Abi o.. All thanks to God and the heroes here smiley

@ Markab, you are very good at this home tie thing o!I see have to keep thanking God over again because I didn't do justice to it in my sop at all. I was concentrating on my work experience and giving reasons why I would be valuable in the Canadian economy.

For this particular application, I honestly think the VO was a bit too strict. We have seen approvals here without all this plenty story.

Hello people. I hope someone can help me. I know this may not be the right thread but I saw someone ask a question about her children accompanying her but hasn't received a response. So i'm just going to ask.
I am recently widowed (a couple of months). Before my husband died we had been looking for a way to relocate to Canada primarily because of our children. I am still going ahead with the plan but I would like to apply to a school as my age lets me out of express entry. What is the best way to take my children with me (they are 10 and 12 years)? I've never been to Canada but our last 2 visits have been to the US (2014 and 2015). Do we need to visit Canada first to have a better chance or is that needless expense? Will my widowhood be a problem (home ties)? I will not lie that I am still married when I am not (as I have been advised). So that is not even an option I will consider.
Can someone please advise me? Also, can one use agents? I am disinclined to but it seems a lot for me to take on alone, especially now. Thanks for reading.

So sorry for your loss sad

But I don't think this thread is for you as there is no spouse to consider anymore

And since you can't do express entry, you may need to look into student visa
What is your academic background like?

That information can help us help you further.. Stay blessed

So sorry for your loss ma'am. May the good lord continue to comfort you. If you don't mind can you explain a bit why you are not eligible for express entry?

Thanks for your response, guys.
I have a degree in law but most of my work experience is in corporate communications and training and development. Some HR. I have over 20 years of post-grad work experience.
The new express entry rules doesn't give any points for age bracket (45 and above). So I don't have enough points. Especially now that I can't add my spouse to make up my points.
I was thinking of going on a holiday first with my kids and when we return I can apply for a study visa for myself. Then they can accompany me with their visitor's visa. Seems a pretty round about way of doing it but that's what I've been advised. You guys are so helpful

That sounds like a better plan
You should switch to the student visa thread for more advice and help on your study visa application

Yes this is better, kindly join the study route thread

Application approved. A miracle. It is indeed God's handwriting. Application was so imperfect that I thought there was no way. Indeed, with God all things are possible.

I have been busy lately. I will briefly discuss the 'red flags' that were identified even by the immigration consultant that I consulted. I thought we were not ready for the application considering the consultant's concerns, my wife encouraged us to apply. By the way, I am the student in Canada.
No 1 red flag:Fund- the consultant specifically asked us to gather 17,000 CAD as proof of fund, we were able to raise only 10,000CAD. Though we articulated my scholarship (full funding), 3 health insurance my family is qualified to use and my yearly income in Canada. All these, backed up with proof, I think except one insurance policy I could not locate a print out for.
Red flag 2. My Wife's Job: My wife is not currently working, so the consultant was really concerned about that. Her job could serve as home tie, but we articulated the fact that I am on study leave at my workplace in Nigeria, and I am expected to go back with my family and resume after my program in Canada.

I will give more info later. I am kind of busy now.

But we prayed and I know some people pray for us. God hears and answers prayers.

You can apply for her SOWP once you are enrolled in school and all your documents are complete. The earlier you start, the better, processing time is long.

I will advise you call vfs to confirm the status of your passport. It's very crazy reaching them, but do not worry,
You will get to speak with them after many trials. But I think your passport should be ready by now since it's more than 2weeks it was dispatched.
