good day all. received my passport today and it's so heart breaking I was rejected.
REASON: insufficient funds to take care of me for my period of duration..

I submitted all my documents, paid school fees of 7600$ and had a closing balance of 8.5mil.
I am self sponsored. pls what do u guys advice I do now
very sorry about your refusal. Your account balance look pretty ok even for self sponsor. However i think the vo wasn't convinced about the source of your income. How fat is your salary to have such a closing balance. Did you try to explain in your application how you came accross such money in case your salary isnt a fat one. I advice you get your gcms note before reapplying. Try defer your admission to afford you time to address the situation. Also think about getting a co-sponsor (preferably family member that you can easily prove relationship with) the co-sponsor's balance doesn't have to be too fat in as much as he has steady and verifiable income. Don't be down..dust yourself up and do the needful. All the best.

sorry for your refusal, if course mismatch are part of the reasons and you really want to do your supply ish, try to get admitted into economics - which of course you don't want to do and also your supply chain management.
Apply for TRV using the economics admission, when you get to canada continue ur life with supply chain management.
Downside to this plan is that you have to lose around $100 application fee or so to a program you would never attend. At least its better than silly refusals on course mismatch

By the way, i don't know any related course to economics. Other people on the forum can help you out.

Majority of the schools request for tuition deposit of at least $1000 before sending the unconditional offer.

@ thesoj, Why are you talking as if you have never lied before under any circumstance? Even those he lied to, knowing fully well that he lied are still giving him an opportunity to explain, rather than just deny him. Thank God you are not the VO. If you are not experienced in this area, just say you are not instead of this response and if you are and don't want to provide any assistant, just keep mute. I know you on this thread to be very respectful, responsive and helpful, please don't spoil the record.

thesoj:
You lied to the embassy about your prior visa refusals and yet you feel entitled to a fast response. Keep in mind that no one here is being paid to render you any services. It is all voluntary.

I suggest you consider also helping others on here as well, since you authoritatively demand free help as though it is your right. Best of luck.

Let me first of all congratulate you for receiving this letter, they deny people with such a case most times. You have a chance. Have you paid your full school fee? This letter didn't mentioned anything about your course of study or did I miss that? You need to draft a comprehensive response explaining what happened at your visa interview at US embassy in details without telling any lie. State the reason they refused you a visa and your quest to still study outside Nigeria. Don't rush to respond, take your time, you have 15 days. All the best.

@Oluwamalik, As mentioned earlier, start putting together your response, you might also want someone else to read it for you to ensure its well explanatory.

actually he was asking abt PGD/PGC and not masters.

By the way, Waterloo is only extremely mouthed in IT in their undergrad programs, you can't compare Waterloo to the likes of McGill, UofToronto and UBC in terms of postgrad programs. Waterloo is usually the fourth and sometimes fifth after UofA, check any ranking you wish to go through online to confirm.

Of course, is anyone arguing with you about that?

Lolz... This isn't about being a VO or whatever, there are certain things you don't lie about. You can lie about other things but why would one specifically lie to the embassy that one has not been refused visa to other country before where as the individual has been refused visa before...that is so not cool. It has been said on this thread times without number that Canada and USA share immigration information. Anyways, @poppywasiu I wish you luck as you present your case to the embassy.

You can start right now. Since it might take time to get all your document ready like your official transcript, statement of intent etc. It is better to start ASAP.

Lol, for your mind you are fighting for the guy right? Nigeria has lost it so well that the sincere ones find it difficulty to live freely in our society. Calling the guy out isn't the best of what you could have done.

Did you even let the person realize what he did was bad? You rather picked up on the person that did the right thing. Surprisingly, what you did and what he did collectively may/can impact negatively on his app and even every other person's app.

You are surprised yeah? What you don't know his what he just did in a way will rather help you or other people's apps. This is because in as much as here is still a public forum, it is accessible by anyone, yes anyone, even the VO himself. So what kind of conclusion do you expect the VO to make on Nigerian applicants after coming on here and see how people are given encouragements upon misrepresentation of facts in their apps?

And the funniest thing is the same person might still end up being the person that would help the guy out but you have rather called him out.

I'm not the most sincere type of person but let's always be conscious of the implications of whatever advices or
words we said on here. That's why sometimes l decide that some advices are better given via pm and insist that the person pm me.

@thesoj
Well done bro. I know certainly well that's not even a new thing to you. God bless.

This is a file that tells you the EXACT REASON for your denial. The VO briefly tells you what exactly he saw wrong in your application.

You can get someone who is in Canada to order it for you at a price.

If Canada is ur only aim...Simon Fraser University or Victoria University charges around 5480cad ..excluding application fee of around 147 to 156 cad...but u also need toefl or ielts for both schools...their 2017 entry application is still open...

.From my personal statistics of student I helped in processing admission,Science courses, language courses, and education management are quite easy...MBA is usually kinda wierd cos lots of peeps applying for MBA usually are not in the management line...but the truth of the matter is ur undergraduate course /CGPA and personal statement will speak a lot for you in wateva course u apply for.

But also try and make sure ur undergrad study course is very related to ur post grad application it helps like garri and cold water in a hot Sunday afternoon...if not u need strong work experience relevant related to the Masters or pdg course u r applying for so u don't waste application fee, it's usually unrefundable.

I made an application for a dude that graduated with BSC in chemistry and has been teaching mathematics for 7yrs...he wanted an MBA so as to expose him to more senior managemnt job opportunities, weda he decides to come back to naija or not....I advice him to chose an MSC in chemistry, environmental management ..or education or juvenile management since he was dealing with Student and lecturin...but he refused....
eventually portsmouth University denied him on grounds that his background knowledge isn't gonna equip him for his choice of course neither is his work experience relevant.
pls brother , I need ur help.can you recommend schools in Canada where I can do course based masters for Sept 2017 n that does not require GMAT or GRE.My Bsc is marketing.GPA is 4.40...tnx 4 all ur helps
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by thesoj: 3:45pm On Jan 11, 2017
@dreeyy and @abmendozer have both provided fantastic responses and I'll add a bit more.

Let me start by asking you a few questions:
Do you like that the processing time for Lagos is 17 weeks? I'm guessing you would say "no".
Do you like that the visa denial rate for Nigerian candidates is very high compared to those of other countries? I'm guessing you would say "no".
Do you like that Nigerian applicants are considered potentially fraudulent and untruthful by most western embassies? I'm guessing you would say "no".

If so, then why are you being an apologist for someone who boldly lied about a significant issue on his application and then comes here authoritatively demanding help to fix his ill-advised lie? Note that my response to him wasn't focused on his counterproductive lie, it was focused on the demanding tone in how he expressed his displeasure at not having gotten a response.

That you make me out to be a villain for pointing this out is truly beyond me.

I understand that this is an anonymous forum so anyone can say anything while hiding behind monikers, but I really didn't expect a comment like yours.

In any case, I love the helpful spirit of this thread. This is why I am happy to be a part of it, particularly since there are not many Nigerian spaces (online or physical) within which the tone is almost consistently helpful and positive as it is here. But then once in a while comments like yours remind me that the helpfulness, camaraderie, and overall peacefulness on this thread are indeed fragile.

bro, I know how it feels when one's application is refused. But trust me it is not enuf to hurriedly put in another application because you feel time is running out. I am in your shoes cos I was also refused trv (masters) six months ago on the ground of insufficient funds... Why not first defer your admission to maybe fall 2017, apply for gcms to know the exact view of the vo, then apply later for trv. You can contact me on is2bee@yahoo.com to rub minds. Pls don't rush your application. It is not enough to just apply for the sake of it. You have to put in an application with a good chance of success

Hello Guy
I had my first degree in Mech Eng , Nigeria, and masters in Europe in 2006 in Mech Eng and worked in UK till 2010 when I returned to Nigeria
I have applied for Canada Entry Visa but got refused on the ground of Purpose of Visit
Asset and Finance.
Had my brother as Sponsor
Closing Baalnce 5m
Personal bal 800k
Age 42
My Admission is PGD and I didn't indicate that I had masters before.
I order my GCM,From GCM, they were talking about brother fund is small, personal fund small, my proposed study program not inline with my previous study Mec Eng(Undergraduate study). They also said in the gcm that I haven't had study abroad, and return to show that i will really come back after studies
I am applying for masters in Mech Eng to reapply in 2017.
Friends are advising my to put in my old rich passport and indicate my previous study even though i didn't put it in previous application.
Pls gurus in the house advise a brother, will I be barned if I put in new information, wouldn't they see it as hiding of vital information and barn me for 5 years
Thanks for your anticipated replies
Cheers
