Landlords will bypass this law by accepting only yearly tenants.
Also on the agreement they will demand that it is the tenants that offer the 2 or 3 years. This will be signed by both party.
If the house sweet you and you get the money, you go cooperate.

Depends.... in the UK it is circa 5-6weeks rent as deposit and a one month rent upfront.
Last month of your tenancy, you either dont pay or you pay and get a refund of your deposit back!

Í thought Maruwa did similar thing in Lagos years ago, what was the end result. The landlord will simply tells you to live in the house built by senators and vacate his own property.

Any landlord could refuse any tenant for any reason, thereby giving the prospective tenants the impression that unless they pay for multiple years they would lose out on the property. Scenario 2: Landlords would just continue to increase rent to justify the loss in income, there's no law stopping landlords from increasing rent yearly from 20% to as much as 60% in some areas.

Of course! It has already shown in Lagos, landlords would say they accept one year's rent but would silently show preferential treatment to the prospective tenant that pays for multiple years.
