Recent Developments at Eko Atlantic City(Photos)

Nigeria is not all about sad news. Some good things are also ongoing within the country especially with regard to development of the Eko Atlantic City in Lagos State Nigeria. I read in @punchng.com this morning that 14 bridges linking the different parts of the city have been completed between 2014 and December 2016, and that projects within the city era being completed on schedule.

The promoters and developers also said they have big news for Nigerians and the World concerning developments within the city later this year. We can't wait for the good news.

Eko o no baje o!

God bless Lagos State.

God bless Nigeria.

Are the ordinary Nigerians going to benefit in this projects? We have seen where Lagos state government build roads with taxes and erect toll gates to be collecting levies from motorists who ply that route. We have also seen where Lagos state government build houses for low income earners and asked them to pay times 5 of the actual price. This properties belong to tinubu. The people who pay taxes to Lagos state t build this properties are not going to benefit from them.

Everyone in society, irrespective of societal class, benefits from infrastructural development.

Building of eko atlantic will span several decades, and through this period, it will employ people from all levels of society from the construction executives to the labourers and down to the mama-puts who would sell food to construction workers. Also upon completion, the entire island district would still need to be maintained, and this will also employ people from the top to bottom of society.

Furthermore, upon completion, when the people at the highest echelon of society move into the posh new business district, they vacate their currently posh V.I offices and residence and then, someone (who probably couldn't afford it previously) ends up occupying the vacant offices and residences in V.I. The chain of upward movement eventually gets to reach everyone in the society and this is exactly the way capitalist societies grow.
