Please those in Owerri,
What happened to the promising Aladinma Mall? I have never heard anything useful of it since 2011.
Does it have any international anchor as SPAR or SHOPRITE? Does it have any notable restaurant of event center? Was the exterior and parking lot area ever beautified with palm trees etc to create an ambient shopping environment and make the place alluring?

Is it even still functional? If not what happened? If so, why can't it modernize and attract anchors to help boost it's reputation as a true mall? It is one of the biggest malls in Nigeria, so what happened to it? Does it lack proper central air-conditioning ? Is it priced too expensive for anchors and local boutiques to find it attractive?

The location of the Mall was very poorly thought out. However, Is the road to the place even tarred to make it accessible to the public? The Aladinma Hospital road must be well tarred or even dualized and the Ngwa road connecting the Mall to Aladinma hospital road must also be well tarred with sidewalks & gutters on both sides.
Is electricity connected to the place? Does it have borehole facilities to keep the toilets clean? Please somebody should update on this potentially great mall

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq74xFUbsMY
mall is not fuctioning..only the hall is being used as a reception for weddings

Displays of achievements of a semi-literate, hate-filled and badly educated governor who does not understand what state capital means;

a state governor who can hardly read and understand the provisions of Nigeria's constitution that a state capital is merely the seat of govt, not a place where a state governor must build whatever he likes with the federal allocations of other areas of the state, while the local councils for whom the allocations were meant to develop decay.

In the wide wide world, it doesn't exist a state governor who collects allocations of the many local councils in his state to build what suits the governor in just one small area of the state called state capital. Only Rochas Okorocha.

Today the demolition was carried out at Amaraku/Anara city in Mbano, Imo State. Okorocha had earlier dualised the major road in his first tenure but now wants to remodel the traditional Orie Amaraku market and beautify the city.

Billions of Naira in rubbles.. Rubbles all over Imo state from demolition of structures already established years back.
Instead of building new structures outside city centre to expand and beautify a city.

Kwontinue with demolition. After demolition, huge sums of money must be needed to replace. Imo state goes round the circle.

The recent happenings will serve as deterrent for future distorters. We admire how organised Europe is but prefer to live in filth. That mindset has to change and I'm glad it has started.

GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE
PRESS RELEASE

WHY I EMBARKED ON URBAN RENEWAL PROGRAMME – GOV. ROCHAS OKOROCHA

- SPEAKS ON THE SLAIN PRIEST & SON’S RUMOURED DEATH

Governor Rochas Okorocha has given reasons behind the Urban Renewal Programme of his administration, also called “Imo My Pride”, stating that apart from making Owerri, the Capital of the State, one of the best in the Country, the programme is aimed at attracting investors and making Owerri a tourist Centre.

The governor gave the hint while briefing Government House Correspondents on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, adding that the Urban Renewal Programme is on course and also added that for one to make an Omellete, an egg must be broken.

“Also we want to use the opportunity to inform the members of the public to disregard rumours making round the state with regard to Ekeukwu and whatever it represents, those things are social media rumours and does not represent practical realities”.

“The issue of Ekeukwu was taken beyond the scope it represents and I still maintain that the removal of that market was the best thing that has happened to Owerri Capital City and has brought sanity to the City”.

“Before now the headquarter of all Criminal activities was at the Ekeukwu and as we progress we want to live like other Cities in the world, in decent society markets of that nature must be placed at a proper place and not right in the centre of the city where it does not only constitute nuisance but also promotes criminal activities”.

“This will make our State a tourist centre and will encourage investors to come into our land, we shall continue with the urban renewal as we widen the roads, distill the gutters, relocating markets and making sure that Keke Operators are no longer in the streets of Owerri City”.

“To say that no provision was made for the traders is not true. Ekeukwu as it stands has about 1,600 shops, today Imo State government has provided over 11,000 shops. In order words, the entire Ekeukwu and all other markets that will soon go cannot occupy all the shops that we have built. Adequate preparation was made and we have been on this thing for the past five years and traders know that they will one day leave that place. Politicians went to court without the consent of the traders and got an interim junction which had expired over one year and the property was adequately revoked and gazetted before the action was taken”.

“Social media has been used for the unwarranted attack on my government and mentioning my son as been dead, is the height of it. I want to appeal to members of the public to disregard anything heard on the social media. I want to appeal to politicians to stop this hate politics and face issues rather than attacking persons”.

“It is rather unfortunate that some politicians from Owerri who are on the other side of the divide have politicized the death of the ten year old boy and are now crying more than the bereaved and recently they behaved like educated illiterates by the acts they did at Ukwu Ekwema where they were reported to be calling on their dead forefathers. This is unfortunate and must be condemned”.

He also added, “Recently, we heard of the murder and the wicked act that led to the death of the catholic priest in Orlu and a native of Osina in Ideato North LGA. We as a state have condemned this act and I have directed that the people concerned must be fished out and the police has gone to work and we are happy to announce that it took no time for a meaningful arrest to be made, that has indicated the killers, as it stands now it is obvious that the kingpins or those related to the killings may already be at the police custody. Investigation is still going on and the CP is reporting to me as they make progress in the matter”.

“We are assuring Imolites and Nigerians that no criminal found in the state will go unpunished. We sympathize with the family and the entire Catholic Church. We seriously assure the public that the culprits will be brought to book as soon as possible. We are on the matter and the truth will soon manifest”.

MAYHEM GOING ON IN IMO STATE!!

NEXT

The 15 Years old Imo State University Teaching Hospital Orlu (IMSUTH) was locked indefinitely two days ago.

The hospital has been under Gov. Okorocha's hammer since 2012 when he started building a soon-to-be fully privatized Eastern Palm University in his home town, Ogboko in Ideato South lga. Roads to the hospital dilapidated since 2012, govt refused pursuit of simple accreditation of some IMSUTH courses, health workers owed arrears of salary to make them run away, etc.

Last year October, Okorocha set up a committee headed by Imo House of Assembly Speaker, Acho Ihim, to examine how IMSUTH would be relocated to Owerri. Opposition to that went viral.

This final lock-up of IMSUTH was followed by a kangaroo demonstration by IMSUTH workers obviously engineered by govt last month. Demonstrators gave 21 days ultimatum for their salary arrears to be paid, or IMSUTH be locked up. Of course, striking workers have no right to chase patients out from a govt hospital and lock up the hospital.

Okorocha told National Universities Commission that Eastern Palm University is "my 12 years dream come true." That dream may eventually become unrealistic if Okorocha does not leave IMSUTH alone.

Owerri is wearing a new look while the Douglas Road which was used in blackmailing Okorocha has been knocked off to be rebuilt from scratch. Okorocha is rebuilding the entire old Owerri from scratch to more modern city with highways, flyovers, tunnels, parks and modern buildings. As usual I will soon come up with more recent updates for the wailers to cry more

And that's why I wrote that it's needless satisfying you because you can never appreciate the truth. Your mind is already dirty and you belong to the other side of the divide who can never see any good in Okorocha.

Not at all Afam. All the schools in Owerri are that standard now with some in other areas. The 305 model schools are equally different and were built in every ward of the State but some PDP politicians used thugs to vandalize their community schools and in some instances destroy them to discredit Okorocha.
