I hope ICAN will replicate what they did in May 2016 diet this time around by releasing results on time. Is it a bad idea if we get our results this week?

I think by now, ICAN should have gotten to a level where by they tell us the specific date our exam results will come out. For those waiting for one or two papers to qualify, this shall be our time to celebrate.

standard deviation clause is useful nt 'noise' as believed by many.it implies dat quantity prodused/sold culd nt b used directly bt multiply it by either 1.3 or 0.7.it is either increse or decrese by 30% and also to form part of assumption
HMM, that question if I can still recollect you have to use APV to get your cost of capital, this will even give you clue to part B of the question. Its a past question and you will find same in all these SFM texts you have around.

APV? Definitely not. APV is only appropriate when a new investment doesn't alter the investor's overall business risk, but the financial risk. The investment in question altered both business and financial risk of the company. Besides, the question already stipulated the cost of capital to use for appraisal.

Funny how I had more issue with Section C in SFM, than even the Section A question. If you are very familiar with ACCA questions on investment appraisal and business valuation, you should not have much issue with that question.

Standard deviation should just be ignored. It's a measure of risk, not probability. To take effect of such risk, a risk adjusted cost of capital should be determined. However, the question already gave the suitable cost of capital for appraisal so we just assumed that's the risk adjusted cost of capital.

AAA wasn't so great for me either as I wasn't familiar with ISA 700 (Revised). I only knew the one in the study text which is now outdated.

I believe God's favour is ours, and we shall all have cause to jubilate when results are released.
god bless u sir.....that No 1 question for AAA na die.....i just dey gii them the normal one wey dey study pack weda outdated or not...no time!finally na God go do am

Though I have passed AAA, but with what I have observed recently, it's like AAA is becoming the control paper at final level. They test ISAs and NSAs which most students are not very familiar with.

May God grant us unexpected success

That was the main reason I finished the study pack thrice, so it was really easy for me. My biggest fear is Case Study. I didn't read Porter's Value chain model. I had to use my little knowledge of MGE, but I mixed it up sha. And the second requirement was kinda confusing for me. I don't wanna fail Case Study because it is like reading all the entire courses ...

Porters' Value Chain Model have been previously tested in November 2015 Case Study exam. The second requirement is based on financial reporting implication of requirement A. It means carrying out detailed and comprehensive financial analysis which includes: financial ratio analysis, financial data analysis, etc

Risk Management issues as well

Good luck!

Yes I did. you need to carry out financial ratio analysis also financial data analysis

Very little financial ratios to determine although one could do little financial data analysis on revenue, inventories and provisions. The requirement, mostly, was to discuss the financial implications of issues identified, and not to show their financial effects. For example, it was obvious the company's brand was impaired, and even the goodwill. Financial implications for these could be discussed regarding the need to test for impairment, and what any resulting impairment loss could do the the company's financial performance and position in the current year, but one cannot just assume the financial effects to reflect in financial ratio analysis.

Just an opinion though.

The financial data analysis is the most important of the requirements for financial reporting implications,an information was provided and it was dedicated to that effect in the scenario. The ratio analysis is also equally important and other items in the notes to the f/s.

That is what you will use because the new biz changes the capital structure, you find almost similar question in Akinsulire or Omolehinwa. If you dont get the cost capital given in second part of the question then the cost of capital you got is wrong. The reason why you were not asked to use the cost of capital you got is because a lot of people might get it wrong and consequently appriase the project wrongly hence the reason you were given that cost of capital.
