nah. those speakers are expensive. those small DJing speakers on amazon I mean. if I wanna get speakers, I'll prefer renting whenever I get gigs, then saving up to buy a slave, mixer, speakers and all the other sound equipment...

the shipping fee sef just complete like two days ago after saving for 2-3 weeks so I no get handle to buy any extra stuff

I am loving this. I use 8 too but looking for how to get traktor pro, the serato I downloaded needs a controller to work. You mean ur own song refixes?

Traktor Pro is a very "involved" software (Native Instruments, makes of Traktor is a respected audio firm).

If you're used to virtual DJ, Serato, Torque, Cue etc, Traktor might be quite a leap. The learning curve may be steep.

That traktor pro is usually a trial version. I tried to download it too but just left it on discovering most of d downloads on google are trial versions.

Lol. My song refixes are just like rearrangement of songs... Just rearranging the verses. Setting cues at different points to allow the crowd enjoy the music. They aren't as dope as all those other established DJ refixes tho. They have far more equipment than I do...

In the international music scene right now, Traktor is slowly edging out Rane (Serato) though Serato still holds sway in America. Europe belongs to Traktor.

It depends for slow songs like that. Songs that have BPMs of 83.00 - 112.00 in my experience shldnt be increased to more than 4.6 percent of their pitch.see the pitch below the BPM near the turntable in the image.

Its best for like to party not to be increased to more than 97.00 or at the very worst, 98.00

In my opinion 98 is way too fast. Certain songs like the one mentioned are meant to be played at their original tempo or with just slight increment. That was the intent of the artist while recording the song.

Learn the art. Get your hands on a pioneer or Denon CDJ (if you want to really be a purist and go all the way, get a turntable while you're at it). Learn how to "manually" sync jams, work your pitch, tempo and stuff. No disrespect to the strictly laptop DJs out there (got nothing but love for y'all) but nothing gives you more respect and swag than when you're with your lappy and your controller or DVS Set up. The crowd knows that like Quest, you mean business!

Make sure you "test" those speakers properly before going live. That's the hazard with renting equipment, you never know what you're getting. Could be a dead amp, blown tweeters, burnt speaker cables etc. Nothing destroys a DJ's rep like a failed gig due to equipment failure.

Always exhaustively test your rented gear before starting out.

If you need more exposure and possibly experience, come to Lagos (if you got game) but, if you need the mullah, Ogun may be better (less competition, though I've not been there to verify this).

There are a lot of cats who are just spinning for fun in Lagos, they ain't professional, ain't making a living off the art hence they can go for gigs at ridiculously low prices thus messing up the game for the professionals. You catch my drift right?

True sha.... Depending on where you stay, you can still easily access the main parts of Lagos from Ipaja.

If you're in Lagos, depending on where you reside (mainland or island) there are lots of DJs with equipment you could approach in a bid to learn the noble art.

Find a "joint" that has full DJ equipment and intern with the residential DJ there. Don't go to joints that have DJs that use only a laptop with VDJ connected to a two or three channel Numark or American Audio mixer (nothing wrong with the mixers BTW, just that they are not performance or club movers and seeing you want to learn the art, you need to know the tight professional equipment also) connected to an amp. If you do, you'll never become a professional DJ like Jatt, Neptune, Obi or Kentalky.

lool baba. I understand where you're coming from. being a purist and all I mean. The day I discovered syncing manually by playing cued up music on the second deck was the day I started practicing manual syncing on my VDJ. I can proudly say I have never operated a turntable, cdj or controller before because I've never had access to one for a long period of while but I CAN SYNC ALMOST AS GOOD AS ANY OTHER TURNTABLIST. it's all about practice. ezzylee can try to learn it on his VDJ 8. even the CDJ/turntable makes it easy for one to sync manually. all you need to do is scratch with the crossfader still closed and move the crossfader to half immediately the first beat of the 1st deck kicks in. or one can use the cue. even controllers and CDJs have sync buttons as well.

besides I think a controller will be better. buying two CDJs plus having to get a mixer can't really seem cool. one might have to settle for one of those old school mixers with only the basic knobs. all it'll do is get you the scratching experience while missing out on other DJing effects like the slicer, loop roll and all. a quality mixer is very expensive. I checked on jumia. even more expensive than controllers themselves. ain't worth it unless you have a lot of start up money.

Again, doff your hat to DJs that have these controllers and/or CDJs. A Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus can go as high as 1.2-1.3 million for a pair (at the height of the dollar wahala) while a Denon MCX8000 controller was going for 800-850,000. These are the cream of the crop though as there are cheaper products you can get. When your skills and customer base has broadened enough you can go for those "egbons" I mentioned (that is if they don't release tighter ones by then...you may not even need the functionality in them. 90% of Nigerian DJs don't use more than 30% of the functions embedded in these electronic pieces of art and it is these wonder functions that make them prohibitively expensive...my opinion please ).

Just start small anyway you can. Hook up with a good DJ and master the art then like the other chap, you may save up to get your own gear.

I understand sir. The mullah you're hinting on can be gotten in dope volumes if I move to ijebu. I've lived near there before in my 100l and I know I can make a lot if money in ijebu. But I don't just want money.... I want experience. I want that fame and rep that comes with playing in Lagos. And am ready to bring my game on.

I've talked to a few people in lag... Getting popular in your area while performing good gigs will lead to increase in patronage and more expensive gigs for you. A popular street DJ in a single area can get 50-100k per gig so am not so bothered about rookies taking my jobs as far as I can prove myself. Besides the competition will be good... Will teach one to up one's game
