Increase in the rick of you getting robbed/kidnapped( most likely by the security operatives.
Anywhere you go peope tax you

Hi nairalanders please I am currently about taking a decision regarding my future. I am a 26 years old single guy. I currently work in a company where I earn between 400-500k monthly( salary, allowance and personal hustling)... Now the issue is that I am contemplating on travelling to Canada to study pharmacy with the intention of staying there permanently after school or do a professional MBA here in Nigeria with the aim of growing through the ranks in the pharmaceutical industry. Please I need your contributions...

NB; cost of obtaining a pharmacy degree in Canada is about 10M...Should I invest the money in a business?

It is alright. But please, let me know when you leave because I need a job of that amount.

Because he stands a better chance of securing a job and accelerating his career than as a pharmacist. Knowing what I know today, I'd have gone for an MBA.

I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about. Unless Canada has a bunch of jobs for MBA graduates, this absolutely does not apply in the US.

Only if you are a show off, make the people believe ur same as them & you can sleep on the street with no problem, if police stop you he go collect d usaual #50 instead of 1k. when you go market you can buy groceries as cheaply as other people.

But BEHAVE like a big man & get ready to pay ×5 price of every single thing you intend to buy.

And the OP is a classic example of silver spoon, he never struggled for the job he landed that's why he wont feel anything once he ditches it.

well, whatever, wetin consign me grin am super satisfied with my life, sleep well, eat well, play video games & annoy people on socail media once or twice a day
So let me get this. Im not a show off kinda guy O. But is it a crime for someone to flaunt his/her wealth?
If a man becomes rich he should pretend to be poor. It doesnt make sense nah

Because, I pay taxes mostly when Nigerians come here they are shocked that their money is cut when paid. That tells you how much they pay in taxes in Nigeria. In fact if they ask Nigerians to present original tax clearance to get a visa 70% will be denied.

Don't tell me why things work here, I know why they work and am not paying taxes in Lagos cause when they saw my tax papers they think am already paying too much abroad I know this cause I was not charged taxes when I was getting my land papers.

Am saying this cause 90 % of those complaining about Nigeria do not pay taxes even though they don't miss their tithes.

Travelling to Canada to study pharmacy .... fine... can always get student visa ... and I guess you have access to the necessary funds. Now you intend to stay there permanently.... most likely work as a pharmacist. Did you for a moment consider you have to get work permit? If you got the degree or whatever.... and decide to return and practice as Plan B.... do you really think what you learn would be applicable ? My advise to you is to look well before you leap..... spend time doing research ... this is the 21st century with information at your fingertips.... leave the follow your heart mentality for those still way back in the 1900's.

You get mind! Why not do an MBA at Lagos Business School part time?
You never value what you have until........

My guy, you've said it all.

I was once in OPs shoes. I quickly dived abroad, only to get there found out that, it's not as green as people paint it o! I ran back but it was too late to go back to the job because I resigned before leaving. However, God was merciful and helped me to get another govt placement (without pushing any buttons). It's not been easy though but better than nothing. Lesson learned: sometimes, you dont value what you have until you lose it.

My advise: Op, you can travel out but don't resign your job! Take a study leave. In this way, you have a plan B: should you finish your schooling and oyibo man begins to play you the racist card.

Exactly the mentality I talked about earlier. "Think you can or think you can't either way you are right". I guess the over 80% of MBA graduates in the report that had offers were lying.
Nigerians need to believe in themselves and strive to be the best they can be.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Nop you should fit in & not think you are better than others just because u are richer than them. Constantly flaunting ur wealth intimidates people around, draws scammers closer & criminals attention.

Some rich abok# will have billions of naira in his account but you will see him mingling with his people, sitting & chatting in dsame location. while some young dude who has less than 10 million naira will be forming am above everybody, throwing money & showing off.

It's not worth spending all that money from your pocket unless you wanna get a financial aid or a loan and after you get the degree what about paper to work.Don't ever quit a good job to travel abroad, coz abroad isn't heaven. You might end up losing everything and regretting for the rest of your life.

You see some of these things you speak of is evidence of backward thinking.
Is it wrong for a man who can afford comfort to choose to live in that comfort?
If people are intimidated by his wealth then maybe its their fault for having a low-self esteem and being intimidated. For me I dont think anyone can intimidate me because he has more than me . I can be put off by bad behaviour but not because someone is enjoying his life esp where thay person is enjoying the fruits of his hard work.

Guy, I'll advise you go for it. You are already becoming a man, you are not getting younger either. Ask yourself, can i invest 10million naira in Nigeria economy as of today and still earn make adequate profit with the high cost of living in Nigeria. I guess your answer is as good as mine. May be you don't know that Its your kind of reputable profession that they looking for in countries like Canada, meaning you'll definitely get a job if that is your fear. Its only if you are lazy to study hard and work hard to come of with good grades then would i say there might be issues. I had a friend who traveled to Canada for a Ms.c in finance related course for 1 year and came out with a first class. This same friend immediately was employed in the same school as a part time lecturer and also working in a reputable organization today. You can even come back to Nigeria to work as an Expatriate if you so wish. To be frank, i'm also planning to take such a decision too but still saving for it. It is only people who has not traveled abroad before or the lazy ones that are over there would say things are hard abroad. Don't mind them, they are enemy of progress like some leaders of our great country Nigeria.

Coincidentally, my monthly take home also falls within the same range with yours. Thus, not looking for Job for now.
Friend, Its time to take the bull by the horn and move on.

i saw this late...There is no guarantee that you would pass the pharmacy evaluation exam for international graduate in Canada. It's one of the hardest professional exams in Canada. Think am well o.

Also..if you are thinking of starting your bachlors or pharmD all over again..make sure you get an admission first, and the 10million would probably only last 2 years or max 3 years.
