Hello VO,
I am trying to complete the US Visa online application for my family. A friend who has applied before is telling me we all have to complete a separate DS-160 form which I find confusing because I don't now know how we get to be interviewed together as a family. Please is my friend correct and how do we tie all the DS-160 applications together? Thanks

Hi house,

Please how long does it take to get a response from Lagos@NIV.gov? A mail was sent to them on Friday and no response from them yet. Today makes it three working days. I hope I'm not being too anxious.

Hello deejay024 -

You will need to fill out a separate DS-160 and pay a separate application fee for each individual who wants a visa. Please see the following answer, taken from the FAQ at https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/forms/ds-160--online-nonimmigrant-visa-application/frequently-asked-questions.html

"When you select “Email Confirmation” on your Confirmation Page, you will be directed to a “Thank You” page. On the “Thank You” page you will see an option to create a family or group application. When you select this option, certain information from your application, such as destination, will automatically be imported to and displayed on a new application. Please note that if you use this option you must create an individual application for each family member or for each individual within the group."

Hello VO,
Please I just submitted my DS 160, how do I make payment online using my wife's credit card.

Also, please clarify me if it is that I submitted the DS 160 before attempting to pay application fee.

Thank you.

My People, I need your advise:

My pregnant wife's visa was revoked at POE in 2014 in Abudhabi for lying to immigration officer that she was going for 3weeks whereas itinerary shows 4 months, less fund for delivery and lack of insurance in USA. All explanation proved abortive. After the documented interview with the officer, the visa was revoked and was advised to reapply at a later date. She re-applied after two years in 2016 but was again denied. After all these attempts, I used mine(visa) to go and come back alone from the US. Now that my visa has expired and I want all of us(me, my wife and two kids-3yrs & 1yr) to apply. What is the chance of getting B1/B2 Visa for all of us to travel to USA. Honestly speaking, we will come back and never intended to stay in US and there is enough fund to show. Please, I need your urgent and valuable advice. I appreciate your effort in this group. Thanks and God bless.

Please help me,I wanted to renew my u.s b1 b2 visa and my husband was helping me,he got the ticket for 64k but somehow it was his information that came up instead of mine,he wrote a mail to them to ask for them to please rectify the problem but he was asked to go pay for another ticket.please does that mean that ticket is gone?for ever ?I just lost ₦64k?

Secondly why do the give Nigerians just two years but other countries I know they give them 3 years?

Thanks

Hello VO,

Pls, my brother is officially divorced but filled "married" in the marital status of the DV160 form... and got the US Visa. Now, he is married to a US citizen traditionally. What will he do to effect the anomaly when he is being filled for, by his US citizen wife.
I understand there is a waiver he will apply for.

Kindly advise

Good day VO
I want to apply for B1/B2 with my family.

But these are my questions:
1. I wish to use my first name E.g (EMMANUEL) as the surname for my son. I hope it will not have any implication on my application?

2. Is it true that one can't apply with a new passport obtained in less than 3months?

Hello LagosNIV, I went for interview this August with my wife. She was pregnant. She's a student. I have a good work. My employer gave us letter of his approval for our vacation. But, we were denied Visa. I don't know why.

This October, I want to attend a conference in the US. I will be going alone. My wife and our newly born will not travel with me. I still have my employer's permission to travel for the Conference. It's a church conference. I'm a clergy and my employer is a Bishop.

Are my wife and kid and my employment enough home tie?

Hello julius99 -

It sounds like you're asking a question about your brother's application for an immigrant visa to join his wife. Please ask this question in the appropriate thread.

Hello Dipo2020 -

You should use your son's legal name on his application. It should match the name on his passport. If his surname is your first name, then that is the name you should use. No, there is no restriction on applying with a new passport.

I cannot speak to individual cases in this forum. You are free to present whatever information you believe will be persuasive to convince the VO who interview you of your ties.

Hello julzz -

Yes, drop it off any time DHL is open. It must be received by the Consulate/Embassy within 1 year of the expiration date of your visa for you to be eligible to be renewed without an additional interview, so if you are close to that date, you should submit it promptly.

I see. Last time, we didn't present any documented information because we were not asked. We had our employer's letter and invitation letter from our host.

So, is it right to present documented information to VO without being asked?

Do not start shoving documents through the interview window unless they are requested by the visa officer.

Hello pooozeee. We are not travel agents. Your accommodation is your business. You do not need reservations to start the visa process, but you should have accommodation sorted before you travel.

Greetings VO,
I recently applied online for a Visa. My interview date is in 2 weeks, but I am not sure if I have completed the application correctly.

I applied for a B1/B2, was only able to fill a confirmation page. But I heard from a colleague that I am supposed to fill some other pages with details of where I am going and where I will be staying and what Im going there to do which i didn't see there.

I will really appreciate it if you can help understand, whether I don't really need all that, as I have all documents with me or if something is missing and I need to correct asap. Kind regards .

Hello Sijbombom. Step-by-step instructions are found at:
http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/
There is an extensive application form, called DS-160, with many questions about you, your family and your purpose of travel. If you did not complete this form, then your application will not go forward.

Hello danielox. You are going about this completely the wrong way. What you are describing is illegal immigration, and the consequences are harsh and long lasting. Save your money and do not apply for a tourist visa.

Hello Nairaland. Here is a public service announcement for those reapplying for visas, either via the interview waiver program (dropbox) or in an interview. On the application form (DS-160), there is a question that says "Have you ever been in the U.S.?" If the answer is yes, you will be prompted with another question: "Provide information on your last five U.S. visits."
Often, we have applicants who only list their most recent visit. Or, they will enter information on what they planned to do, but their actual travel was different. This invites closer scrutiny, meaning we will have to call in dropbox applicants for an in-person interview. Excuses that an agent or protocol officer made the errors do not hold any weight.

Hell VO.

I tried to schedule my appointment but the system recognized that my detail is attached to a particular email address from previous application but the agent that handled the application at that time cannot be reachable, therefore could not continue with my appointment schedule. Please what do I do?

Thank you.

Dear VO,
I have a brother that was to attend a conference at Atlanta ,Georgia on Monday next week , he has already book his flight , he however got a mail from the conference organisers today that the conference had been cancel due to weather forecast that the hurricane will get to southern Atlanta by Tuesday next week, and that the governor of the state already declared a state of emergency ,they promise to reschedule the conference to a later date and communicate this to participate

My question now is that , I hope he won't have problem at the POE , when the decide to eventually go for the conference when it is rescheduled.

Thank you.

Hello blueblood1. The word you are looking for is perhaps "abscond." The word "elope" means to run away to get married.
Any number of family members can be eligible for visas as long as the purpose of travel makes sense and you can afford it. That said, travel and living expenses for extra family members will compound what will already be very large costs for the medical care you are planning. These plans do not necessarily raise concerns about absconding. But statements such as these made by you earlier this year:
"I want to migrate to Australia but dont know if i stand a good chance."
"I want to migrate to canada with my family but dont know if i stand a good chance."
These indeed raise strong doubts about your true intentions.
