The payment for the cost of devices to be issued to N-Power

The Federal Government has taken over the responsibility for the
remittance of N900 million monthly for the cost of the devices to be
issued to 200,000 N-Power volunteers nationwide.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation, Mr Afolabi
Imoukhuede, disclosed this on Friday in Owerri during an interactive
session between the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team of N-Power
and volunteers in Imo.
The presidential aide explained that the gesture was an additional
incentive to the volunteer to enable them to maximise the benefits of the
scheme in two years.
“The monthly device credit that we extended to each of you is N4,500 and
it will cost the federal government N900 million.
“We plan to deduct the cost from your N30,000 monthly stipends but the
President and Vice President decided that we enter into Asset Finance
understanding with Bank of Industry (BOI) on your behalf.
“The money does not have any impact on your stipend but the tools are
for your personal development,’’ he stated.
Imoukhuede said that the distribution of the first batch of the devices
would commence on July 15, but urged those not captured to wait for their
turns as they would receive messages when to visit the distribution
centres.
He restated his distaste for the conduct of volunteers who perpetually
absented themselves from work and explained that the scheme “is a full-
time volunteer work’’ for beneficiaries.
Accordingly, the presidential aide announced that anyone who abuses the
purpose of the scheme will be severely punished.
He reminded the volunteers that the scheme was a fulfillment of the
campaign promise of President Muhammadu Buhari to “dent the
unemployment scare in the country’’.
“N-Power is promise made and promise kept; we have deployed 200,000
graduates and looking forward to deployment of another 300,000 while
non-graduate redeployment will be done from July ending,’’
N-power Lagos shared a Page.

N-power Lagos
Today, I visited the N-Power Situation Room.
Our Youth are the most important and dynamic segment of our population. The path to tremendous economic growth and national prosperity is attainable if the energies of our young people are harnessed and channeled appropriately.
The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari introduced N-Power as a large-scale skills development programme to ensure that our young citizens get employed.
In 2016, the Federal Government undertook the largest post-tertiary recruitment exercise in Africa when it engaged 200,000 young Nigerians in the N-Power Volunteer Corps.
N-Power ties into the Federal Government’s social and economic reform priorities. Our 2017-2020 development plan- the Nigeria Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (NERGP) identifies and prioritises the large-scale development of relevant skills for young citizens as a key driver of job creation and economic growth. By the investment in our youth through the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), the Federal Government is playing a crucial role in bolstering the human capital of the nation’s workforce.
More motivating for me is to hear the personal testimonies of our young participants in N-Power. I’ve heard about restored dignity just as families have been lifted by the contribution our young citizens are now able to make. The walls around are filled with these inspiring stories, just as every local government in Nigeria has felt the impact of N-Power. In partnership with State Governments, these 200,000 young Nigerians were deployed to public primary schools, primary healthcare centres and in agriculture development project centres in all the Local Government Areas in Nigeria. Our strategy has been to use the large volunteer workforce to address some of the perennial problems that beset our nation- unmanned classrooms due to low teacher to pupil ratio in public primary schools; high rate of preventable diseases; lack of science and knowledge to bolster agriculture production.
In addition, N-Power is also a tool for diversifying the economy. Particularly, N-Power Agro provides not only the means to apply knowledge and science to our farming practices, but also to gather data for effective planning.
This year, N-Power is recruiting an additional 300,000 to bring the total number 500,000. The application process has seen well over 2 million applicants. We must assure everyone once again, that just as the first batch, the selection process will be transparent, fair and objective. The hallmark of the N-Power process, as indeed all other Social Investments Programmes, has been run to be devoid of manipulation and undue influence to reach the common Nigerians who really need help.
It gives me great pleasure to activate the delivery process for the N-Power Devices. Our administration is determined to utilise technology to drive some of our public sector needs. Effective large scale training for 500,000 young Nigerians would have been impossible without technology. With the devices, we are able to provide training on 3 fronts. First, build capacity to undertake primary assignments, secondly, build capacity to make young people employable and thirdly, build capacity around exit skills to prepare them for more economic endeavours.
Also, working with the Bank of Industry, we have been able to stimulate demand for tablets and content that has been supplied by Nigerian vendors.
In all, I will like to urge the beneficiaries who will receive these devices to be reflective. You must take your learning seriously. Also, you must appreciate and protect this privilege, as there are still many of our fellow compatriots who need hope, encouragement and help in their own lives. You must keep being confident to reaffirm within your community that change is achievable if we all commit to doing our very best. This is why when some thought it impossible; our government grasped the responsibility to invest in as many of our young people as possible. Now is the time to join in this conviction that Nigeria can change for the go[truncated by WhatsApp]

AN APPRECIATION AND PRAYER FOR MR. PRESIDENT, MUHAMMADU BUHARI FROM NPOWER BENEFICIARIES.
We want to use this medium to express our gratitude to Mr. President Muhammadu Buhari and the acting President Professor Yemi Oshinbajo for this scintillating initiative, the first of it kind in Nigeria because of the benefits attached to this program which has excellently makes the Npower program and SIP as a whole unique from all other federal government empowerment program in the past.
It is note worthy to recognized the fact that this administration is sincere in drastically reducing unemployment rate in Nigeria and we really hopeful it will be more than just a program but will lead to future employability.
Mr. President, we the entire beneficiaries of Npower sincerely wish you speedy recovery and we are very eager to have you back in the country. We are just short of words to show our gratitude to you. You have put smile on the faces of youth in this country. You came onboard with a unique and sincere vision to reduce poverty and unemployment in the country, initially, when you made these promises, many Nigerians believed its same old story from same bunch of leaders that had governed this country in the past, making all sort of promises from their lips and when they get there, they turn to chameleon in sheep clothing enriching their pocket rather than doing the will of the people. No wonder the country was almost grounded to halt during their time.
However, your time has really made us believe there is hope for the youth of this county and we re ready to live by it. We want to emulate a president with high level of integrity, a president whose yes is yes and no is no, a president who is humble to the core and accommodate everyone regardless of who or what they are, a president whose pedigree can not be undermine judging by the way he carries himself, a president of the people, by the people and for the people. We are proud of you sir and we sincerely hope you will join us soon and finish the mandate for which we voted you for. We love our president Muhammadu Buhari and our prayer is that God will perfect what he started in your life now and beyond.
If you believe this and you are Npower beneficiaries, kindly comment by typing amen, amin as you it pleases you.

LATEST FROM MR AFOLABI, THE SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO MR PRESIDENT ON JOB CREATION VIA FACEBOOK
GENERAL: Mr. Afolabi encouraged everyone to think outside the box, especially Nteach volunteers who instead of staying at home doing nothing because it's holiday period. They should engage themselves in earning extra income. He also admonished them to learn new skills to develop themselves, if possible join their Nagro counterpart to farm and learn something on fish farming and so on.
DEVICE COLLECTION: He first apologized over the delay on device collection. He said collection will start hopefully by the end of this week with Lagos and Abuja to expect message for their device collection. By next week more states will be involve in collection of the device. He however, said only batch A will collect their device and it will run till August ending.
PAYMENT: Mr. Afolabi apologized to beneficiaries using first bank who are yet to receive their July stipend. He said it was technical fault and they are currently working on it. He also said for those that are yet to receive since the inception of this program that they are doing their best. According to him, last week, they sent 2000 volunteers involved for payment, but some of them were rejected because their BVN have not been link to their account. He encouraged those involved to go to their bank and do the needful else, they will continue to have payment issue.
BACKLOGS: Mr. Afolabi said they are currently processing backlogs for beneficiaries involved. As soon as this is done, they will receive their backlogs.
2017 ASSESSMENT TEST: He said some have complained they can't login to take their test. According to him, if you are in that category, it means your BVN and your name doesn't match and so your application ends. He also said only N-TAX have started their verification exercise. Lastly, he said they are having meeting with ministry of finance, after the meeting, they will update volunteers via their various social media platforms.
