Good Day People,

I'm New here and i need to have a detailed understanding of what the process is about before applying for the express entry program.

I am 21 years old and a Lawyer by profession. My overall IELTS result was 8.5 and i have a spouse/partner (25 years). She is a biochemist.

We both graduated about the same time and got a low paying job. The economic situation in Nigeria is a reason for this.

We both have two years of work experience with a Net income of 50k naira monthly each, averaging about 600k Naira a year per person. However we plan to show we have financial sustenance of CAD 15k through our Fixed Deposit Certificate. Oh I didn't mention that my cousin is a permanent resident in canada and this was how he processed his (The Fixed Deposit Certificate).

By calculation, our CRS score is about 455 (Maybe Above). My questions are:

1. Is it better i apply alone or with my spouse? For married couples, your spouse must be included in your application even if the person is not accompanying you initially when you plan to land. Every member of a family, i.e., husband, wife and their kids must be captured in the application, one person is the primary applicant and the rest are the dependents. Any one not captured in the application as at submission time up till the successful processing of the application and issuance of PR visa can never be added on later. The primary applicant even risks revoke of the PR status if this is the case

2. Would it be a problem on how our salary doesn't translate to what we have in the fixed deposit? Is my monthly salary too little? Is it a justification for issuance or denial? By asking this question, you already know the answer sir. The total yearly family income and the number of years experience don`t jive for that amount of fixed deposit. This is sincere opinion, not in any way meant to belittle your desire or discourage you. By the time the average person substracts your cost of living from your income, that amount for FD for a family of 2 is not plausible. You will have to think of a suitable explanation for the FD, not using your income as the source alone.

3. Is the fixed deposit the best way to go about this? or we get a notarized gift deed? Your second option for a portion of the POF is better. You need to be seen to have something to bring to the table too then the rest can be added to make the FD

4. What is the Best advise you have for us on this?

Hi, see above. Hope it makes sense.

No I don't, the best thing is to go there or send someone, with something in the pocket oh... grin

I checked WES this morning and found status has been updated to "documents received...". Lasu actually did do the needful, quite impressive for a Nigerian school has i applied just about three weeks ago. Hopefully, they will respond in record time when verification comes.
That visit with a loaded pocket has been postponed, hopeful for total cancellation grin

Congrats 40manlappy, more great news loading.

Don't worry about the speaking test at all.Just take it like you are having a hearty conversation with your friend.i believe you will be fine as it's just a basic interaction/discussion of less than or about 15mins with the interview on a familiar topic.

Thanks a lot. Let me keep my skepticism to rest

Congrats @Babachi.

Good morning house.

Please quick question.

I got an email to send my passport saying my visa is ready.

I am confused as to where to send the passport! Is it VSF Global in Lagos? If yes, how do I go about their fees. The fees page on their website seems a little complicated.

Furthermore, my family status has not changed yet the letter says I have to submit updated family information using form IMM8. Where do I get this form and should I fill it manually and attach to envelop containing my passport?

Lastly, the passport photograph requires a professional photograph with stamp and address. For this Naija so, in PHC precisely, were can one get such services. I usually used the normal road side guys but I give them the specifications and make sure they follow it to the latter.

Thanks for your kind responses and TGIF!
