The point I am trying to make is that I want to know if I would be awarded a visa, even with the issues around my passport. Thanks @Lagosismyhome

have a question..if the course you doing for msc doesn't require u write GRE must u write it

Some say it does help for visa interview but i seen many successful transcript with no GRE and when VO asked , response it was no a requirement for the school..... so i would say to answer your question NO.. just know how to explain it well ..

That been said i say No if you are not requiring funding. But if you need funding then a good GRE score might help

Rules are meant to be followed. The rules states 6 months so try to best to work towards that . There really should be no question on yes or no

That been said

Yes someone here posted a transcript where the passport was less than 6 months. The visa interview was successful so it possible however the VO said the actual visa cannot be issued on less than 6 months so gave him a paper and that he should mail the new passport with a longer expiration and then the visa will be issued

Long Post Alert ooooooooo
Alihamdulilahi Robil Alamin,
I hope somebody someday somewhere out there get inspired by my post, It should most definitely be long but I will just go ahead and summary, I could probably write my own book ”ON BECOMING” like Toke. From the sigh of relief from Wizkid to TerryG frowning, Annie Macaulay dejection, the list is probably endless. I have actually seen a whole bunch aside from the dark male CGI officer inside the interview room directing applicants to interview cubicle and the pregnant CGI officer that checks document outside pre-interview, she is always pregnant, both been working at the Lagos consulate for over 5years. I have been to the embassy everyday of the week except for public holidays and weekends of course. From the days of sitting to get called by the white number slip to the recent rowdy and tiring standing, from 23k to 64k, my piece is about hope, desire, aspiration, dream and the harsh reality check all wrapped in one.
It all started in 011, fresh outta unilag and hoping to conquer the world, partner with UNESCO on short term programs and have a side project like Tony Elumelu’s heirs holdings, 6years on I am writing this. I wrote GRE and TOEFL in February 012 amidst the whole oil subsidy protest, passed enough to get a full 2yrs ride from Murray state university and 70% from western Michigan state University 10 months later. My first visa interview was like yesterday, listening to Rick Dees weekly top 40 every weekend on Cool fm, Hova and yeez dropped ‘Watch tha throne’, Drake dropped Take care and everybody’s favorite ‘Rolling in the Deep’ by Adele, Jackie chan did a funny job on the remix in his movie production Skip trace by the way.
Extremely confident and on my wave, the interview lasted almost 8minutes and you know the magic words “you are not qualified for visa at this time” and so the series started. I have applied for visa 15times in this life (yes 15times).US F1(9 times), US B1/B2 (once), Canada study visa (thrice), South Africa visit visa (twice), you will say ordinary South Africa, I will say ask ojcrown (she was refused 7 times). I can say I am one of the chairman on the board of trustee of the people who say “I am a silent follower/ reader”
From 2012-2014, I applied for F1 5times, same blue paper, same white building,I got a white refusal paper onetime sef. I decided to give Canada a shot armed with my impressive grade in Finance, I got admission from Mohawk and Lambton college respectively in 6days. Oya Canada bring visa, first and second attempt was refused in 1 and 3months respectively (You have not convinced the visa officer that you will return after studies; purpose of visit, length of proposed stay, family ties in country of residence and Canada and Travel history), their GCSM note doesn’t help cause it is generic, what is happening now, oya let get travel history, South Africa here we come, jumped from US student visa thread to Canada student visa thread now I am surfing South Africa Visa thread. Justwise na OGA. Read applications in Abuja has fast processing time, road trip with GIGM from Iyana-Ipaja , fourth week of 2016, got to Abuja late, didn’t book a hotel so had to call a taxi and was going around looking for one around 1am,got dispatched 3weeks later ’ Document not convincing’ even with paid hotel booking, paid tour bus ticket, a very well detailed letter of intent and 900k balance. DHL man that came to delivery package start him own advise’ bro you still dey dis travel matter, I don come drop 4 US admission letter give you now, SA even do yanga refuse u, shey you no go drop dis traveling wahala, I smile and said ok.
I got like 3weeks break from work in 015 and said to myself since US won’t give me F1, let us go try B1/B2, go and meditate at prospect park. Booked a hotel via HRS, GTB charge straight, but why now, this tin is pay on arrival. 9am appointment set, hotel in New York set, got to my turn at the consulate and this ensued;
VO- Good morning
Me-Good morning
VO- can I have your passport
I passed it and he started typing, typed for like a minute and said why are you going to the US
Me- I have a short break at work and will like to go to New York for sightseeing and tourism. Said ok, typed for another 2 and said I am sorry you are not eligible for visa at this time. Just one question, this one strong ooooo, let try Canada again since SA no drop visit visa, US no drop B1/B2.I had paid tuition to Mohawk College prior to my first two refusals, lemme transfer to Lambton College since it is well accredited too and dem get my proposed course of study , transferred over 1.4m for first semester and applied again. Got dispatched 5months later with insufficient funds and purpose of visit, dis people don reduce am from 4 to 2, didn’t even bother to request for GCSM this time.
Then December 2016 came, a friend called one hot afternoon and was screaming on the other end of the line” Drizzy dem don give me, Drizzy dem don give me”, give you what I queried “ visa oooo, visa oo” which country I asked, he said US, but wait oooo, you didn’t tell me you applied again, although okelola had traveled before to SA twice, he had 3 refusal from the US for a B1/B2 application and 1 from Canada embassy , he had gotten it on his second attempt in December, wired tuition via flywire and just waiting to say goodbye. How did this happen, I had organize GMAT and GRE classes for this people o, oh I forgot to mention one of us got F1 in 2012 and he no dey gree reply messages since then ,we had tons of argument on who was going to get a PhD first back in school, now I am FAZE alone. This travel history issue is giving me headache, let me try SA again since na Abuja I go b4, Lagos dispatched approximately one month later with the same story. Okelola visa approval had triggered something that afternoon, he reminded me of our PhD conversation of 012, but the last one question interview threw me off balance and I wanted to send a mail to the consulate to inquire about my status cause I had surf the net and the 214b INA Act don dey get another meaning to me( I no do any misrepresentation, didn't fill anything fraudulent even when na agent, a family friend filled my first two applications, I tripled check b4 submitting so what the fuzz about, make dis people put me on administrative processing sef and confirm all my info ).Applied for admission and visa for my immediate younger brother in January and he got it on his second attempt even with 30k salary, I earn a reasonable fair salary but dem no gree give me.
Shey I go dey write GMAT or GRE again to get funding ontop brain wey don dey close small small, younger bro no even write anything and I get admission and visa for am in a month , make I apply the school sef, my admission came in 7days, same DHL man with a wrong date of birth, had to change it to avoid stories that touches the brain, waited another 7 days for a new one. I wasn’t expectant this time but I was determined to never give up(in Kanu's Voice) and go in one more one more like Desmond Doss, cut to the chase I applied 4 times in one month( June/July 2017) and I have my visa now, don’t even know how to celebrate cuz I don burn steam ,from the UNESCO dream, planned finance support projects all in my head “ 2 international passport with no travel history, 3 SEVIS Fee payment , 5 different admission letter ,10 visa fee payment, 10 DS 160 and of course 10 different VOs, I thank Allah, it has been written ”
For those that have been refused, you only stop when you stop ,those asking what are my chances,na only God know, for those asking what went wrong with their interview, you can never be prepared enough what I said this time wasn’t different from what I have been saying since 012, I was asked at one point this month during the interview why I kept applying, in her words ‘’ I can see you have applied before and you keep coming why do you really want to go to the US’’ I was honest in my response but still got the famous blue paper . I had 8 of those blue papers already. The VO that gave me a last week denied a couple before me, the man listed the UK, SA, Dubai, Tanzania, Egypt and Tunisia as his travel history.
To all those holding this travel section down from justwise, lagosismyhome(World people), imprexious, gboyegaD, Walespring, thesoj, Team16, Jawa, samtol4, omobendel24, nefertitram, keneking, femiaction, samuelUMOH, staggerlee, 9jastar, Seyewest, siga, demoah(came through for my Canada application) kaptainAfrika, Twood(Mr drop it like it's hot, pick it up when it is cold), femi312, fairheart, Austinpee4, jnyuwa02(dis bro got his on the 10th attempt also) sirRiddy, slimy2005, fredoricko, suxes2005, mevisbeek(naija version;sent his SOP sample and guide to me for canny application), dotcomnamename, chrisviral(funny dude),Chapecoense,teepee4Him,texrem( mock interview guru), DeeTus, ladyguinivere of life and the rest of all of yo, I found another family in you all. My message is crystal and simple ‘’ I LOVE YOU", tears don dey drop 4 my eyes again.
NB- Na to get Masters degree in US/Canny don dey my head since my Lagoon Front days, any other tin na counterfeit. Got MBA admission from UI sef in February but the tin no do body well.
Excuse my typos and my french all together, typed all dis stuck in Lasgidi traffic back from work, rain been dropping non stop all day plus I didn't drop my transcript cuz I have 10 of those.
Cheers.

I was in your shoes some weeks ago. Please wait for three business days then apply again on the fourth day so you don't pay another N64k. You will use same Ds160 barcode and update it on the appointment page or you refill a new DS160 form if the expected date of entering the US doesn't elapse when you book another appointment. Feel free to hit me up if you need more clarification.

Thanks @mbagwu. Already hit you up.

My transcripts (Delayed the GOD APPROVED my Visa Yesterday) Still that ProfOjah’s friend
Delayed 29th June 6:30 am Lagos
Me: good morning ma,
VO: pass me your documents (I obliged)
Vo: why are you going to the US
Me: I am going to the US for my masters degree in chemistry
Vo: (looks at me) why this school?
Me: MTSU has a new science building worth $147 million opened in 2014, this will enable me to conduct my research with state of the art facilities.
Vo: why chemistry and not physics or other sciences
Me: I loved chemistry since high school, studied chemistry as an undergraduate and would like to continue studying chemistry
Vo: (looks at me like this one is not serious) then said your visa can not be granted this time (then passed my documents and the coloured paper)
Me: smiled and walked out immediately (was even smiling on my way to the car park and police officers were saying “congratulation how far come wash am for us”). But when i got home I couldn’t eat nor sleep was just replaying the event on my head.
I paid another payment the same day and got 18th July as new appointment the following day

God Approved it Yesterday 6:30 am Lagos

To God be all the glory. His mercy, grace and favour was sufficient for us all. And a big thanks to ProfOjah my padi. He really took my matter personal giving me 90% assurance of success after introducing me to the awesome forum and evaluating my new response to questions.
Fast forward to today 18th July
Vo: good morning sir how re you?
Me: good morning sir am fine thank you.
Vo: why are you going to US
Me: am going for my masters degree in chemistry with a concentration in nanotechnology at the Middle Tennessee State University Murfreesboro
Vo: why this course
Me: its in-line with my career goal which is to become a university professor, and a masters degree in chemistry and a research knowledge of nanotechnology is a requirement for me to pick up a lecturing job at my alma mata and according to national agency for science and engineering infrastructure there (cuts in)
Vo: what is this nanotechnology?
Me : nanotechnology is the creation and utilization of materials, systems and device through the control of matter on nanometer length (cuts in)
Vo: give me details about this research what will you be doing?
Me: (i come happy) i gave him details about how we going to be manipulating carbon surfaces to make chemical sensors which can be used to detect young set of food spoilage and detection of cancer cells in human body. How carbon nanotube can destroy cancer cells and the procedure has been suggested for cancer treatment and more research is needed to be sure the carbon nanotubes don’t destroy normal health cells while fighting the cancer cells. (i was talking fast that i noticed i mixed some terms up but he was enjoying me)
Vo: you had your undergraduate from University of Benin?
Me: I had my undergraduate from the University of Lagos (I attacked him like what are you saying)
Vo: who is sponsoring you?
Me: I got full graduate assistantship which comes with full tuition waiver and monthly stipends and the remaining personal expenses will be covered by my brother
Vo: (nodding head and went through my i20 to confirm) is your brother in the US
Me: yes
Vo: what state?
Me: mentioned it
Vo: do you apply to other schools and how many gave admission?
Me: mention the schools and said i choose MTSU because i got assistantship
Vo: Yes of-course (smiling and nodding head)
Vo: are you married, do you have kids?
Me: NO, NO
Vo: (when through my passport) have you travelled out of the country before?
Me: no, i have got no reason until now
Vo: (typed for like almost one straight minutes)
Me: repeating in my mind “Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit”
Vo: your visa will be ready in four days, you will get a text or email bla blab la.........
Me: collected the white paper (golden sceptre), my i20 n sevis. Thank you sir. Didn’t know when I added God bless you.

You guys are doing a great job here. I read through the 40 pages of complied delayed transcripts and over 100 pages of complied Approved transcripts. It really helped me. And my dear ProfOjah brushed up my responses during the mock interview we held.
Advice: You don’t need any agent to help you go through the process from beginning to finish. Did everything myself until I got stock during the interview part, but thanks to God, ProfOjah, the gurus here and everyone that shared their transcripts.

Great to see another chemist coming on board. Nano research is very interesting and promising especially when you focus on the materials chemistry side, semi conductors (quantum dots) et al. You can land yourself a well-paid job with the likes of Intel, Tesla and other companies.
Chemical sensor research and nanomedicine research is a great deal of a Master's research. I think you're gonna have a great time working with state of the art equipment and facilities for research.

America only gives Nigerians a 2 year visa, Ghanaians get a 5 year visa.
All these things are foreign policies. Nigeria gives Americans a year visa that's why they pay us back.
I'm curious which country gave your guy 10 years visa

When you talk of grace, your mistake gonna make sense in the presence of any VO. The grace we carry are different bro. These are my interview questions and answers. No addition, no subtraction.
No one is talking about Grace here.
He only pointed out the fact that your response wasn't consistent.
Just like me saying I don't have anyone in the US but my uncle would pick me up at the airport.
