I woke up at midnight feeling uneasy,I had slept in mum's room in her insistence though it was no problem since dad was barely around. My eyes flew to the bedside clock which read 12:30.I stood up lazily and headed for the kitchen..I was thirsty and mum had no water in her room freezer.
The noise I heard hastened my footsteps.I saw Jessica sitting at the bar drunk~talking.

Jess,are you okay? I asked concerned.

But there was no response from her.I moved closer to her and asked again and surprisingly she replied.

Leave me all..I hate you so much.

Hearing those words from my twin hurt so bad but I didn't bother, after all she was drunk and it was the drink talking not her.

I tried to take the glass of her hands but she slapped me and spat on my face.

Embarrassed I ran to my new room were I broke down uncontrollably.

I didn't know when I fell asleep but was woken up by my worried mother.

Honey what's wrong? We slept together and I woke up without you on the bed.Aren't you going to work today?she asked concerned.

Oh no..jeez.what time is it?I asked after searching for my phone which I had forgotten I left in mum's room

Few minutes after 7..mum replied still giving me that worried look.

My goodness..I flew to the bathroom and ran a quick bath.

Ehis had dropped me off since my car was still at the repairs.He had come in for dinner on my insistence.we sat in the living room and chatted while we waited for mum special delicacy.

Close your eyes he demanded..

And why should I?I asked rolling my eyes.

I pouted my lips and did as I was told.

I could feel him placing a necklace on my neck.

I opened my eyes and took my miror from my handbag and what I saw rendered me speechless.it was a silver necklace with it's pendant embedded with "Mariposa"

Dont u like it? he had asked when I said nothing

What are you saying??I love it,its beautiful. Thank you dear.I said staring at it.

That's not how a good girl says thank you he said unsmiling.

So how does a good girl say thank you? I asked.

Without waiting for another word from him,I encircled my hands around him and rested my head on his shoulder.

Somehow the owner of that voice was my nightmare.. I stared at the now lean figure of David who stared daggers at me.

Since I travelled to the village you never cared nor called to hear how my mum was fairing.. What kind of lady are you?Is that how much you hate me?and just to crown it you are flirting. Ehis was fast enough to hold his hand which had almost landed on my face.

Don't you dare hit my woman..

Who would have thought you would earn up with a LovePeddler like this Ehis?this lady is up to no good..Jessica said clapping her hands.

Maybe our voices had brought her down from her room..

Jessica this should be the very last time you say anything nasty about her.I might do something we won't like forgetting you are her sister.

David am sorry I never called or texted, that is because I am done with you. I have never loved you,and I had tried putting up with you because you saved my life from those rapists that night.But am done trying.Am sorry I have to end it this way,but please leave my life alone,stop manipulating my life..I want to breath my own air.

And you jessica.,I turned to my twin

Haven't Raymond mentioned to you he used me first hu?because I know he never loved you..A man wouldn't cheat on a lady he loves, at least not before marrying her.He claimed to love you,yet he chases after everything under a skirt..Is that love?get it into your big skull we were both used by him.And for your information I thought you two were done..I can never chase after another woman's man.We were used,grow up sister!.


Jessica battled with her tears,embarrassed she ran upstairs.

After all I did for you. You will regret this he said and left

Am sorry she said to Ehis whose eyes trailed after David.

You don't have to be sorry honey,you don't deserve those hurtful words.

He pulled her into his arms and pecked her forehead.

I woke up lazily stretching my body,it was a Saturday and I intended spending the day with Ehis.Talking about him,I hadn't seen him in two days which was unusual. He had complained of been too busy.Well I didn't blame him though. He was just laying the foundation for his own hospital and I believed it consumed time.

I picked my I~pad which was laying just beside me and dailed his number.

"A lady needs to hear her sweetheart voice to start the day".

I smiled at that thought but soon changed to a frown after dailing twice with no response from him.

Maybe he was still sleeping.

I thought of preparing mum's favorite, surprising her with a breakfast won't be bad I thought. I just hoped Jessica won't cause a scene..I noticed she had been avoiding me since the Dave incidence and she hadn't been her normal rude self for days! I prayed she wasn't sick..have been scared of checking up on her since she spat on me the last time.But I still cared so much about her,all I wished was her understanding of the reason behind our parents actions.

I wore my slippers still in my nightie and tiptoed downstairs but got surprised or rather scared when I saw mum and Ehis sitting on the couch with gloomy faces.

Sweetheart..What's wrong? I asked worriedly walking towards him.

But he rather surprised me by keeping mute.

Mum what's the matter?I asked with fear written all over me.

I don't know how to break this to you but

But what I cut him short..eager to hear the news which seemed to be bad.

But please marry me.

He was already on his knees.

My heart almost ripped out of my body.I never saw it coming, I never imagined he was gonna propose anytime soon .I knew I had gotten the biggest surprise in such a long while and yes! I wanted to spend my life with him.

Baby please..he pleaded with all sincerity and love in his eyes.

I had forgotten what was before me..and with tears in my eyes I screamed Yes!

He slipped in the silver ring in my finger and we hugged admits tears and smiles.And before a blink of an eye he took my lips in his and we kissed passionately oblivious of mum.


Am still here..Mum had coughed for us to disengage.

Mum spread her arms and happily went in.

Am so Happy for you child..she hugged me tightly that I thought was going to get choked.


After spending an hour with him..I left to have my bath but after he whispered in my ears

"Let's do it in the beach..but only if you are ready"

The thought of it sent shivers down my spine..I giggled excitedly like a teenage girl asked on a date by her crush.

I had opened my door only to meet a teary~eyed Jessica on my bed.

Congratulations she muttered when our eyes met.

Am sorry for been so hard on you,I just wanted you to feel how I felt without having any parent beside me during the storm..she paused to wipe a tear from her cheek.But you surprised me by your attitude. instead of getting mad at me for been so mean,your every little action showed how much you love me.Have realised our parents did what they did for my safety,I registered with a counselor and have decided to let it all go and face the bright future I have ahead of me with those that love me.And for Raymond,he never deserved me.Am giving love another chance if it comes.And then with a smile she spread her arms.

I was dumfounded.. I couldn't control my tears anymore as I ran into my twin arms.

Thank you so much twinee,I whispered.

Prologue

Honey I don't understand you anymore, why are you crying?Mum asked staring at me all concerned.

Mum,I just can't believe am the mother of this two..I said wiping my tears while staring at my own twin babies in my arms.

I had put to the bed few hours ago to twin boys and my joy couldn't be measured.

I cut short by the opening of the door.

Jess!...I screamed excitedly.While sh walked towards me giving me a side hug.

Wow..they are adorable she said.Carrying them from me.

Wow..am an aunt now she gigled.

We'll name them phillando and Philemon.

Hope you havent forgotten you aren't the mother or father..mum said.

We all burst into laughter..

But am still their aunt. She said pouting her lips.

Its alright with me jess,I like Philemon..but philando is a NO or better still let's wait for hubby..I guess he has a name picked out already.

Over the year myself and Jessy had bonded more than I ever imagined.We had become so close that Jessy spent every weekend with I and hubby.Mum had also gotten along with jess and they were doing just great.Dad wasn't left out either.. He had handed over his business to me since jess wasn't interested.

Jess had confided In me she was a les!..I was shocked at first but with the help of her counselor she was able to pull through.

Raymond wasn't still talking to hubby but my hubby had long forgiven him.He believed Ray would come around someday!


My life was just what I could be described as perfect. Sometimes life dosent give us what we desire but what we need.
