@kindredspirit, sorry about the slip in the bathroom. Yes, i know how it feels when it seems as if you are not making improvements in your phsyique cum muscle development. From your post, i was able to deduce that you try to workout five times in a week. That is too much for a beginner. 3 times per week and on alternate days is ideal. I hope you have a programme you are following, it is very neccessary. You talk about ur tight work schedules. Well, it is quite understandable but i must say kudos to you. It shows you are indeed determined and resilient. One thing is this, no matter how busy one is, there must always be time to indulge in things he or she loves doing. So like i will always say "create time". Also try to work on your diet because i know people with tight work schedules rarely eat nutritous food. They mostly eat "food on the go" or "junk foods". So please eat right.

As for the shoulder injury it will heal. Just minimize the range of movements that cause you severe pain to the shoulder.

A month plus is too short to throw in the towel. Provided you are doing everything right, you will definitely build muscles.
Patience is indeed an important virtue for building muscles.

Howdy Bro?

I'm making slow, discouraging progress with my training. Give or take, it's like a month and a half plus now. I would love my gains to be faster, but it's a real drag having to lose sessions because of work. Sometimes, one feels like throwing in the Towel. You know how it is when you put in two days of hardwork at the gym and lose three days after due to work commitments. You train one day, and lose another day etc etc. On and on....

How would someone achieve their bodybuilding / fitness goals that way? Especially the 9-5 workers. Your advise / thoughts.

Two weeks ago or more, I slipped and fell while bathing. I landed on my left shoulder. It was a minor fall. However, when I went a-lifting weight that evening, I felt some sharp pain on the shoulder.

Obviously, I put some strain on the sore shoulder. I however only feel the pain when I'm lifting / pushing Barbells over my head to target the chests / shoulders . No pain at all when curling dumbells or other routines that target the biceps / triceps that don't require over -the -head lifting.

I rested the shoulder for some days and massaged it with neurogesic balm daily. I thought everything was cool and I went to the gym some four days later. I tried to lift and the pain was still there. My gym instructor is saying I should work through the pain on the shoulder, that it'll stabilize but I reckon otherwise.

First of all, fitness sore is different from injury, if yu have injury on any part of yur body, it is advisable to stay away from the gym till yu are totally healed, but if the sore is as a result of lifting as a beginner, yu have to continue lifting till it masters yu.

Also, one tin we dnt understand is that there is power in our thoughts just as it is on our tongue, so whatever it is yu believe is wats gonna work fr yu. My point ere is, stop saying discouraging words to yourself, no matter how lazy you've bn in the gym for the past one month, I'm very sure there has Bn at least a little improvement in yur physique, why dnt yu stop looking at how fast yu want yur progress to be and focus on how to make dose little improvements even better?!

My brother, dere is no short cut to getting ribbed, yu have to be very PATIENT...

As Regardz yur busy schedule, if yu still have time to work out at least 3times a week, it's still very okay, even twice is okay if it's HIT. Just make sure you eat well and sleep well on dose days you outta gym.. Cheers!!

Remember, stay away from the gym for now if you still feeling the shoulder injury as a result of the slip.

Hello my "men of iron" how is the pumping going? I hope you guys are keeping it real. Christmas is fast approaching and a lots of foods and drinks would be flying all around. So much body-fats would be accumulating, muscle-mass may be reduced but it is still possible to keep yourself lean and shredded for the season.
Re: Pristine Muscles by PRISTINEMUSCLES: 8:20pm On Dec 09, 2016
The beach would be filled with loads of ladies and spotting a pumped pecs as well as a ripped abs with a bulging biceps and quads would not be a bad idea.
So i will be giving us tips to look lean and mean in the midst of our nigerian "fattening" foods.

Being ripped and mean all year round without popping steroid pills or the likes can be achieved naturally. Although one needs to be disciplined, consistent and a smart-worker.

1. Up/increase your workout exercises. Imagine doing 4 sets of bench press, with less than a minute between each sets and switch to do some high intensity cardios with so little time to rest. That is what is called workout. The amount of fats that can be burnt is unimaginable.

2. Watch your diets. The major reason behind body fat accumulation is netgain of calories. When one consumes more calories than is expended then body-fat tends to increase. But the muscles is a biological fat-burner in that even at rest, the muscles keep on using the fats as fuels. Always eat clean, rich sources of protein such as beans, chicken and turkey breasts, fish, rabbit meat, snails, eggwhite(so important). Brown rice and oats can come in as good carbs. Even yam and sweet potatoes are not left out.
Fruits and vegetables should also be taken. These help to keep one's belly full, so as to avoid unneccessary "eating".

3. Stay off alcoholic beverages, carbonated drinks, beer and the likes. Or reduce their consumption to the barest minimum.

4. Increase water intake. Water is such a potent detoxifier. It also aids in the removal of bodyfats.
Re: Pristine Muscles by PRISTINEMUSCLES: 8:52pm On Dec 09, 2016
Finally, avoid the sedentary lifestyle. There is tendency for one to be confined to a place during this season. In as much as you workout, one must always be physically active.

You want MUSCLES
You have to get IT.
You already have IT
Then you must nurture, develop, grow and maintain IT.
For in the fullness of time, would you know the tremendous impact made on your body.
We have only one physical body and it is up to us to mould it into anything we desire.

Happy new year to all my iron warriors. The "liftmas" was indeed enjoyable. The holidays are over and it is time to go hard on those muscles.
I already drafted my exercise plans for the year. I have written down my goals(3 months period) for the year.
This is indeed very important as it gives one a sense of focus and direction. Although strength-training should be a lifestyle, it is always neccessary to set goals also.
Re: Pristine Muscles by PRISTINEMUSCLES: 11:34pm On Jan 02, 2017
One of my exercise goals for the year is too pack more slabs of muscles on my quads, to make them more beefy and strong, not forgetting my calf muscles.
Also i want to make my v-shape more pronounced by working on my lats.

To achieve these goals are quite straightforward.

Do compound and isolation exercises that target these muscles.
The weight i am going to make use are gonna be "damn" heavy.
My diet is gonna increase in quantity and quality.

These are just a scratch on the surface.
Re: Pristine Muscles by PRISTINEMUSCLES: 11:38pm On Jan 02, 2017
So my fellow iron warriors, if you have not drafted your exercise plans for the year please DO.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ONCE AGAIN.

LIFT TO BE FIT.
NO PAIN NO GAIN.

Howdy pristinemuscles! Happy New Year to you. I've been off the grid. Thanks so much for the advise, tips and encouragement in 2016. You're one awesome individual.

Well, my bodybuilding journey didn't pan out so well last year. I started like a house on fire but the constraints of work put paid to all that. My work took me out of base and therefore away from the gym. However, I am pleased at the gains, however little. I'm particularly pleased at how bodybuilding and fitness has now become like a way of life for me. Previously, I used to scoff at niggas in my 'hood who I saw, all the time, hitting the gyms or pumping Irons at their backyards. Who would have I'd be bitten by the bug too. It is a very enjoyable activity.

One of them beefy youths in my area gave me valuable advise about consistency when I'm away from base. Dude told me that in nearly EVERY neighborhood in Nigeria wherever work took me, I would find boys lifting weights with locally-fabricated stuff. He advised that I should just seek them out anywhere I found myself and join them. And he was dead right! So, that's how I'm going to get weight lifting sojourn back on track, regardless of whether I'm away from base.

A glorious New Year to you, once more.

Well supplements is good but i always advice that eating balanced diets is sufficient for muscle gain provided you exercise well, rest and sleep well.
You could start with whey protein and creatine.

Muscles love oxygen, looking at the beautiful sky is also a motivation, I'm hitting a plateau, what do I do? I don't have cash for whey protein and creatine presently, how do I see results on a budget

Yeah, the plateau phase are usually inevitable. As the muscles try to adapt to the stimulations given to it via exercises.
To navigate the phase well will require a conscious and tactical effort.
You will need to tweak your exercises a little more. Go for more variations of the exercises as well as more volumes(sets and reps).

As for the supplements, you could stick to your daily meals, jus make sure you are feeding ur muscles with right kind of nutrients.

The forex is really hard on these stuffs. At gnc ikeja, the price is quite higher now.

Mehn, apart from the forex trading things are very hard, even eating high quality meals garnished with protein is a problem, I'm tired of eggs and can't wait for a whey protein powder,

Another issue, my abs are not coming out and seems to still be enveloped with subcutaneous fat despite training and leading a healthy lifestyle, what do I do

Well, i dnt knw how slim you are buh i am sure i was slimmer than you when i started working out.

I used creatine powder for the 1st 6 months. I stopped using it cos i now have time to eat and sleep well..

So, there is nothing bad in using protein supplements, Infact its advisable that all body builders use it.

Just as PRISTINEMUSCLES says, the two most rated protein supplements are whey and creatine.

Good luck!!

I decided to start using creatine again last year November, I went to health plus and i was told creatine is now 6k. Considering the current Nigeria predicament, i had to honourably leave the store that day..

So Bros, if yur pocket is just as heavy as mine , I ll advice you start taking lots of banana, eat correct foods and sleep well.

Bros, try banana, I eat banana before and after work out every workout day.

As regards your abs, if you not seeing results, you definitely aren't putting in much effort. Do series of abs programmes and make sure you hold in your tummy in any program yu wanna do, be it presses, curls, even when you running. These are best ways to get those abs ripped
