Before the Jesus story was written, there has been wars and rumours of wars. Julius Cease, Jumong, Alexander the Great, Antiochus etc have all fought wars hundreds of years before the jesus story was written. So it is a simple case of using the past things to predict the future things. E.g I can easily say, Biafra will not be together with Nigeria in the future. This is a simple case of de-amalgamation which has always been taking place all over the world, is still taking place and will continue to take place. I can also say, Syria and Israel will fight war. This is something more certain because I have heard them fighting wars in the immediate past and I don't think their war will stop soon. So that prophecy the jesus character was used to voice out isn't a divine prophecy at all. It is just a technique of using the past happenings to predict the future happening.
