This is very true.
Sometimes when I look at beggars with lots of children by their sides. .some of them have twins with other kids. .I've seen a beggar with two sets of twins. . .it makes me wonder if one is supposed to pity them. .how can you be this poor begging for money and still Hot you enough to keep giving birth to more children. .while regular people have few kids and know when to hold themselves back from producing more. .poor people on the other hand keep bringing children who they can't guarantee their upbringing, education. .some of these parents hardly even care. .they just keep producing more.

No single senator can get anything passed into law by him or herself, unless agreement is forthcoming from a majority of his or her Senate colleagues, and even then approval must also be obtained from both the House of Representatives and the President. In addition, "boosting employment" isn't a simple matter of just passing a bill, otherwise there would be no employment anywhere in the world. In properly functioning economies, most jobs are created by the private sector, and all governments can (or should) do is provide the framework to allow the private sector to work properly. This concept only seems strange to Nigerians because of nearly 50 years of failed state-led, oil-centric economic policies.

Finally, if you understood simple economics (or at least basic arithmetic) you'd see that Ben Bruce did in fact directly address the question of job creation in making his original statement. No country's citizens can ever grow richer if their population is growing faster than their national income, which is one of the main problems that has plagued Nigeria since independence. Even when the occasional competent and honest politician or civil servant does something helpful in terms of infrastructure, that person's efforts are soon undone by people breeding like rats and overwhelming whatever new facilities are put in place. The ignoramuses on here who repeatedly mention China or America as examples of why family planning isn't needed in Nigeria are simply talking out of their assholes, as China has had a strict 1-child policy in place since at least 1979, while the USA's population growth rate would actually be zero without immigration; all of Europe as well as Asian countries like Japan and South Korea are also witnessing zero or even negative population growth. All of this is unsurprising, as fewer children means more money to educate each of them, and it also means the percentage of the population of employable age rises.

If a certain part of the country insists on seeing something as sensible as family planning as a conspiracy, and expects to be rewarded for its irresponsibility with ever more political power, while the other part of the country invests heavily in education the fewer children it has, then its obvious that the time is fast approaching when either the human rabbits stop putting out children they can't afford to raise, or the two halves of the country must simply split up, so each part can pursue its own preferred development trajectory. There is simply no way Nigeria as a whole will ever move forward under the status quo.

We are having kids we do not have the financial ability to look after.....

We are brewing loads of problems ahead in the future...... When Oil is no longer required or the world starts using full electric cars, how would we sustain this population boom + corruption + infrastructure decay + bad governance + lack of quantitative education etc etc etc

No where in the world is a large population an advantage,
it is either being actively discouraged or their is a campaign
to reduce it.

The world's resources is finite, while baby making is not,
it is only rational to reduce birth rates.

It is no accident that high fertility rate is highly correlated with extreme
poverty.

A poor man gives birth to 9 children he can't cater for, he send the

I like the north very Much.. But the fact that they give birth like bacteria is quite disturbing, and more disturbing is the fact that many graduate from the north still come up with an ostensibly irrational and stupid explanation to their binary fission reproductive style.
if we continue to grow at this rate with the limited resources at our disposal, we may all someday go for cannibalism as the only remedy or nature will have to do it works of unleashing myriads of disasters just to clean the earth of the homo sapiens and give chance to different species.
I've observed that the poor having nothing else to do indulge more in sex both as recreational and a means of keeping themselves busy and as such they give birth to more children who they can't cater for than the rich.

As at 1960 Nigerian's population was barely 45 million,
30years later in 1991 it doubled 90 million, 55 years later in 2016 it quadrupled to 180 million. Currently Nigerians population is nearly 200million. If we continue with this madness called high rate of natality in which the north is apparently taking the lead, it will become so difficult for our kids in the next 50 to survive in this country.

What will you rather the idle poor man be doing? It's the failure of Government in engaging him that gives him the time and space to keep reproducing.
Look and countries like Japan and a few others where their citizens are so busy the government has to grant them incentives to get married.
The point still remains Nigeria's problems are not large population induced, they are borne out of leadership failure.

Back in the University, we took an awareness tour to Oil damaged Ogoni in Bayelsa.
We met many of the impoverished community people. We met one man who is a fisher man. You can tell from the look on his face that he is poor beyond poverty. But then he has 11 children and a pregnant wife. I almost collapsed when I find out this. As if not enough, one of his daughter about age of 16/17 is already a parent too. She was put into family way by a neighbor who later ran away. They were all living in one rickety wooden house. I shed tears.

At that moment I knew that no matter how well planned our economic policies are, no matter how fast the pedal upon which our economy is riding... With these kind of careless and mindless child bearing, poverty and hunger will continue to be our permanent companion.

We wrote a proposition on this matter to the then House of Rep Member Hon. Ali Ahmad. But the proposition was dismissed upon religious ground and archaic tradions.
The proposition was seeking to lobby for a law on ONE CHILD POLICY las did in China, though its a modify policy one which to suit Nigerian clime. Our proposition was rejected because they fear it will not be popular among our illiterate people the vast majority of whom voted for them.

Till now, I believe this is the right thing to do. It is #TheRightSense .
Come 2019 the Right sense will prevail

I really don't think corruption can be rooted out from a normal human society.. Corruption exists everywhere. Where there is good, there must also be bad.

If you were given a slot for a job unmerited and you know within yourself u aren't fit for that job, would you take it?

well, corruption is not exactly the issue here. The issue here is educating the populace that they don't need to give birth to children they cannot cater for. Measures should be taken to encourage birth control, make it free for people and even enforce it on the people.

We can't sit back and let what will happen, to happen.
Drastic steps need to be taken now before things get even messier than it is now.

Population is a big problem in Nigeria, your resources aren't going round, your infrastructure is under enormous pressure, the jobs aint going round, the schools are not enough yet you don't see the hands of an uncontrolled population in all these?
