Vote Icon4s for NFF President . You have my vote. No shaking.

Exactly, we can organize low scale friendlies too and use the international breaks to have a close look at our promising talents. Even organize friendly games at the U20 level.

Teams that are going to the African and European youth Championship will love to have a go at some of our bright talents.

Very impressive contribution.

NFF President ke? No o.

You'll be amazed at how dirty politics is played even at that level. The best candidate for the job does not always win.

Exactly, I have been saying it that our problem has never been discovery of talents but progressing the talents. We have a rich group of highly talented players that are currently 21yrs and less. All we think of is pushing them into the Super where there are very limited spaces.

We can form an U21 team strictly for harvesting the best talents into the Super Eagles. European countries also have U21 teams just for that purpose. We should not make the Super Eagles team an all comers affair. Any young talent we see as a prospect for the Super Eagles and he is U21 we try him with our U21s.

We can have an annual competition involving our league top teams and these U21 Players.

Talents like Obinna Nwobodo, Ifeanyi Mathew, Chidi Nwakali, Azubuike Okechukwu, Dele Alampasu and even Musa Mohammed and other talented players I earlier mentioned are now of age but just that they are not having the opportunity mainly bc of the level of competition in the Super Eagles and there lack of exposure as far as international football is concerned at the senior stage. We need to see how these boys are progressing. Rohr needs to keep assessing the level of readiness of these players for senior team action. We can organize friendlies against lets say senior teams of Benin, Niger or Chad or even home based Eagles. Let the boys start having the feel of senior international challenges.

Also, that will give us an edge when we want to select a Team for the All African Games and Olympics. All Nigerian players who are 20 years and less this year 2017 are eligible for the 2020 Olympics. It means players like Sadiq Umar, Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Chidera Ezeh, Orji Okonkwo, Kingsley Michael, Musa Yahaya, Ifeanyi Mathew, Kelechi Nwakali, Azubuike Okechukwu, Samuel Chukwueze, Chidozie Awaziem, Nura Abdulahi, Fabian Senninger and other talents that are soon to emerge from different leagues would be 23yrs or less by 2020.
This crop would have taken the world by storm if we would have presented them at the next FIFA U20 WC, 2017.

We need to keep engaging them for proper gelling. The future of Nigeria's continued dominance in football lies in their boots.

I am glad Rohr does not think like you. No one is asking for a babysitter. Check if he is good enough. Just as Keshi helped the likes of Mba and Oboabona professionally, finding a brilliant potential can help us mould another Star.

“Aside from Tyronne, we have found a player in Germany who was playing in the Bundesliga last year but has gone down on relegation," he continued.

“He is 20 years old. He told me it’s an honour for him to come to play for the country of his father, his mother is German.

“He is like Balogun, very quick and very good. Hopefully, he will come too.

“So now, we have the time to see them play in their clubs, speak and meet with them, bring them in a good condition in order to help us for the qualification.”

Keshi invited Obabona and Mba because it's easier to manage the contingency of calling a home based player.
But with fabian, the FA has to pay for buisness class return ticket. The added cost which this incures isnt worth it just to watch an academy kid train.

Why are you so sure Rohr was referring to Fabian? Am pretty sure Fabian didn't play in the Bundesliga last season.
He hasn't even made an appearance in the Bundesliga 2 this season.

You forgot to mention that some hear accurately predicted that Sadiq Umar will make the Olympics team and he now wears the Olympics Bronze Medal.

Sadiq Umar can do what Ighalo is currently doing now. Going games without goals.

Was it not after the massive withdrawals from players like Ighalo, Iheanacho and Success? Sadiq for near the team if this trio were in that Rio team?

That's not even the major reason.

Keshi had the privilege of starting his tenure with low profile games. I recall his first was against Rwanda. He prosecuted both legs with predominantly home base players. He was able to assess how relevant they would be in his team going forward. Our next game was against Liberia, another low profile opponent. With those four games Keshi improved the confidence level of those home boys. That made Keshi in return to have confidence in their abilities.

Fabian. You wan start the guy against Cameroun in the WC qualifiers? Friendlies are what they are: "friendlies". I am not completely ruling out the relevance of friendlies in assessing a player but its relevance is nothing compared to a grade A WC qualifiers.

CB position IMO is where we have the least problems.
Ok, we have a first choice CB pairing of Balogun and Ekong. Omeruo another seasoned and experienced CB is in the team. We also have a Jamiu Alimi, one of the best CBs in the NPFL. If e had too much we still have Obaobona. Remember also there is one Kenedy Otigba, another seasoned defender waiting for a call-up.

Rohr should instead look for RBs and Central strikers for us.

This will also kill our fire brigade approach in preparing for tournaments. If only our NFF members can kill the greed, like the developmental funds wasted and unaccounted for, we can gel our youngsters, screen the best our and build a formidable Super Eagles.

Let us hope they change. It is sad the bulk of the work falls on Rohr when a little delegation of duties from the NFF can go a long way. If Investors and Sponsors see progress like the one you highlighted, they will feel motivated to support it. Scouts will have more time to monitor our talents and the Local clubs will benefit from the exposure.

Nice one boss.

I am sorry to say it but you guys are totally missing my point. I said call Fabian Senninger to camp for one of the Friendly games. I have stressed on it but here we are talking of Cameroon. Cameroon comes after After Rohr assesses him closely and runs his verdict.

What I hammered on is watching him closely and in camp for Friendly. I am not even talking of Friendly game. If Rohr is convinced in camp, then Fabian Senninger can play in the upcoming Friendly. After the Friendlies, then we can talk of the qualifier.

First is camping and close assess. If he does well, give him his chance.

No. I get your point.

I was reacting to goldfish80's comparison with the Obaobona and Mba's case.

Obaobona and Mba started with ACFON Qualifying games, 4 games in a row. However, just a friendly for Fabian may not just be enough to get him into the Super Eagles. It just might be enough for Rohr to have an assessment of him.

Musa Mohammed played an AFCON qualifier against Tanzania and previously a friendly against Luxemburg. Both games he was impressive yet Rohr is still looking for a RB. That tells a lot about Rohr's choice of players selection especially in the defense.

It is time we use the International Breaks and Summer breaks constructively.

Yes I remember keshi started playing relatively low profile games, although an Afcon qualifier is not too low profile in the grand scheme of things.

My initial comment on logistics was informed by Keshi having the latitude to invite home based players and have them in camp for 2 - 3 weeks before the foreign players join. I think the home based players leave camp to play for their league teams and return immediately after league matches.

Precise. The assessment will decide if Fabian is ready for Rohr to put him in his future plans. For a coach like Rohr who coached Bixente Lizarazu, he can tell a young full back who has the quality of becoming top quality.

It is not a sprint but Marathon process.

Yeah, a single state government can fund games like these. They can also make part of their money back from gate tackings if properly advertised and organized.

Even in a friendly game, its too soon to invite Fabian. Friendlies should act as tune up games for the main event like Afcon /World Cup qualifiers. A blend of Super Eagles players and those knocking really hard on the door of the team should execute such games. Friendly games shouldn't be for U19 trialists.
Junior should wait for his time, if he gets into Hannover first team next season, then he has bought a ticket to be invited for such friendly games.

Nwobodo no doubts is one of the most promising young talents in the NPFL presently. But when u look at the Current Super Eagles team where players like Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon and Wilfred Ndidi are not even starters u know it would be difficult for him to break in. And when you consider that the players that he may need to compete with for the AM position are almost his age mates (Iwobi, Etebor, probably Iheanacho) u cannot now say he is a talent for "future plans".

In the 90s we had similar cases where some highly skilled and talented players would be making waves in the local league but they never had that opportunity to play for the Super Eagles. Emmanuel Ebiede, Richard (Owo-blow) Owobokiri among others come to mind.

Nwobodo should just continue doing good and hope a European club comes for him soon.
That is why I am proposing that U21 team. It is for players like these.

Yes he scored 4 goals in 4 games. He could have scored up to 8 if he was a more clinical striker. There were several woeful misses that you'll just be wondering: "Is this guy a footballer sef"? grin

But sincerely speaking do you see him being ready for the Super Eagles?

It is not a waste if we are hunting for quality. Rohr is not satisfied with the full back situation. It is a key ingredient of his attacking play. Rohr is not going to make a guess list. He will call up those who will come to camp after careful deliberation.

We spent money camping different full backs that did not convince Rohr. Will we call that wastage? No. It is a continuous process. If Fabian Senninger can become top quality, investing money in camping him can not become a waste because the aim is to keep making our team stronger.

Yeah, I agree with you. But it means we may never have an opportunity to fully assess most of them. We only see English, Spanish, German and Italian league players. The rest na story we go dey hear.

Kelechi Nwakali with all his flashes of brialliance in Holland have you really seem him play. Not talkin about 2-3mins youtube videos.

The goal is to allow them to progress. Most of them are not fully established at their clubs and leaving even in a window could be a setback for them.

I am talking about off-season window. Wouldn't they have released them if they were to play at the WYC which usually takes place during the end of season?

Yes he scored 4 goals in 4 games. He could have scored up to 8 if he was a more clinical striker. There were several woeful misses that you'll just be wondering: "Is this guy a footballer sef"? grin

But sincerely speaking do you see him being ready for the Super Eagles?

Every striker misses goals, just watch barca once in a while and even Suarez might have u scratch ur head. Can he be a eagle one day? Why not he has the potential to be really good, he just has to get balanced and stronger.

Hmmm...TheGoodJoe must read this.

Yeah, every striker misses goals but I am sure the Sadiq Umar u saw at Rio was not the Sadiq Umar you had envisaged.

It's not about the club having to release them but about the club blackballing them when they get back. There is no need to cause tention between club and player, i also would rather they rest in that period. I remember Moses Simon never got going after the wyc and he didn't even play much.

Vital point but know that that wills slow down their integration into the national team. Most of them may never be call-up.

He was even better than i thought. He was stronger, he had vision to make a pass and he played for the team.
