U.S. Marines with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa partnered with Uganda People' s Defense Force soldiers during training, Oct. 7- Dec. 1. The bilateral training mission focused on sharing tactics in a multitude of skills including heavy equipment operation, mechanical work, motor transport techniques, communication and combat engineering.

This is great victory. The Syrian army has every right to rid Syria off American, Saudi, Qatar and Al Jazeera news backed terrorists.

Victory of common sense over barbarism.

Small enclave still left.
Unfortunately, Palmyra got captured by shitty state, there'll have to be coordinated pushes on Mosul, raqqa, Palmyra (relieve Deir er Zor) in order to put the terrorists on the defensive instead of an ability to mount offensives at different points.

4000 Jihadists attacked a position held by under 1000 Syrian army soldiers. i read the Tiger unit is currently assessing the situation.

Doubt up to 4000.
From equipment captured, it showed very little defence of the city. Seems like the main bulk of the army got deployed elsewhere and left less experienced (paramilitary) numbers in Palmyra. Besides, small numbers of Tiger Forces were also in Palmyra when terrorists attacked. In another way, it also shows the poor quality of troops in many Arab units, once an enemy attacks, they peel away only for another counter attack to recapture previously captured areas by others which costs more lives.

Most likely after Aleppo, Desert hawks, Tiger forces and the mix of the proscribed terror groups fighting for Assad would have to be redeployed there.

Word is the FSA has agreed to leave the city in the famous "green busses"... Same way many other pockets have been shut down.

Palmyra is a meme city, the real center of gravity in the area is T2 airbase, just west of it.... Biggest arms stockpile in the country, and it's locked down tiiight

Now the interesting part comes... With Aleppo out the way the FSA will have 25 000 men (including Hawks/Tiger brigade)... Where they go will tell us everything we need to know

I doubt the Syrian troops would allow them leave. Besides, since they got them trapped in a very tight corner, it'll be interesting to see what options they got. I think shitty state apart from trying to capture ammo, also went for the oilfields. The noose tightening around them means they are trying to make as much room as possible for themselves in Syria.

Only 300 isis (max)

the entire Tiger forces division is in Aleppo, it took them 3 weeks to move from Palmyra to Aleppo so I doubt they will play much of a role in the coming days.

No one knows what the Desert Hawks Brigade are doing, they are all over the place, Aleppo, Homs and somehow they got into the beseiged airbase at Dez-Azzur.

Story is that ISIS used chemical weapons and NDF (militia) units in Palmyra ran for it leaving only small groups of SAA to hold back the ISIS push

Militia don't like chemical weapons.

It was NDF in the city

Tiger Forces are no longer a cohesive Brigade, they got broken up and sent off to put out fires on multiple fronts

the Syrian army is over stretched, and above all Palmyra is more or less not an important town apart from the T4 tiyas air base near it

Very wrong about Palmyra. Very important to Syria for propaganda and also is the route to the besieged Deir.
Assad used the capture to pry up his government as the legitimate 'protector' of Syrian land, people, artifacts and implied the only force capable of clearing Syria of the filth of shitty state.

Edit: RIP to the Officer.
We hope to an end to the menace of BH soon.

Apologies for off topic too

At the height of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, yes. Recruitment by private military contractors depleted the ranks but the situation has somewhat stabilised since then. Can't divulge figures but let's just say this: used to be Jozi and Cape Town bases which had full complement and operators had to fly if needed elsewhere.

Now it's bases in most of the metros. We're still losing operators to PMCs (and to the bloody PPU CAT, which doesn't want to train its own! -my STF mate insists I put that down) though, across all of our elite units.

Thanks for that insight, I took that figure from an article about Marikana. Believe a colonel disclosed that number some years back. Wish they could do even a 10 minute documentary for old times sake
