Benin Vs Warri - Which Place Is Better For Relocation? by PrettyCindy(f): 6:37pm On Jan 16, 2013
Hey all, please i need to know which of the cities mentioned in my topic is better for a lady to relocate to. Am from Delta, currently live in Delta but need to relocate from where i am to somewhere else. I have Benin and Warri in mind.

For those who live in either city, is the cost of living high?

I have alot of questions to ask but let me wait till i get a reply or two.

i presently live in warri, i'm planning on relocating to asaba, its not cos warri is a bad place but its due to personal reasons. I have never lived in benin but its more like my backyard; i visit her alot.

In relocating you have to consider many things like the nature of your job/business, cost of living, your social life(optional though), culture of the intended location and so on... little i know is that cost of living in warri is costlier than benin, depending on ur job/business, warri is an oil city so if ur job/business is on that line, you may want to consider warri, but also benin is a business city too, peolple sometimes travel from warri to benin to buy goods in whole sale to retail in warri. both cities are like twin cities but i think benin has a more social life than warri.
the only thing i dislike in benin is the red earth lipsrsealed

Masterplecer has said it all... I have live in Benin all my life though, I will be relocating to Cyprus next week but, in terms of the following;
Commercial city
Low cost of living
Cheap house rentage depend on the area
I will recommend Benin city. If you have any question, don't hesitate to asked.

Benin city is a capital city and it has all the advantages in administrative aspect. It is at least 4 times bigger than Warri and has various districts and environs of choices.
I'm very well connected to the city and I recommend it.

I stay in Ikpoba hill and interms of light, Ikpoba hill is divided into two. Benin Agbor road use Guiness Nig PLC power station and the Light is not encouraging compare to Aduwawa that have almost close to constant light which uses NIPP. Sapele road has close to constant light but, it's espensive. In general, light is Ok. When considering location, I can recommend the following:
Sapele rd
Adesuwa
Air port rd
King square
New Benin
Ikpoba hill
Ekiosa
Ugbowo
Uselu
Textile Mill road
And so on.. You can get a huge population in the above area.

Benin city used to be one of the safest cities in Nigeria before the advent of kidnapping for ransom. I was born, bred and buttered in Benin; and I would recommend it to anyone who who is looking for a peaceful and relatively safe place to live.

Well i was born and breed in Warri, but schooled in benin, (Benin na oyo on your own) back to warri now fully, (FORGET THOSE THINGS YOU HEAR ON MEDIA)Warri a is nice place to live in, full of opportunities, all u need is understand the the environment things around, and it has english as the general known language (if u sabi pigin u correct be dat). In terms of your job i think you have an edge in the oil city because its growing by the day socially and otherwise so expect more, but socially if your the type that like fun hmmm you will still catch it though..but trust me once u get to know your way you will love the place. then i will advice you in the issue of apartment be very conscious and smart, there are a lot of funny agents out there. whish u goodluck. We de wait you

I will recommend Benin to you, OP.

Reasons being that the cost of living is lower in Benin than in Warri and I think the light or electric supply situation is better; at least it was better when I was there and I stayed mostly in Ugbowo.

Also transport problems and cost is lower in Benin.
The roads are better and motorcycles are still working so the terrible go-slow you see in Warri because of the bad roads and ban on motorcycles is not there.
Re: Benin Vs Warri - Which Place Is Better For Relocation? by bedford101(m): 3:21pm On Jan 20, 2013
Speaking of Road, transportation and light then Warri is the place, the only thing that is not there is motorcycle and it makes the city looks calm and mature no rowdiness..

@Bedford and Fellis, thanks.

Bedford, can you please give me the price range for a 2bedroom flat with kitchen and convinience.

@fellis, a friend said BDPA area is very good especially for my kind of business and in case the job am seeking for works out. Do you know what the present light situation is like in that area and the cost of renting a flat? The person who told me about it doesnt live there anymore.

BDPAis not so good when it comes to light matters because plenty students live there and as a result there is a lot of demand on the transformer so the area is always having electric power problems.
Besides I heard that there are many robbers and cultists in the place.

Whoa! You scared me there. Robbers and cultist I already had enough of them when i was in AAU.
I did an interview with UBTH late last year and they are yet to release list of successful applicants. Am being positive it will work out. This is where the issue of proximity comes in. I have a little child and would want to live in an area close to the hospital. Any ideas?

@OP u can get a good 2bedroom for 18k/month, would suggest areas like Jakpa Rd, Refinary Rd, Airport axis and Ogunu Rd those are some good areas i know. light is not an issue, the only issue is getting the aprtment first..goodluck

You can live in Uwasota or Osasogie. These places are close to UBTH. Osasogie is closer; about 10 minutes walk to the hospital depending on what part of the place your house is located. The only problem is that they also face light problems because of the many students living there.
Uwasota is better in terms of light but it is farther from UBTH than Osasogie.

On a lighter side a Word of caution, remember the areas mentioned above in Benin are student dominated. If you are moving with your spouse, hold am tight if he is the randy type.

Good luck with the move anyway.

It depends on the transport line you are taking. Some are up to and above 2000 naira and some are between 1000 and 2000.

I don't really know what you mean by regular bus, different transport lines charge different rates. The cost from Lagos to Delta is around 1500 to 2500. From Lagos to Bayelsa is around 1800 to 2500 depending on what line you take.
