most stupidest person in the world will realise at this point he has been betrayed, but dont laugh yet as there was attempt no 2

No 2: After the 1st failed, the strongest man had no clue his most precious secret has been given away by the only woman he told but went ahead to bow to more pressure and he gave another wrong answer as "If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man."

Behold, the very next day, his hands were tied with the new ropes but is it not amazing that he still had no clue he was being betrayed?? Now at this point I am almost passing out of shock for this level of stupidity if it ever existed

Attempt no 3: Yes there was a 3rd attempt, believe me a 3rd attempt !!!!!
"If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.
and yet it happened again.

Winner01, Anas09, 4everGod...pls how do u guys believe this story
Even if someone is cursed with stupidity, it cant be this terrible to give a 4th chance of eventually revealing his most precious secret to som1 that has betrayed him 3 times consecutively..

Aba!!! bible stories??

Now guys, don't laugh off your eyes yet because the part that killed it all was after the philistines cut off his hair and finally caught the most dreaded enemy of their generation.

These guys knew his source of power was his hair, but it is astonishing that a large number of stupid people did not know hairs can grow...or did not know that they would need to shave off his hairs daily but they let him alone till his hairs grew back.

The writer must be drunk, no no but christians believe this!!!! people like KingEbukasBlog and Pidgin2 believe this...this is the part my imaginations can no longer handle.

But science is still finding it hard to find the relationship between hairs and physical strength

Pls Christians help me understand ur delusions

You're understanding the Bible stories with a carnal mindset. Every Bible story is meant to pass a message hidden in it. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide your understanding and you would be fine.

One of the major things the HOLY SPIRIT HAS MADE ME TO UNDERSTAND from the story of SAMSON is how it depicts TYPICALLY what is today call a SUCIDE BOMBER.

"Let my soul die with the philistines" Then he killed his enemies while commiting sucide himself.

THE INVENTOR OF SUCIDE BOMBING IS MR. SAMSON.

Na wa Prophet of God wey dey patronize ASHAW'O.. Well as for that am still waiting for the HOLY SPIRIT who inspired the SONG OF SOLOMON to interprete it to me like a TALKING DIRTY LIKE A POET.

THE BIBLE IS 100% THE WORDS OF GOD INDEED!

Samson was known for his strength and not wisdom - he acted stupidly of course . Delilah tried three times to inveigle Samson to reveal the secret of his strength. And she failed to three times because Samson deceived her with various stories. Samson was just playing games with her as the Spirit of God had left him because he disobeyed God's law by showing intentions to marry a Philistine woman despite the act being a violation of God’s law on intermarriage with pagans . And of course , he was totally in love with her . Love is blind kiss

Anyway , Samson’s hair was not the source of his strength - his unshaven hair was simply the sign that he was obeying God’s command for him to be a Nazarite. The Spirit of God was the source of Samson's strength not his hair .

Judges 16: 17
And he told her all his heart, and said to her, “A razor has never come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother's womb. If my head is shaved, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak and be like any other man.”

According to the dictionary , a Nazirite is an Israelite who was consecrated to the service of God, under vows to abstain from alcohol, let the hair grow, and avoid defilement by contact with dead bodies (Num. 6). So that means the unshaven hair was the symbol of a Nazarite's relationship with God .

2. Tell me how a whole philistine tribe can be so stupid to let his hair grow back.

3. His hair was related to his strength as the bible made emphasis on his hair growing back making him grow in strength...so tell me the relationship between hair and strength.

4. why didn't they just kill Samson in his sleep at the very 1st time

1. The fact that Samson patronised Ashawo is the more reason the spirit of God left him. That moment he became a fool despite being powerful because he didn't have the Fear of God any more. " The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom " say the Bible.
That's why he behaved foolishly. Wisdom left him. He was decieved two times and failed untill the third time. Foolishness on display.

2. He said let me die with my enemies . What was left for him Again after loosing his strength and eyes. He asked for death and got it. Those philistines were the enemies of God. They insulted God like the Atheists do today. Called God many names and rejected Him. So they died with Samson. Do u have a problem with that?

Obatala hung a chain from a corner of the sky, placed the bag over his shoulder, and started the downward climb. When he reached the end of the chain he saw he still had some distance to go.

From above, he heard Orunmila instruct him to pour the sand from the snail's shell, and also immediately release the white hen.

He did as he was told, whereupon the hen landing on the sand began scratching and scattering it about.

IF THE STORY HAD BEEN IN THE BIBLE, CHRISTIANS WOULD HAVE BELIEVED AND SHALL DEFEND IT WITH THEIR LIVES

But I have a problem when people swallow the Jewish myths that does not even have an african name nor made reference to africans and laugh at their own very tribal myths..

Talk of mental slavery!!!

Judges 16 : 23-25
23 Now the lords of the Philistines gathered to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god and to rejoice, and they said, “Our god has given Samson our enemy into our hand.”
24 And when the people saw him, they praised their god. For they said, “Our god has given our enemy into our hand, the ravager of our country, who has killed many of us.”
25 And when their hearts were merry, they said, “Call Samson, that he may entertain us.”

They wanted to mortify him in front of the lords of the Philistines during a pagan ceremony for the propitiation of their god . And yes , not every Philistine knew the source of Samson's strength , all they wanted Delilah to do was to subdue him and debilitate his strength through seduction because Samson bedeviled them with his strength for a long time . And remember Samson told her that his strength goes away if his hair is shaven . And she may have thought once the hair is shaven , Samson strength would be gone forever .

Answer the questions

How stupid can a man be to get betrayed 4 times on his most precious secret

How stupid could the philistines have been to allow his hair grow back.

Even a child will ask "Uncle, why did they let his hair grow back and why did Samson tell Delilah his secret after she has betrayed him a 1st time, 2nd time 3rd time till 4th time"

pls use your sense na

Let me start with the Song of Solomon. When last did your pastor read it to the hearing of the CHURCH CONGREGATION. That song is good for those who are low in LIBIDO.

As for Samson patronizing ASHAW'O being a prophet of 'God' that should teach is Morality. i am not surprise as regards bible stories. David slept with another mans wife and also killed her husband. Noah and his daughters that marathon sex after their dad was all drunk. Jesus fiirst miracle is INTOXICANT. I CAN GO ON AND ON.

This topic is about common sense.

It would be the height of stupidity for this story to happen to anyone...only a perfect slowpoke.

1. Tell me how the judge of Israel was so stupid to tell a lie the first time and the lie was used exactly as said against him...and it happened a 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th time... HOW?

2. The philistines were so stupid they forgot to cut of his hairs or so stupid to leave chances
These 2 questions only are weeping for answers or should I say common sense!

what is so difficult in stating the answers clearly perhaps u have nothing to say and doging questions like bullets. or are u ashamed of the stupidity of the story

I answered your questions bro . They were too easy sha . The bible characters involved may have not applied wisdom but it does not mean the story is stupid .

There are lessons in the story like'

1. We should apply wisdom apparently Samson and even Delilah didn't - foolishness can lead to our downfall.

2. Samson's sins cost him his strength and position as the Judge of Israel . Imagine a judge being mortified in the midst of his enemies ?
Tufiakwa ! This shows why we should eschew sin and always live a good moral life which is pleasing to God .

3. Samson turned back to God and God responded to his request . This shows that God is ready to forgive us though we disobey Him and renege on our promises to Him

Judges 16:28
28 Then Samson called to the Lord and said, “O Lord God, please remember me and please strengthen me only this once, O God, that I may be avenged on the Philistines for my two eyes.”

” 29 And Samson grasped the two middle pillars on which the house rested, and he leaned his weight against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other.

30 And Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines.” Then he bowed with all his strength, and the house fell upon the lords and upon all the people who were in it. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he had killed during his life
