Griffon:

[s]You must be a miserable son of a lousy c0ck-sucking midget for you to ever try to shut me up.[/s]
Shut Up.

Of course, deploying varying formations is part of managerial evolution but adapting to different styles is actually what makes you a complete manager.
Adapting to a different style?
Are you fücking kidding me?

Pep should leave a proven philosophy that has given him success and adapt to a league that is known all over the world for its substandard football.? undecided

Pep might have been rolling out different formations over the years but the tiki-taka has always been his go-to approach. Ball retention, building from the back, closing down the opponent and defending from upfield. Not to mention he would need expensive technically adept players to actualise that. So what is new, if not the same old boring style.
His boring style equates success.Which is why he won't change it because Griffon,34,from Nairaland thinks it is boring.

Which begs the questions, cant he adapt? Cant he evolve? Is he limited?
Nigga..you don't want him to adapt..You want him to leave what he is known for and play airball like the other 19teams of the Premier league.

The likes of Fergie, Carlo, Jose, Conte et al switched styles when it really mattered. Winning by either dominating play or cesseding possession. By going gung-ho or being ultra-defensive.
All those coaches you listed did not coach a dominant team that will be remembered for ages.

Ceding possession to an opponent is not sustainable and Pep knows this.

His style has given him success..If it hadn't,then a bulk of what you are saying would make sense.

These managers challenged themselves. They were into the business of continous study. They have an answer for every situation and their philosophy is simple, to win.
Pep's philosophy is more than that.

Win and also allow the fans enjoy each match they watch.

FFS we are talking about a student of Johann Cruyff. grin

A coach who was appointed as Barcelona coach and the first thing he said in his press conference was "Hold on,we are going for a ride"

Unless it is a crime to ask, I am going to ask, Is Pep limited?
Nope..He is smart.

I would expect an obnoxious nitwit to reply in these very lines. Just like Pep, you are predictable.

Pep has been 'successful' with his boring philosophy no doubt, but can we atleast break those 'successes' down, atleast for the records.

At Barcelona

At the Nou camp, he inherited one of the best midfield off all-time, comfortably able to rely on the genius of Xavi and brilliance of Iniesta through-out his four-year stay. A base that was put in place by Frank Rijkaard.

He also had a certain demi-god in Messi to build the team around.

I wouldn't say he doesn't deserve the accolades for making them a team to reckon upon but one easily see that his philosophy was made to look golden by the geniuses at Barca at the time.

You'll agree with me that any shrewd manager could have had a nice ride with that Barcelona team.

Which gives rise to this one question, could have Pep being successful at Barcelona if he had a less talented team at his disposal?

That question would now take us to Bayern. . .

At Bayern

In some ways, taking over from Juup Heynckes at Bayern represented both the dream n' nightmare scenario for any manager in 2013.

The man has just left behind a framework of success but did so by winning a treble - a near impossible feat to top.

Pep was appointed to accomplish a simple task; to strengthen the winning stability of the team. Given the absence of genuine competition, winning the domestic title was obviously expected by the fans, it is like their birthright. So the main focus was to tighten Bayern's European dominance.

Did he achieve that? Well, he failed miserably at many attempts that he even pondered a sabbatical.

At this point, you'd agree with me that Pep failed at Bayern b'cos he couldn't accomplish his primary task.

Reality check. Why did he fail at Bayern?

1. Because there were no Barca geniuses to make his tiki-taka crap look golden.

And

2. In absence of Barca geniuses, Pep never evolved rather he stuck with the same style that was not working anymore. One would think switching from one formation to another was him making a clever move then but no, that was just Pep showing us the varying versions of his useless tiki-taka.

Over the two legs against Athletico that year, Fraudiola was found out by the grit of Simeone. Not to mention the evisceration he received in the hands of Real and Barcelona.

Just this season, he was pummeled 4nil by Everton - City's worst defeat in many years. Just this season, he's trailing Chelsea by double figure points and is apparently out of the title race despite being in possession of the best team in the league. All these are highlighting his lack of pragmatism, all these are asking one question, is your idol limited?

So when you try to claim Pep's philosophy is a success, be sure you have a solid premise to back that up.

This Griffon is a very funny guy!

You initially used formations as your benchmark for "evolving", how could you? That was very amateurish! Who doesn't know that Pep is the Master of formations?

When you were rightly called out, you started shifting grounds grin

Sometimes you guys need to chill and ask yourselves what exactly you want Pep to evolve to! Do you really want him to become a Tony Pulis?
You want to crucify him because he doesn't want to adapt to Aguero's game! Is he the only Coach that have refused to adapt to important players? What did Mourinho do to Mata? What did Ancelloti do to Ozil?

It’s a bit sad that The Special One continues to work so very hard to turn Chelsea fans against himself. He will no doubt tell you that his jabs are aimed at the team and not the fans, but that’s not a distinction that’s easy to make from our position.

“Chelsea are very good defensive team. They defend very well and with lots of players and I think in
this situation a very defensive team wins the title with counter-attack goals and set-pieces goals, so I don't think they will let it slip but football is football.”

It would be a pity if Mourinho taints his own Chelsea legacy with self-serving snipes at Conte’s achievements. Seems inevitable though.

FROM A FRIEND WHO IS A JUVENTUS FAN- You have to acknowledge some things:
1. Don't listen to Arrigo Sacchi, he has long history of saying stupid things and being jelous of success of other coaches.
2. Conte's Juventus was not that strong personally as you think, there was a lack of power in attack for the most of the time he was there, there was no Higuain, Dybala but Mirko Vucininc, Alessandro Matri and Quagliarella. Carlos Tevez was there in the last season with Morata who was adapting.
3. Juve had very limited finances at that time and not much space to move in transfer market, today's Juventus have at least three times bigger budget that it was when Conte started working in Turin. Now they can spend 150-200M euro, that was not the case 5 years ago by far.
4. Another problem of his Juventus was lack of expirience in Europe, Max Allegri in his first season reached UCL final and there was a lot of Conte's work in that success.
5. Don't be afraid about collapse in league this season, after two losses in a row Conte will start to kill people in a dressing room, that simply is not going to happen with this coach.
6. I know what I'm saying, I'm long time Juventus supporter and I can tell all Chelsea fans that you're blessed with one of the greatest managers in this generation.

....And someone was/is saying Conte failed in UCL with Juventus.

Tell us what Conte who was knocked out of the groups by Galatasaray a success?

Or how did the same Juventus who cant qualify past Galatasaray make the final a season later under Allegri

Success is like a pregnancy it cant be hidden

Was Conte a CL success at Juventus?

Pep made 3 CL semi with Bayern. He failed
Conte was getting knocked out of groups stage by Galatasaray. He didnt fail
