Is there any way you can help me out?

@Ikenna351. I wish to commend you for all the good works. As a matter of fact, you encouraged me to join this forum and this is my first post. I bought my peugeot 406 98 model not long ago and I already have issues with it which I hope you can be of help to me. there is this particular "K" symbol that appears on the dashboard each time I start the engine which prevents the vehicle from accelerating until it disappears. I really feel bad because I cannot move each time start the engine until few minutes later. pls. do help me out.

Hi Ikenna,
I'm considering buying a 407 but i sought opinion of few auto mechanics and they all but discouraged me, saying that if i want a Peugeot, a 406 would be the best bet.

Please, is there any objective reason why 406 would be preferred over 407?

Year and type of engine?
When last did you service stepper moto of da car?
If da car is not equipped with motorized throttle then you can also service throttle body.

If changing the steppermotor doesnt fix it, theres this small sensor opposite the radiator fan, its a bit low, dat'll most likely be the problem.

Don't limit your life on people opinions. 406 is not better than 508, yet others are telling you to remain stuck in 406. 406 remains one of the best cars Peugeot ever produced. It's just one of the best. There are lots of good lions after 406.

Keep other people's opinions aside and live the life you came to this physical life to experience. Their personal experiences has nothing to do with you, unless you prefer to experience theirs by focusing on their opinions.

Timing Belts

Failure to replace a timing belt in due time can lead to costly engine damage.
The recommended replacement intervalls for Peugeot timing belts are as follows.

All 4 cylinder petrol engines:   80 000 km or 4 years.

Diesel engines engines XUD (not HDI):   80 000 km or 4 years.

All HDi engines without particle filter:   120 000 km or 6 years

All HDi engines with particle filter:   180 000 km mlor 9 years

V6 ES9J4 and ES9J4S:   120 000 km or 6 years.

V6 ES9JA:   180 000 km or 9 years

ITS BETTER TO CHANGE THE TIMING BELT AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE,
UNLESS U CAN SEE THE SERVICE HISORY FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER, (IF ITS OYIBO)

The VIN you decoded doesn't exist on any Peugeot 406 produced by Peugeot, by mere looking at the VIN.

The VIN is incorrect and the site that gave you that information. Understand that Peugeot is not Japanese, Asian, American or German. So, understand French cars or Peugeot first to know how or where to source for information on them.

Wow it surprises me to see how some people can be so cock sure of themselves even when they are not@Ikenna, no doubt you are a professional when it comes to Peugeot cars but sorry to say that you arrogant. Your arrogance is what blindfolds you. The computerglobal guy is a professional at Vin checks undoubtedly and his services are on point as always. Computerglobal is the only person to provide European cars Vin check on Nairaland as far as i am concerned. Computerglobal does European cars vin check on nairaland which no one does. you should have done your research by checking his profile before trying crucify him. The guy said he provides European cars Vin check and French cars are in theEuropean continent and you are ranting about<Asian,Japanese,German blah blah blah> or is your own France in Asia or America. Also try to keep your emotions in check and try to be civil. wink wink wink
