These students are not ready to learn. Imagine the small amount of money they are protesting over? Do they think university education is free everywhere like their Roach-ass made it? They can sit at home and we will see whose ox is gored. Rubbish!!!

I know a lot of people will hate me for saying this, but it has to be said.

Them students should just end the protest, and go home, and pay the fees.

A few years ago...ASUU went on a series of strikes to get extra funding for the universities. Government initially promised them N3 trillion in extra funding(that was in 2009), then by 2013..the money no gree come...so GEJ reduced it to N1trillion , payable over 5 years.

ASUU took the deal...because Nigerians, like the students above, were tired of strikes.

As a result....fee increases became inevitable.

If the students want to pay N40000 per session, then they must also agree to have half their parent's salaries taken in the form of taxes so that we can keep fees low. Which, by the way, is what they do in Denmark...where education is free.

There is no such thing as free education. Even if corruption ends in Nigeria, even if PMB goes, even if GEJ comes back, even if we get Biafra, oduduwa, arewa, middle belt country, even if we diversify, .....education, the quality stuff....is not free.

Sure , your parents had it good....when student numbers were so low, government could get away with funding education wholescale. Now, they cannot....with student numbers at 2million and counting nationwide.

Guy before you speak/ comment allow reason take control. Futo pays one of the highest fees among Federal University of Technology schools. Secondly, Rochas has nothing to do with FUTO. Get it straight. Futo charge high school fees but their amenities are poor. You need to be in Futo to see what folks go through.

And you slept in poor quality hostels, your labs are not fully equipped, and your lecturers cannot perform ground breaking research....because that money was too low.

I can even go one better. Fees for me was N2000 , accommodation N120. Meanwhile, our labs were using ancient lab equipment, I shared one room with 5 other students(now it is as high as 13 students), our library had out of date books, and our faculty buildings were falling apart.

Your universities need money to compete with the world universities. And how can they compete...when their budget is about $10million per annum.....while USA universites get budgets of $250million and higher per annum

Better face the reality.Either you pay higher....or the rich kids with their foreign degrees will out-compete you for jobs.

And you think that N40000 is enough to pay for better facilities?.

I mean....that is less than $100 dollars per annum. (US universities pay 20000 and above).

That isn't enough to give good enough amenities. And before you shout government.....funding for education needs to rise above N5 trillion per annum before you can pay your low fees, and have good amenities. This year's budget was N8trillion.

This is crazy, This is similar to budget padding. How can students be paying for health insurance, municipal charges when they do not get it?
The SUG also get huge amount of money just to pay students we all came to school to learn just because they represent us.
Abeg, make them reduce all those things. Are students the ones paying for the services rendered by the staff unions?
