So that what? We embarrass ourselves with issues of non-payment, lack of proper training facilities, bloated entourage, then crash out even before knock out? Let me use my time watching actual teams that can play football, not local champions that talk better than they walk.

Abeg all the money they are wasting would be better spent on bringing down the price of garri. angry

Only thing Super about the Eagles is their super consistency at disappontment

wrong o... do your maths again.
We need to beat Zambia to qualify outrightly. a draw will mean we'll have to wait till the final match which we'll have to draw at the least also
we have 10pts, zambia has 7, if we draw with dem we have 11, dem 8.
Even if we lose the last match against algeria at algiers n dey win against cameroun both of us will hve 11pts.

Now lets check head to head, we r ahead of them cos we garner 4pts from 'em. Thats if and only if we draw or against dem in uyo.

Russia! Here we come 90% loading
More like 60% loading. Not to sound like a wet blanket but the 2nd leg against Cameroon exposed the mediocrity that is very prevalent & celebrated among Nigerians. We went to Yaoundé to achieve a draw not bothering to aim higher for a win. We could have beaten the Cameroonians in Yaoundé the way they played. If we were half as sharp as we were in front of goal as in the first leg, we could have scored a 2nd goal. The midfield (especially mikel) went on break for most of the 2nd half leaving the wingers to bear the brunt of initiating attacks. Our profligacy was punished when the referee gifted them a penalty (which IMO was unwarranted) which they converted to level the score. We were fortunate that the referee became vigilant afterwards because the Cameroonians started diving in an attempt to win another spot kick. What would have been our fate if he was deceived? Yes, a draw wasn't a bad result but we could have done better because the Cameroonians didn't exactly step up to give us a really tough time. We should have punished them. That is what separates the top teams from others. They are ruthless and offer their opponents no quarters. They don't rest on their oars. They rest when the job is done. Yes, we currently lead our group but that is no excuse to think we have already qualified for the world cup. If we lose our next 2 matches & zambia wins theirs, we wouldn't qualify. Yes, it's highly unlikely but it's possible in the realm of football. If we won at Yaoundé, we would have been 5 points up, thereby making it more difficult for Zambia to try & mount a comeback. Now, Zambia are 3 points adrift & we play them next. Imagine if they beat us at uyo. They would be equal on points with us. It's possible after all, we did beat them at ndola. Didn't south africa beat us in uyo? Playing at home is no guarantee of a victory for us. It is not over until it's over. Can you remember how we qualified for the 2010 world cup? Tunisia led the group until the very last match day when they slipped up. We need to guard against complacency & thinking we have already arrived. That's the reason why since 1999,no Nigerian player has won the african player of the year. Even top teams & players challenge themselves to do more.

No oh, that one is uyo township stadium
The nest of Champions is a totally different different stadium that was erected from scratch.

Is the township stadium still functional? I will still find time to travel round Uyo again. The last I came could only touched Oron road, Abak road, Brooks, Wellighton Bassey, Ikot Okubo, Federal Secretariat.....

Yes it still functional, Akpabio renovated it before he left, Akwa United play some games there as well when they don't make use of the new stadium.

Why are some people saying what they don't know. Who told you guys its just one point or a draw we need to qualify. Be saying what you don't know after you will be using calculator and permutation. See Zambia is 7 points now If we draw with them next like you are saying. We get 11 while they get 8.How are you sure we go win Algeria away in the last match. If anything make Zambia win Cameroon with high goals, they join us on 11 points (I.e if Algeria win us last last) and they qualify instead of us. So the best we need is to win them wella in Uyo and get 13 points while he highest they can teach is 7+ 3=10 if they win Cameroon. SO NIGERIA MUST WIN ZAMBIA IN UYO TO SEAL RUSSIA 2018.ITS WIN OR BURST.
which high goals will they win them with?

It's head to head, in which case, we qualify above them. Even they are aware of it. To qualify, they must beat us by at least two goals and then beat Cameroon. They do not have the option of drawing. They are at the disadvantage.

Go and reassemble you facts, this one is off

Cameroon was the strongest team in this group and they always have psychological edge when they play Nigeria, they were so confident beating the eagles in uyo which they showed for the first 15 mins. I took a lot of maturity and experience from the eagles to trounce them and draw them away and you call that complacency? You guys should stop all this over analysis. The team is on course, the zambians don't have that maturity and experience to beat the eagles whether home or away.

Omo, you're a fulltime slowpoke! You strike me as one of those folks who's playing their own football on the popular stand of the stadium making the loudest noise along with the women! Do you think that football is easy? And by the way, are you not a Nigerian? Why didn't you kit up to go beat Cameroun in Yaoundé, rather you chose to remain a keyboard warrior angry sad shocked

Listen, we are 95% likely to qualify. Yes, I said it .... and if you don't wanna hear it then sue me, OK? We're celebrating mediocre my behind angry

As regards to Mikel, are you aware that he's just returning from injury and wasn't 100% fit? The dude got tired, which is to be expected if you've ever played the game yourself instead of being a keyboard expert. Listen, this game is really easy when you play it on your keyboard or in the stands.

And by the way, even if we had won in Yaoundé we still need to win one of our next two matches to guarantee qualifications. Hence, not much has changed really. We just need to make that that one win must be against Zambia. Like I had said several times, we have so many routes to qualify and Zambia has only one route and that's a pretty tight route for them. If someone had offered us this option at the beginning of the series, I'd like to know which Nigerian wouldn't accept the offer!

if Cameroon wins its remaining games, nigeria will qualify. If algeria wins all its remaining games, nigeria still qualifies. But if zambia wins the remaining games nigeria wont go to Russia. So, nigeria has to beat zambia. Its the only threat, right? Thats what i mean.

O pari

Please you don't have to insult me to pass across your point. I expressed my opinion without derogatory comments. It is my opinion & you have yours. Football isn't easy but to be really good or among the best, good enough sometimes doesn't cut it. These people are professionals. It's what they do for a living hence expecting the best from them isn't asking too much. They played a Cameroonian side with an FA in shambles. When we were facing similar problems in 2014 with the NFF, weren't we beaten by congo at home despite being african champions? As for your 95% prediction, i would only give the advice Ahab gave Ben-hadad in the bible "He that hasn't put on his armour should not talk as he who has taken it off". Nothing is certain in life not to talk of football. Until the final game ends, anything can happen. Can you remember 2014 world cup qualifiers when Cape Verde topped their table to clinch a playoff spot only to be disqualified because in 1 of their qualifying matches, they had 1 ineligible player in their squad? That's how unpredictable football can be. The much nationally savoured Nigeria- Brazil Atlanta 96 Olympics semifinals should serve as a warning against any form of complacency or early celebration. The draw in Yaoundé didn't topple us as group leaders but it did set us back a bit. A win would have made sure that a draw against zambia was all we needed to seal qualification. Now we must win zambia to seal qualification. A draw would mean that we have to wait until final match day to seal qualification. Please imagine if the match against zambia goes the way the match with south africa went (heavens forbid but it's a possibility after all, we have a better winning record against south africa than zambia). We would both be level on points with zambia with a goal difference of at most 4. It then goes down the wire to final matchday. Another slip up on our part & we could start hearing that zambia have qualified for their 1st world cup tournament. It is a possibility albeit unlikely but we must consider it & see how we can prevent it from happening instead of wishing it away. This is exactly the mentality we carry into every sphere of life in this country. Why did we enter a recession? Because we thought oil prices would never crash hence we kept spending recklessly thinking the money would always come as it always does. Why are we still relying solely on crude oil exports for revenue instead on diversifying the economy? Because we think the day when automobiles, machines etc would stop running on fossil fuels would ever come even when there are numerous pointers that say otherwise.
