You watched in confusion when the gadget fell from his hands. It did not just happen. You told yourself in the wake of your deepest fear. You turned and looked at Jerry- your five year old cousin whose naughty act a second ago ,made you loose focus- He smiled as if he had no idea what he had done. You raised a hand up and left a brutal slap to his shoulders.
You left him in a pool of tears- crying his eyes out -and dashed into the living room, then through the corridor, in and out from your room , trousers on, through the living room, through the veranda and out the door.



Pacing down the staircase from the third floor , You had your arms on your head. The magnitude of havoc that Jerry had caused made you detest him. You blamed yourself for keeping a blind eye when he picked up the gadget.

You jumped stairs, almost flew over a woman as she came up while carrying a basin of fried cassava extracts .

' Hey! Careful . Bros'

' Sorry
Did you just say sorry?

Well you could not recall .

Yet.

Yet , you raced down to the compound and met some children dusting off debris from your gadget. Children. You hate all of them immediately.

You snatched the gadget off their hands. Your concern was simple and complicated , edited files and all your recent stories were inside the Tab's ROM. You hoped it was still good,

Please lord! You muttered as you flipped it over to see a badly shattered screen . You looked up and saw Jerry in tears, probably he realised what he had done.

' Oh God' You yelled out when the Tab came on but the touchpad and screen did not respond to your thumb. It was shattered beyond repair.
You regretted having cousins. Regretted staying home to babysit a mischievous kid. All thanks to ASUU strike.

Hopefully, you somehow thanked God that you had saved your stories on your email as drafts. The only constraint was a device to access them since you had no laptop and your parents used Nokia phones. You looked round the compound, clueless and lost.

Guys , this is my current situation. And I have been ashamed to let you know. I don't know why, but it felt like I had lost the desire to publish anymore, but rest assured that I have figured out a way to post the remaining 6 updates.

Honestly, I have to say... I will take them off after sometime because I still intend making something out of it but since my wickedness of depriving my readers of the rest has destroyed my tab and I'm not the type that borrows gadgets from people , even from friends due to reasons beyond my control, I will have to wait until I get a laptop , new tab or an android before I publish anything online, whether on okadabooks Amazon Kdp or createspace. Even on Nairaland.

Please understand me here, I'm just trying to make ends meet... I'm the third of three boys from an average home and I have only one dream : Being an accomplished Author.

You will pardon me for ignoring, yes ignoring your requests for continuation of the story and also my use of raw and quite loquacious english here. I do hope you understand my plea. It turned out that I have to keep my stories safe until I could comfortably share it with the world, but who is an author without readers? I doubt if I know the answer to that, or the situation it entails for any story teller.

Nairaland is great and I thank everyone of you, both the ghost readers and my esteemed beta readers, the critiques and the cheerleaders. Without your reviews, I would have buried my writing career a long time ago. I got inspired by Wole Soyinka's The man died' and Our own Blessing Gaglo's (bibijay123) 's ' almost perfect' to start writing and you especially my dear reader to pursue this dream of mine.

I sincerely hope that you will still stick with me while I test the frontiers of professionalism , writing relatable tales and making our taste for books ever intriguing in this dwindling economy of ours.

Benedict gets out of jail. His life is in danger. He escaped death and his home is blown to bits. With a revelation that his uncle is behind his misfortunes , he went for revenge but met dead bodies at his uncle's ,while escaping the set up, Yemi dies and he gets trapped in an open fire.
Raymond came to his rescue. Benedict nabbed the sniper and discovers his identity, but we thought he would uncover his real identity. Shocking! He did not.

Ray/ BB6 fills him in on the events that made his situation stagnant, and the antagonists behind his attacks. Why and what caused it. Now that was a big revelation. But the biggest event called the ' Apocalypse' is in the corner and We are uncertain if Ben will take up the lead, reject the idea or worse. And in the last update we saw him being stabbed with ethorphine (m99) and again who could have thought about Ray...?

So far so good. The thrill continues... Thank you for being there...

Phillip abhorred times when orders came from nowhere in the middle of the night. Especially when it was the big brother6 , whom he had not seen before but communicated with , through a private number.

This night was one of those nights and this one would be the last, he had one goal: to kill and usurp power.


Benedict boiled down with pain and anger as he raised his head to see the man approaching. He clenched his fist when he was up on his feet and wanted to pour out fury on the B4.


' Doc'. Phillip called out to Raymond when he came closer . ' I hate it when the BB #6 calls me and every time na ur face I go come see.' He stopped in his tracks. ' Wetin happen na? Why did he holla me and my boys over here to this location which is very--'


Raymond cut in ' Calm down #4, Its a night for reckoning, ' he turned to Ben who was battered up and then returned his gaze to Phillip who was surprised to see ropes and a chair ' A big announcement will be made here this night and--' Ray continued


The Brother #4 flickered his eyes and clenched his teeth in guilt. He knew what was about to happen, he will never allow it.

' What's the meaning of this? ' Phillip cut in ' I thought we already settled the issue of the apocalypse with the Big brothers. I mean the council of six. I thought we decided to-'

' Do it your way ' Ray shot back ' correct? And you tried to terminate him but you forgot that-'

' Wait!! Wait!!! '

'Why? Are you guilty of the crime?

Benedict and the rest of the brothers stood clueless and watched the two men argue.

' I want to hear it from the horse's mouth' Phillip said and put up a straight scarface. ' Where is he? At least for the sake of trust, let me see him. The big brother #6.' He paused and glanced at his home boys who stood close' unless , he is here somewhere.'

He returned to Ray and said calmly ' Is he? Eh? Doc'


Silence pierced the roof as both men stared each down with Ray only a second away from planting a bullet in his chest.
He knew already, damn! . Ray thought and adjusted his collar then a brother drew his gun, Ray had calculated and engaged the flash banger

A blinding white light and blasting sound followed.





Benedict found himself ducking as bullets flew up and down like a band of crackers.
He saw Raymond behind a crate and wondered what he would do with an empty shell.

A man fell face wards when Ray fired furiously.

' Are you with me? Ray called out to Ben ad mist the gunshots.

' Yes!! ' Ben replied 'but I can't do that without ammo. Toss me a shell.'

Ray pulled the briefcase and hesitated as he ran back for cover. An enemy bullet shattered the tv screen.

' Sir Raymond?' Ben called again. ' The bullets!!! Trust me!!'




With three sounds of ' kpppbang kpppbang kppbang', Benedict located his closest target. A bullet chew into the man's head and created an entry for the second, with the third, he cut down another fool who showed prowess.

These were the people he considered to be his brothers but the evil just keeps knocking until you let it out ... Its your only ally. You and it against the world.

At point blank , he located another hostile when he ducked a stray bullet, adrenaline pumped into his blood.

Holes developed on a pack of crates when Ray unleashed terror, a misguided idiot slumped and that was his end. He cocked and reloaded as he squat to take cover.
He advanced and picked his marks, the gun's recoil had bullets wastes tossing off one by one in milliseconds, evrything else was in slow motion but Ray was light, made flesh.

Benedict followed with a limp. He smiled as he believed in his own ability. A brother flanked Ray and had a clean shot , Benedict shot him impulsively, he almost missed as the man fired bullets upwards when he fell to his kneels.

The BB6 turned and saw a dead body in a pool of blood on the concrete floor.

' You are welcome' Ben said.


Ray shook his head and immediately spotted a brother fleeing.

'Kpbpaang' came the loud report. The man stopped in his tracks.



' He is not here' Benedict said to Ray.

He wanted to end it at that opportunity when Ray looked away and went toward the entrance. He aimed at Raymond from behind then held down the gun without a good reason. He had a shot and chose not to take it, so he thought, but it was fear of the unknown.

' I die... You die' Ray's words flashed in his brain.
