Congratulations DanXplore....If they call you for documentation before you leave the country just go and do the documentation.... go with the flow. That's my suggestion.
After the documentation you can always email them when your visa is ready that you would be traveling.... You would be surprised how things might shape up. Good luck

Bro, i gas forget about this first bank o, infact i am unfollowing this thread after this comment. Initially, i thought firstbank pays like 250k per month. From what i have heard so far, i am pretty much disappointed. My present job just raised our salary to a net/take home pay of 183k per month excluding other potential benefits.

Assuming it were possible, i would rather ditch firstbank for Ptdf. i only applied to these financial institutions because of the job situation in Nigeria. If i told you I left kpmg for tutoring chemistry, physics and maths would u believe? grin

I want to first of all thank everyone that has taken their time to write on this post; the information contained have been very helpful.
I happen to fall under the category of those awaiting assessment. I took my dragnet tests in Enugu and I would love to find out if the 'assessment' will also take place in Enugu or in Lagos or some other states.
Also, this assessment, what does it entail?
Any information on these would greatly be appreciated!

Tutoring physics, chemistry and maths? Does that pay better than KPMG? Wish to know.
Congratulations!

Okay that's good. But you shouldn't define(stay at) a job because of financial remuneration.

I was taking like 3 different clients in lagos. Each was paying like 25 ti 35k. i totur for 4hrs to 6hrs daily. At the end of the month i go home with about 90k. Kpmg was paying 125k as at then, but it was not worth the stress to me. The main issue actually was that i did not like commercial science. i am an acute introvert

Hello guys... If you were to choose between first bank and access, which would be your choice and why?
Seems this is the point I find myself now. Tanx

I beg you, please Access is a pressure cooker now. People are voluntarily resigning..there are unrealistic targets to be met. If you want pay, Access would give you a good pay but what is good pay without peace of mind to enjoy it. Why would you ask a candidate to convince 10 people to open accounts with a minimum cummulative balance of N2m within five working days, isn't that inhumane? Why would you sign a bond mortgaging 2yrs of your life. If its the car that freaks you, its another way of keeping you till 5yrs time (continuous deduction). I also got access some months ago but had to back out after such conditions. All my friends there presently are counting down daily to end of the 2yrs. Pls choose wisely. Stick to FBN for now!!

PTDF scholarship is a nice one, but it depends on where u intend to utilize it. My guy if na UK and na MSc just siddon for here go do documentation cos I know it's worth like 5m but if it's not UK maybe Canada or USA secure ur visa first before you bone this FBN thing.

But if na PhD which is worth 25m then my guy u are free to do as u like. UK or not...opportunities will flow once u finish all over Europe, Australia, SA and even America.

Evaluate your options properly, pray, seek advice from experienced people, Evaluate your life goals and dreams and pray again. Then be sure you are doing the right thing.

All the best bro.

Least would be 10M. 5M would barely cover tuition not to mention upkeep. Although I would encourage him to do documentation if summoned.

Thanks bro for this very useful advice. It is Msc in UK and i will be doing my dream course. I am very certain i will be dumping First bank if eventually i am called. The issue is whether to dump my current job that pays a net of 183k for the scholarship. I am torn in between a secured job (Area sales rep) with a reasonable pay and masters in my dream course (process integration and design). I dont want to derail this thread, pls i will send u a pm

Hmmmmmm e be like u no know the amount of jobless ptdf scholars for Nigeria. I'm not saying it will be your portion if u decide to do the scholarship, Infact, I reject it on ur behalf but the truth Is that there are many overseas scholars who are jobless in Nigeria. If ur job offers steady advancement and good pay, why do the scholarship? My younger brother also got it, but his school resumes in January. He applied for Fidelity bank, and he says when they call him for training school before January, he will either defer or abandon his scholarship. Remember you will sign a bond to return to Nigeria after the scholarship, and ptdf will not give you Job, Infact the head of ptdf was in the news recently when he said that there are no jobs for ptdf trained scholars. So just think deeply. Yes the scholarship abroad is enviable, it is very great, but there are no guarantees after the scholarship. First bank is one of the best Banks to work,i tell u. Fidelity too.

Think!

If I were you, I'd stick to my present job or pick up the forthcoming FBN job because I'm sure FBN is a more recognised name professionally as compared to where you are working at the moment.

The goal of PTDF scholarships is to equip Nigerians with the best post graduate education towards effective human capital development so as to have them come back to further make needed competent addition into the nation's oil and gas industry, so after your M.Sc, you'd find it hard to get a job there or get a visa extension, the goal for anyone who came to the UK through PTDF is for you to return to your home country and contribute to human capital in the oil and gas industry. Except you plan to hypnotise a British girl into loving you madly enough to wanna marry you so you don't have to return to Nigeria grin You didn't hear it from me please grin

Let's say you go to the UK, after your M.Sc you come back, then what? Do you know the number of people who had M.Sc's before you even registered for your JAMB? The job market is saturated with M.Sc's and not just local but foreign obtained M.Sc degrees.

Your present job of 183K is good enough and you should get even higher pay soon once you get promoted, and you are in sales department which has high promotion opportunities. Stick to your job or accept FBN when the time comes, you were complaining about its modest pay, but there are a whole lot of allowances you stand to enjoy as a confirmed staff.
